Hollow knight is an easy game if you only do one playthrough and only complete the game for the basic ending. But the game has multiple different endings which VERY quickly ramp up the difficulty. Some of the bosses require incredibly good reflexes and many practice runs to finally defeat.
That makes Hollow knight a great game, because it's so incredibly accessible for different skilled players. It also just plays damn well, I really enjoy it.

I beat [Non-Absolute-Final-Boss] first try it's not the bad, the hard stuff isn't really the endings but the stuff outside of those endings like Radiant bosses, PoP or Colo3

To go to the pantheon 5 you have to beat all the other 4 pantheons,each one whit 10 different bosses.
Each one of this pantheons have a brand new boss on the end that you will have to face if you want to enter the pantheon 5.
To actually fight in the pantheons you will need to have killed 9/10 bosses that the specific pantheon has.
To get to god home (the place that has the pantheons) you will need 2 keys,one to open the sewers of the city of tears,and one to open the cocoon of the god seeker.
Once you opened his cocoon,you will have to use your dream nail on him,that will lead you to god home.

@@matthijscalje4143 lord mantis fight, In my second playthrough took me around 30 death, though it was the best fight i had in this game so it was a lot fun(even though i haven't finish my first, my reason is complicated)
Though I challenged myself on my second to not use spell, no charm, no heal and no nail upgrade but inevitably decided to upgrade my nail because the dung defender took me 70 something death and the spider thingy boss in forgotten crossroads took me 50 plus death, though i beaten both before the nail upgrade and I don't want that experience anymore(also this restriction only applied to when fighting bosses because the exploration in this game don't joke around)
Sorry for the blabbering it's just fun sharing my experience to a game that I'm addicted atm especially since I don't have someone to talk about hk enthusiastically
In general, Hollow Knight isn't a very difficult game, but by far one of the most enjoyable in the metroidvania genre.
IMO, ranking games solely by their difficulty is unhealthy. Mainly because it kind of makes you blind to all the other aspects of the game like the world building and visuals which is something Team Cherry clearly spent a lot of time on.
And also, i know mods can't really be called part of the game, but hollow knight got some of the hardest mods in gaming history
i only looked into covering the difficulty, if i was going to cover the story aspect and everything the video would be 2 hours long (i really enjoyed the story)

As someone who recently beat the Pantheon of Hallownest for the first time, the base game is EZ (when you're already experienced), but the endgame and steel soul are on another level!
(Also I just realized dude completely missed Zote when he beat the first colloseum and it was just the Gruz Mothers, left him to die in the jaws of a Vengefly)

I almost guarantee that nightmare king grim and the pantheen of hollownest will change your mind about the game as well as The Path of Pain

Hollow knight is less impossible, and more unfriendly. When you start out it feels hard and impossible but you just need to learn the patterns and then throw away your safety. Either you'll die first or they will, heal if you het a chance but prioritize killing faster.
Learning enemy's patterns while not dealing any damage is a good practice if you struggle with a boss. Focusing on damage to enemy will only make you die quicker.
The more you play the harder it gets at the end of the game (p5) you'll think the devs are masochists
Yesterday I finished the game and killed the radiance and now hollow knight has become one of my favorite games of all time. And you are right, it isn’t too easy and it isn’t too difficult. Of course there were difficult bosses or areas, but overall it wasn’t too bad.
Except Pantheon 5, we don't talk about that

@@ottoschlenzka4682yeah, im trying pantheon 4 right now. Pure vessel is a tough boss. I was able to defeat him in the training area multiple times, but I still have to beat him in the pantheon.

Hollow knight like other Metrovanias is more choose your own difficulty. The more exploration you do the more power ups you have.

Maybe the base game is "mid difficulty", but you haven't even come close to the hardest challenges of the game. If you cried after beating Trial of Fools, you have no idea what you're in for. I can think of at least 10 things that you haven't tried, that are harder than that. You also haven't even fought the true final boss (which is also nowhere near the hardest thing in the game). And if you thought the platforming is hard, but you haven't been to a certain area, you have no idea.

