Cleo. dogs can be vegetarian, but NOT vegan. it's even worse for cats. cats REQUIRE meat; dogs need it.
And the crazy thing is, I guarantee that if the dog died of malnutrition or something similar, the girlfriend would refuse to believe it was because she didn't feed the dog what it needed to eat to stay healthy.

Unfortunately, that bird story is not super unique among rescued birds. I have been volunteering with rescue birds for years and most of the ones rescued from abusive homes do say things like "help" ,"please stop", "watch out", there was even one that would scream "please wake up" and "mommy no". It really sucks and it does make it extremely difficult to rehome them.
When I was a kid, a friend had a parrot, and 2 dogs. The parrot would bark! 😂😂 good thing I don't have one, I could only imagine what things it'd pickup.. 😂😂

I remember the Travis the chimp situation and when the woman made an appearance on T.V. She was terrifying to see. It was heart breaking and disturbing. I have also listen to the 9-11 call, it is haunting. Chimps are aggressive animals, picture something with the mentality of a toddler but inhuman strength. When they get mad they will attack, main and kill and they get mad and have tantrums over petty things. They are dangerous and should never be a pet.

I watched her complete documentary on tv a while back. It WASN'T easy to see or hear by any means. She loved that animal, and I truly believe it took her by surprise when that happened. She couldn't believe he was turning on her like THAT!!! The unfortunate part these owners CAN'T see when raising these types of creatures, is that: THEY ARE STILL WILD!!!!!! 😔

I remember hearing the final story on the news when it happened. I was just a kid and honestly couldn't believe what I'd heard, it made me incredibly sad. I never understood why there are people that think having exotic animals is a good idea. Small reptile breeds sure, parrots why not, but having a creature that wasn't meant for domestic living is a huge risk. I can get special cases that wouldn't allow the animal to survive without humans, but that's what sanctuarys are for.
Yep. All because some rich asshole just had to own an exotic animal.
But on the note of "small reptile breeds": Ask any upstanding reptile educator and they'll tell you that the vast majority of the time, people get exotic reptiles and then realize they don't know how to care for them, or that the animal behaves in a way they didn't anticipate, and the animal ends up suffering needlessly or dead from improper care. I love animals and would love to have a wolf or a dog and wolf hybrid, BUT I know that can never happen because they are dangerous and wild even a hybrid.
In Ohio there's a sanctuary called Noah's Lost Ark where they rescue animals that have been abused like tigers, lions, bears, monkeys other big cats. They also have a petting zoo and the most beautiful albino doe who is so friendly she kicks you. The saddest moment I saw in that place was when a big grizzly bear was afraid of people. She walked out, saw me and my kids and nearly ran back into the place she slept. I backed away, his, and waited. She looked around a bit and came out. Broke my heart because no bear should be afraid of a human, we should be afraid of them. Some animals there are not abused they are turned over.
They are always receiving animals and some are never displayed because of the level of abuse they suffered. These animals live out the remainder of their lives safer and well kept and loved.
Also they are a non profit and don't receive any government funding. We donate and visit every year. Also, for the first time saw a dog and coyote hybrid. Not sure what happened to it, but it couldn't vocalize, it wanted to growl, but couldn't. Not sure if someone did something to this poor thing's vocal cords. They also had foxes which was cool because they had a white-silver fox, very pretty.
Also a suggestion for those that love wild animals, maybe, volunteer your time at a zoo or sanctuary.
Why is it ok for people to not keep a primate but your ok with other exotic animals that are neither food pets nor domesticated??

I had a dog one time . Her name was Chris and she was a German shepherd border collie blue heeler . That i rescued from an abusive owner. when I got her she had a fractured skull with broken two on two broken ribs.. after she was all fixed up we used to go for walks, she loved her walks !! one night she pulled me over to a dark corner a building. I pulled her way thinking maybe she was after a raccoon or a rat or something and I heard a noise not knowing what it was and not having flashlights with me I pulled her back home even though she didn't want to leave . I grab a flashlight and she practically drag me the whole way back to the building. I turned on the flashlight and I saw down into a window well was a tiny little kitten! so I went into the window well and got the kitten and her and that kitten where best buddies until my dog got cancer and passed away 9 years later

