  • In the second episode of this two part modelling series i will be taking the high poly and low poly Jam Jars created in Blender and importing them into Substance Painter to give them a realistic texture, using the "normal" information generated from the high poly mesh to project detail onto the low poly model.

Quick Note: I just noticed that when editing i cut an important bit out, you probably noticed that in substance painter the glass jar, even with the red material under it was very transparent and you could see the back of the label inside, but in Blender it was quite opaque and looked much more like a jar of jam. To achieve this in substance painter go to your glass layers and find the base colour layer, then in its properties under material just turn off the opacity layer.

Yo le tuve que dar 0.25 a la distancia del Normal porque con 0.15 me daba errores ( manchas oscuras )

Yeah, it depends on your model, you need to experiment with that setting, i usually find 0.15 does the trick most of the time, but there's always the outlayers that need a bit more.

Hi, this was very informative thank you! Could you do a tutorial sometime about painting in substance painter for stylized objects? Thanks again!

Thanks. For stylized painting i will have to have to look deeper into it myself, i generally use a set of predefined smart materials which i purchased a while back, which auto generate stylized shading. I may make a tutorial/review video on using those textures at some time.
But i can't guarantee when as i've had to take some time off, you might have noticed i haven't uploaded much lately, this is because i was suffering from covid for a while, then a few months ago i had a spinal injury and couldn't sit up, and now i'm suffering from kidney stones. But as soon as i am feeling better i will start uploading again.