As someone with ~500 hours in hk i can say that i think hk is a hard game... but that isnt enough to stop me from beating nkg with nail 0 and no dash!
Out of everything I think the progession kept me interested when I first picked up Hollow Knight. It's well paced and rewarding and if you're stubborn enough you can kinda do your own thing which is really neat. Also you definitetly deserve a lot more notoriety because your content is great, and I wish i found your channel out sooner :D.

the dream bosses are really easy with howling wraith/abbys shriek and you cleared a lot of them without it
Dude, you did a good job making video for this game, but honestly it felt pretty boring watching you just comenting on each boss in a regular tone. Try to add more emotions or maybe some snippets of live comments of your tries, it would be much more enjoyable and relatable to watch. Also I would appreciate it if you put chapters on your videos, like for this one you could do each one for each boss.

The only reason i find it difficult is because i played this with a keyboard and i have little platformer experience
But it's a good level of difficulty
The difficult sections are mostly optional, so anyone can play it and feel good
imo its easiest on keyboard bc with joysticks its rlly easy to accidently change where youre facing
as someone who is very bad at video games, i suffered with the husk guard and false knight from the start and i found the game difficult and fough each boss ATLEAST 5 times
Bro finds hollow knight mid difficulty, proceeds to not fight nightmare king grimm, do not attempt one of the DLC, did not touch the white palace let alone the path of pain. Every game is easy if you don't do the difficult bits. Just pointing it out becasue your video is about the game's difficulty, it's a fantastic game and the only one that managed to rival my fav game of all time in my heart (ocarina of time) and I am really glad you enjoyed it, please give it another try and do 100% or 120% as the game calls it true ending is P5 you'll know when you're there

The music in background was pretty loud, try to lower the volume down because it gets quite difficult to hear both the game, and your voice because of that :D

First ending: accessible to everyone
Real ending: challenging even for seasoned gamers
God ending: a sadistic exercise of pain

Hardest things in Hollow Knight:
RP5 (Radiant P5 (Radiant = No Damage)(P5 = Pantheon 5 which is every boss in the game (on a harder difficulty) with little to no breaks between))
P5AB (P5 All Bindings (All Bindings = Bindings are things which in pantheon you can activate them to make the challenge harder, the bindings are: Nail Damage = 80%, Masks = 4, No Charms, Only 33% soul stored))
The first time that my cousin and I tried to beat hornet it took more than 75 attempts. We were noobs.

so i have completely done every single boss on radiant (don’t ask what compelled me to do this) and i can confidently say, as long as you have at least one sane bone in your body telling you NOT to do that, the game is honestly mid difficulty yeah. pantheon 5 is difficult but just practice a bit and it’ll be mostly fine. as long as you can beat each boss individually you should be fine.
i love hollow knight genuinely. i only have the ps4 version cause uh. i’m broke. so i haven’t done any modded versions or anything. but the regular progression even at godhome is done really well where the next step never feels out of reach exactly. sure when i stepped into godhome i never thought i’d actually make it to pantheon 5 but pantheon 1 seemed simple enough. pantheon 2 was the next step and also seemed simple enough. so on and so forth. hollow knight is beautifully crafted and to fully appreciate the game i think you need to fully complete the game, not just get an ending.
I can't get past the Watcher Knights when theres two of them going at you at the same time their moves aren't predictable it's kinda impossible
Use desolate dive more often then, it gives you invincibility frames
Use fluke nest and shaman stone. It's about how fast you can kill them and Flukenest is the hardest hitting Spell by far, also use shade cloak and D dark for i frames
You 100% the game faster than I got 90% completion. I did get true ending but I took 10 hours longer. (Get true ending, it's worth it)
the godhome ending is SO worth it tho
Hollow Knight is a great game. Quite non linear for the most part. The difficulty will depend on how many upgrades you find and collect prior to some of the major fights. Overall it’s not too hard outside of the Godmaster DLC which has challenges far harder than anything else the game will offer beforehand. P5AB is beyond 99.x% of human beings - yourself included.

