Okay, that guy in the last story really ticked me off. As if cats are the only creatures that will feed on their owner's dead flesh. Those poor things were STARVING and just like any creature on this planet was not going to die when there was food right there. It's absolutely sad for the owner and the cats but DAMN IT are you seriously profiling a cat? Never heard of dogs doing it, huh? Hell, humans don't exactly have a spotless history with cannibalism. I apologize for the rant, I don't tolerate that kind of idiocy well. Not even from a paramedic.

They were watching him, because they were scared and hungry, poor furry babies... And he was so judgemental that the lady was alone with a lot of cats! The only bad thing about it is that based on how many she had and the fact that there was a new litter, I guess she didn't spay/neuter them. Otherwise, there is nothing bad about living alone with cats, what if her spouse died, she was divorced etc... I get that it was a really awful thing to see, it's not something I would like to see myself, but acting like the cats were a bunch of horror movie animals getting ready to eat every human they see?!

I think its just a matter of perspective , personally I don't find the cats monsters , but naturally most people would find the idea of a pet eating their owners scary but this comes from a simple realization . Many people tend to forget that animals like cats and dogs ( to a lesser extent pigs too) are either carnivores or omnivores and will willingly consume carrion if they are hungry so while the thought is very scary its ultimately not surprising.

  • @toboez
    @toboez Před 5 lety +109

Cats view death differently than we do.
When someone's dead, they're not what they were anymore. They're not the person/animal/living being they were. They're just a body.
That's why they can easily turn to it when they have no other options left. (trust me, those cats definitely didn't eat her alive... cats don't do that)
    They're not monsters.
They were just trying to survive.

Coyotes are actually a lot bigger than most people think (Or rather much bigger than TV or magazines can properly convey). I was once trailed by a curious coyote while spending a week out in a desert town where my grandpa lived when out on a walk, and they're about as big as a husky. At first I thought it was just a big dog, but they have a pretty unusual shape. I can totally see why a smaller breed would be scared of them.

My grandmother lives in the country in NC and when I say country, I mean COUNTRY... The nearest town in either direction is a good 30 minute drive. She lives on a couple acres, has her entire life (it was her mother's home before her) and they have seen black Panthers there stalking the edge of the woods... She has dogs that stay outside and my uncle lives on the property as well in a trailor across the lot but when I tell you... Going outside at night is literally the scariest thing I've ever experienced... You can hear coyotes and other things you've never heard of before. They have hundreds of bobcats, which I've only ever heard one (side note: their screeching sounds like a woman screaming for help. Had my fiance at the time not told me this, my dumbass would have gone into the woods looking for a woman dying and then I would have turned out to be the woman dying.. just terrifying!!) But they have mountain lions, you name it. I get so scared for her being alone there but she doesn't venture outside at night.. doesn't mean a rabid one couldn't come and take her tiny little body away!!!
I don't know why I listen to these stories... They are so scary!! But I do learn a lot of things that I hadn't known so hopefully that will help me be prepared if ever in this situation.

Cats, dogs, I think even hamsters will sometimes have something to do with their dead owner. I realise it was sorta traumatizing to see, but the author is making those cats sound near Satanic, which is totally irrational. It generally starts with instinctive anxiety behavior...they do nips to wake their unresponsive owner, then over time hunger will cause something to trip & they go from nipping to biting to eating. It's not done because of a longstanding desire to kill & eat their owners. Often the animal(s) will still defend their owner when they're found, & not because you're taking away their lunchbox. It's really quite sad. :(

Yes! Talking sh*t on cats, the f*ck are animals supposed to do once an owner passes? They search for food and if they can't find it, the owner becomes food. Dogs, cats, any animal that is a carnivore I'd imagine will turn to the next best thing if there is no food around.

Thing is, kids have thumbs and can work a doorknob/lock. Pets can't. I too found it unreasonable for them to judge the cats, when their literal only option would be to eat the dead lady (And it's not like they KILLED her to eat her, she died of natural causes) or starve to death, and if this person justifies any extreme measures taken for the sake of survival of a human, then they really have no ground to stand on when it comes to other species as well. I'd be way more inclined to call the dog that attacked a kid unprovoked a "little monster" than those cats.