Remember all you Vegan and Vegetarians: dogs and cats are carnivores. Dogs will eat veggies too but they ABSOLUTELY MUST have animal protein as part of their diet or they will die. The scientific term is Obligate Carnivores.
PS if I find out you are raising an obligate carnivore on a vegan diet, I will find you and I will take said animal from you and bring it back to health before placing it in a proper home.
It's really not al. I'm a vegetarian too and I would never in my life think about feeding carnivorous animals vegan or vegetarian stuff. I love cats and when I get one or several, they can eat whatever stuff with meat or fish they want. My aunt is a vegan and though I never asked her what she fed her dogs, they both look very happy and well-nourished so I'm sure she feeds them meat too.
While cats are carnivores, dogs are not and can live happily on a vegetarian diet. Just an FYI, I'm not vegetarian and wouldn't feed my dogs vegetarian but it is possible.
@@RogueBulldog dogs require meat proteins to build and maintain muscle mass. Vegetable proteins simply don't maintain muscle mass. Unless you are going to feed all whey/soy/veggie protein nearly constantly. And you certainly don't want that dog in the house or around a source of fire or flame because that doggo is going to be like a 4 legged hindenburg
@@RogueBulldog Cats are obligate carnivores, meaning they can't survive without meat. They WILL die if denied meat, because their bodies can't utilize other sources of protein/vitamins/etc. (Not all proteins are the same or serve the same function, mind you.) Dogs are not *obligate* carnivores, but it's incredibly tedious and the owner has to be very well-educated to make it work, as well as that it's just plain easier and better for the animal to source the necessary proteins and nutrients from meat. If someone wants to twist themselves into a pretzel so that Fido doesn't need to eat meat, that's their business, but it's difficult in general, and STILL *impossible* for specific breeds that lack the ability to process the plant proteins enough to compensate for the lack of meat proteins. Any major dietary decision should be completely informed and with the approval of their vet.
It's just for the better for both parties if people get it out of their heads that dogs "can" be vegetarian and just accept that meat plays more of a role in their health and happiness than it does for humans. If someone truly can't stand the idea of their pet eating meat, then they need to get a pet that doesn't eat meat to begin with.
Cats are obligate carnivores. Dogs are non-obligate carnivores. But humans are omnivores and it's hard enough for a human to be healthy on vegan diet. It's not even worth trying with dogs IMO.

Most people don't realize how powerful and dangerous some animals can be, especially when babies are involved! They will stop at nothing when you threaten their babies!

i love these stories. i have a scary pet story for you. me and my husband moved into this tiny 1 room living space with a bed and only separate room was a small bathroom with stand up shower. well the day finally came that i got pettie boy from the ESA training school and i was so happy. one night my husband walked 30 mins down the road to the store and since he took the keys to the front door i left it cracked just slightly as i took the dog out to potty. once i came back in my dog jumped up on the bed and i got on the bed to cuddle with pettie and watch youtube on my laptop, after a while past i must have fallin asleep but was awakened by my dog barking and jumping around, thinking it was only my husband i grabbed pettie and told him to hush. then i raze up to see it isnt my husband at all but some man that creeped in while i had pettie outside then as he is walking toward me with this creepy smile my husband opens the door. the man then runs at full speed towards my husband knocking him to the ground. i hate to think what that man was planning to do to me if my husband had not come home home when he did.
The guy in story number 1 should have kept his dog inside in the first place instead of locking her outside

OK, so I'm officially damaged from all these creepy stories.
I was freaking convinced that the dog food the vegan girlfriend bought was either made from dogs or humans, which, ironically, would have been better for the pupper.
In any case, pushing veganism on small children or carnivorous pets should be considered cruelty and be punishable by law.
Unfortunately, a lot of vegans do exactly that...try to force their extremist beliefs on others, including helpless animals and kids. It really is like a crazy religion for those people. They're a bunch of self-righteous hypocrites. They don't really love animals, all they care about is their "cause."
@@ct92404 Well, I have some close vegan friends and a couple of years ago I even gave the diet a try for 6 months (it had a horrible effect on me, and also, I love animals, but steaks are awesome).
My experience is that most vegans aren't preachy at all. However, the few that are, are so annoying and loud that they ruin it for everybody.
@@krikiki0405 I just personally have never seen a vegan who didn't eventually become preachy and try to convince/coerce other people to change to veganism. At first, they always claim they're not going to force their beliefs on anyone, but then it's just a matter of time and they always do. Millenial vegans are the worst. I don't know, maybe in some areas they aren't like that or maybe older vegans are different, but all the ones I've encountered online and in real life always turn out to be extremely self-righteous.

"These things happen" Isn't heartless. What would've been heartless would've been to say something like, "These things happen, so get over it." Implying that because it happens, it's not that big of a deal or can't be legitimately painful to the person experiencing it.
I mean, I can safely say that if my cat went missing, I would've been devastated and unable to sleep or stop looking until they came home. But that being said... I also kept my cat indoors when we moved to an area that wasn't safe enough for my liking (Busy street nearby, sociopathic unsupervised kids, owls spotted nearby, no safe spot the cat could hang out near our door at etc). He didn't like it, but, he lived to be quite old because of it (And I did my best to provide him with mental stimulation--and took him outside when I could, on a harness and leash, and let him lead me around). I feel like people have less room to be upset when they didn't take any precautions to make sure the animal was* safe, to begin with. I especially see this of cats, since people assume that their knack for independence means they're completely self-sufficient.

VERY well said, Jaded! My cats lived to be 18 and 16 and they were strictly indoor cats. They would go out on the screened patio and I had a stroller that I sometimes took them for walks in (yes, I'm one of those). They had PLENTY of toys, cat scratchers, cat tree and each other to play with. There was no reason for me to let them roam around the streets, knowing the kind of psychopaths there are out there. There are sick people who deliberately try to run over cats on the street, or catch them and do horrible things to them. In my opinion, subjecting them to that is just plain cruel and negligent!