In order to get the best achievement and best ending, you will need to do the pantheons. It is the only "true" ending in the sense that you actually do end the final boss and not just pospone its reawakening. Im a mediocre gamer at best, but got that ending several times. If I can do it and the game is easy, then you should easily get it as well ;)

Most of the games difficulty comes from when you access the different areas, for example if you go straight to deepnest after defeating the mantis lords, deepnest is going to be a very difficult area, but if you comeback later its way easier
I suggest trying to achieve "embrace the void" ending, then I think you wouldn't be so cocky

Base playthough of HK isn't too bad. Watcher Knights are about the only real challenge that's actually required to beat the game.
But there is a lot of additional content that gets super tough, specifically in the Pantheons.
It's actually a really cool part of the game, it's not too difficult for most casual players to beat with a little persistence, but it offers the brutally tough challenges to those who enjoy suffering.

It depends on what you want to accomplish in the game. Simply beating it with the basic objectives is pretty simple. The hardest with this in mind is probably the Watcher Knights. The more of the optional content that you want to do, the harder this game can be.
Some of dream variant bosses can really be tricky. The White Palace/Path of Pain can be a problem for anyone who has trouble with platforming. The radiance is tricky. I had trouble with the 3rd challenge at the Colosseum. After this, the pantheons are clearly the hardest challenge in the game specifically the last couple.
These are my subjective thoughts.
Do not try to finish the game 112 percent it is crazy hard … your brain cells will go away
the hardest challenge of hollow knight is Pantheon 5 all bindings hitless, it's one of the hardest thing in videogames.
Honestly even pantheon 5 is hard enough for many players and for people claiming hollow knight is easy
Hollow knight Base game isn't that hard, But you missed a lot of the hard parts of the game here, Like the true ending (you didn't fight the real final boss), path of pain and The pantheons. I'm not saying this as a criticism, I just want to say that you missed a good portion of what this game still has to offer, It's fun. so you can make another video on it.
The game has so much content. The basic ending is like 20% of the actual game. I've nearly finished my second playthrough after a year break and it turns out that I missed like 50% of the game, and that's after I tried to 100% it the first playthrough blind. I'm currently working on beating Nightmare King Grimm. God he's a bitch to fight.
@@sdm6054 if you have a godseeker file, I recommend you practice him there before you fight him in dirtmouth, Unbreakable strength is a must, I also used Mark of pride to hit him at a range without getting very close to him

"It's not that hard" - you didn't defeat a single dream boss, you weren't in white palce, completed path of pain or pantheon 5. Max percentage for completing the game is 112% because of DLCs. Btw Hornet is your half sister :D
And yes, defeating Hollow KNight at the end is sad, especially if you know the lore. Mossbag made a while video about it.

Hollow knight is a decently hard game, but i have completed steel soul without healing and no nail upgrades 108% in about 6 hours, so It's not too bad if you know what you are doing.

Hollow Knight is not the final boss though. Find the King’s Soul charm, turn it into the Abyss Charm then fight Hollow Knight again. Something happens, then you can enter the place where the TRUE final boss is waiting.

The only really "hard" fights in HK are the Pure Vessel and the Absolute Radiance. And by "hard" i mean that one has really hard to react to attacks and one is just pure bullshit
Just gave up on this game. I beat the Hornet, was stoked, 20 minutes later I fell into some hole and was facing another mini boss. I just don't care enough to slave over boss fights in this game. I don't find them that rewarding. For me this game is confused, the dreamy aesthetic and brilliant lore are confused with frustrating/challenging platforming. It's a juxtaposition that irritates me. I think this game would have done much better with more puzzles than bosses.

What annoys me about this game is that there are two bosses (Grey Prince Zote and Absolute Radiance) which are really hard compared to the other bosses which are all pretty easy
Zote is ez lol, just learn to read him. But Absolute Radiance is a final boss, so yeah, it's supposed to be like that to some degree atleast
Zote is Easy for me, He has quite good tells and as long as you know how to use D dark, your good. Markoth Ascended on the other hand...

You can improve your reaction time by fighting in the hall of gods.
Your not done just yet the game goes up to 112% completion and you only got 1 of the endings the others are much harder
Go to the hidden station At the palace dream nail the knight with the awoken dream nail you can start the next ending
People should stop saying pantheon. It is optional and this is like saying Super Mario Galaxy 2 is a hard game just because there is this stupid level called The perfect run in the post final boss content. No Super Mario Galaxy 2 is still a children game.