It's hard to sympathize with some of these people. Animals, humans included, will eat their dead if starvation is imminent. You can't just expect them to starve to death because you don't like the idea of it. Getting bitten by a rattler should give you a healthy fear when wandering the fields; it does not mean these animals should be driven to extinction or near enough to it. Take your anger out on the system that forces you to pay tens of thousands of dollars for something that should have been free.

also supposedly dangerous breeds can be very nice. my friend always gets pit bulls not because he wants them as guard dogs or for dog fights he doesn't have them do any of that. he raises the dogs to be sweet loving pets and that is what they turn out to be. it's really not the breed but the owner that matters

    • @Chaos_and_Creativity

This couldn't be more true. I had a pit and she was the sweetest thing ever! My ex took her when we split and it's been near 6 years now but everytime I come to pick up my teen from their home, she remembers me so well and literally "mauls" me to death with hugs and kisses. It's all in how they are raised. And look, people need to understand, especially when raising ANY breed of dog, that when kids are small and annoying, they need to not let the baby or toddler or even a 5 year old bully the pet around because they will get tired of it.

To the one that put up the story about little dog breeds and why that attack?
You're only partly right. It's all in how they are raised, trained and treated.
Coddling is a part of it but so is how they are treated in general as well as trained.
You're 100% right in the fact that any breed can be aggressive.
Terriers (what idiots call pit bulls) along with the other breeds deemed "aggressive" rank the highest in behavior.
Meaning, they are far less likely to attack.
They even rank higher than the beloved Golden Retriever.
As for the last story. To the story teller, get over yourself!
    Animals get hungry.
They are not monsters for trying to survive.

    • @UnfazedPhoenix
      @UnfazedPhoenix Před 9 měsíci

Coddling is a teaching behavior. The person said they love little dogs, it's the owners who ruin them with poor training yea, but that was already said in the story. Do what they said with a coddled chihuahua you'll see 😂 also an American staffordshire terrier is different from other terriers and both are different from pitbulls. Pitbull is an overarching name for a mixed bully breed.

I'm sure many of us who share our lives with animals (as in pets- lol) would hope they would eat us after pass rather than die of starvation. What a horrible way to die. I remember about a year or so ago reading a question someone had posted on Quora about a woman who died and her little dog did the same thing. She loved her dog dearly but the family was really disturbed by it and felt conflicted over whether to keep or euthanize the dog.

Yea it makes sense. Children are loud, grabby, they move fast and they're much bigger to the chihuahua. Honestly, no matter how good and well trained a dog is I think kids should always be supervised around them and I love dogs (I have a beautiful border collie aussie mix) You see these videos of people letting their babies crawl face to face with a dog (especially large dogs) and it's just not worth it. The dog is still an animal and it takes one second for a life changing bite to happen.

Pretty good depiction of day-to-day life in Florida but I have 3 corrections- first of all we don't have Timber Rattlers, that's a western thing. We have Eastern Diamondback Rattlers. Second, thing is if you live in Florida there are coral snakes in your area, it's not localized to any one part of the state. Third thing, Gators don't shake you on dry ground like bulldogs do, they will drag you straight back into the water and that's when they start their death roll, I have unfortunately seen this first hand. But, other than that, yes sounds like a normal day... Ahhhh, home sweet home.

@@kikip1588 I'm vegan too and I suppose I would rather have people hunt than fund farms, but you know hunters are funding farms as well. Practically no ones going out to hunt as a prime food source, just to hurt and kill animals for fun and to feel "manly" (yknow like a serial killer would).

@@ANIMAL.LOVERS.DONT.EAT.ANIMALS true, some people still do hunt for food. I suppose I have a semi neutral view as I live surrounded with non vegans.

Some of these people apparently have animal issues they need to get over. Like with the cats, gator, and snakes.

The gator and the snake I can attribute to PTSD. The cats though? Yeah, they didn't deserve it, and the guy was overreacting to their need for food. I doubt it was a pleasant sight, but still. Don't blame the cats, guy. I agree with you there.

$100,000 for a rattle snake bite? Wow...