I've heard a lot of stories like the first story. Where I live, in Canada, there have been quite a few dogs that have been taken from their locked yards. Their owners would go to see or retrive their dog and the dog would be gone. There's even been suspicious vans around where I live but somehow no one has been caught. It's been going on for months. The police here seem to think people are taking a certain breed of dog, one that I can't remember. And that they are being placed in some sort of dog fighting ring, I don't know if that's even true. My dad has a dog, so I get a little nervous when he or I put her outside for a bit. I always look outside our backyard, we've been careful. I can't imagine anyone would be able to snatch Rosie, my dad's dog because she has a very deep bark and she has some very sharp claws and long teeth. She's made my dad's arm bleed quite a few times accidentaly. I really hope these dog stealing comes to an end soon.
Sheena, sorry to break it to you, my dear, but I don't think that's going to happen. People are getting more and more desperate to make a quick buck and dog fighting is big business. It is our RESPONSIBILITY to educate ourselves on what's going on and keep our pets safe. The best thing to do when you let your dog out in the yard is to WATCH YOUR DOG. Personally, I don't think dogs should just be left outside all day or all night, but for those who may have very large dogs and house their dogs in the yard, you should have a secure, specious, very well insulated kennel that can be locked for them to safely sleep in at night and invest in a security camera for the back yard.

Pets are usually so lovable and innocent and the idea of them being confronted with horrible things definitely makes for some interesting story telling.
So I'm a vegan human (due to GI issues). I have noticed the vegans that dont eat enough protein make poor choices. I guess protein is vital for proper brain function.

As an professional athlete I highly recommend plant based diet, that were you really see a difference!
We have 6 bulldogs and they often get raw meat/or meat based dry food.
They are carnivores simple as that. They can’t survive solely on plant based food unlike humans.

The veterinarian story, yup, when you talked about mama pig screaming at you, I was reminded of when I was on a school trip, we went to a barn full of piglets, hundreds of them screaming at the top of their lungs.
Story 7 - Wild animals are NOT pets !!! What happened to Travis and many others is sickening.
That first story makes me so happy my dog has an umbilical cord attachment to me. He won't even go outback on his own and is a firm believer in stranger danger. He is an Australian Cattle Dog and they are obsessively loyal one person dogs.
What surgery is this? Am interested. Never heard of such procedure.

The story of 'Major' the trained army dog was more sad and moving than anything. The Travis story started off well but only went downhill when the bad behaviour began. Ultimately, chimps are not sweet, harmless household pets. The owners had to learn the hard way.
It's sad that there are indeed a lot of people out there who are vegans and forcing vegan diets on their dogs.
Vegans are self-righteous scumbags. I DESPISE them. They're all like that. They try to force their ridiculous delusions on everyone, even helpless animals. Bunch of hypocritical idiots.

ct92404 Id never force any ideal on anyone much less an animal. I agree dogs are omnivores and need mostly meat in their diet to get their high protein needs. However as humans we all have different body chemistries so different diets work best depending on who you are. So please don’t go criticizing all vegans.

@@ct92404 this is definitely not true. i am a vegan and understand that dogs need meat to survive. sadly a lot of vegans are simply not educated enough to fully understand these sorts of things. for you to imply that just because one vegan does something stupid therefore the rest of us are "hypocritical idiots" forcing "ridiculous delusions" on everyone is extremely ignorant. it makes me very sad actually that there are judgemental people out there like you so willing to stereotype and entire group based on the actions of a few. imo the boyfriend was dumb for not looking at the ingredients of the food right away and the girlfriend was just not very intelligent. stupid people exist in every demographic.
I don't eat meat but my cat and dog have actual meat in addition to their pet food, at least once a week. You can't expect them not to eat meat, some people are sick😷

I work with dogs for a living and I put these stories on for them while I’m in a room with a bunch of them. Ok ok I put them on for me but I try to listen to all the pet related ones since I’m taking care of peoples pets all day.
I love all kinds of animals, my patience and love for them is limitless.
Except for monkeys. They're like all the worst parts of people crammed into one violent, unpredictable, freakishly strong, frustratingly smart yet stupid package

The last story about Sharla and Travis is horrifying, I've heard the 911 call and seen some of the pics. I don't think people should be allowed to keep dangerous animals but in saying that I'm sure there is probably more dog bites a year than any "dangerous" animal attack.
Some regulations(permits and strict importation rules) have helped with this but it's really not enough, some places are better than others.

@@kyrabarnes2249 most people who get bit by snakes in this country are usually trying to kill it. Even though we r told not to kill them call a wildlife carer to catch and relocate. By law most people do not have the right to kill them and for those that do (me I'm a wildlife carer) it's only if they are beyond help. Spiders don't have the same laws protecting them, so again it's kill kill kill. Sharks we r told not to go swimming at dust and dawn or when people are fishing. They are mostly protected but if a few attacks happen then the government starts trying to kill them, so we don't lose tourism dollars. There is a few random people who get bit by crocs, wer pretty much told not to go swimming up north unless it is a watering hole that is marked as u CAN swim. sometimes they will try to relocate these killer crocs to farms, where they might kill it for its skin.
So unfortunately mostly it's kill the bad animal, which is just sad.
