I am the painter of the internal housings, they are infact high density glass infused injection molded plastic and I paint them in house, we just started that color and I formulated the mix to EOtechs very exacting specs, it should be very durable for you. You thinking it was cerakoted really made my day cause that's the finish I was going for! Can't wait to see how mine looks on the build I've been piecing together as all my furniture is painted with the same FDE as the electronics housing lol, perks of the job I guess. Well done detailed unboxing.
Ohh that’s awesome man! The finish on the housing is extremely smooth which is what gave me the impression it was cerakoted but as you can see I was kinda flip flopping on that idea. I love the color on it as well as the multitude of FDE/tan colors on the entire optic.
What type of paint is used on them if you aren’t using cerakote?
I plan on doing an in depth video on the rifle this ended up on here soon.
@@GunBoxTherapy thankyou! I'm using a catalyzed Sherwin Williams polane polyurethane enamel. Took me 3 months to develop the perfect mix of hardener and reducer to maintain their strict specifications of durability, smoothness and matte finish. Before our company even got approval and grants for our climate controlled paint facility, they tested our sample parts for 3 months in harsh climate and torture tests to make sure they'd hold up in the field. I'll do a video of my setup with this optic as well just as soon as my new upper and optic get in my grubby paws lol

Just bought this exact Eotech EXPS3-2 tan because of the different FDE colors! It’s shipping as we speak & it’s going on my Aero Precision M5E1 FDE cerakote rifle with matching FDE Magpul furniture. I hope it matches well because the FDE color on my rifle is like Jiffy’s smooth peanut butter color & Magpul’s furniture is pretty close to that peanut buttery smoothness color too. Can’t wait! One of the sexiest FDE color schemes on an optic I’ve seen, so thanks!

Hey man! If it works, it works. Nothing wrong with a 512. I prefer the easy to find/buy/hoard AA battery that’s used in the 512.
@@GunBoxTherapy I got the EXPS2 and it's pretty nice. But on an AR, it sits way to low even with the raised mounting quick detach on this model. Definitely recommend using another riser like the Unity riser because it's so much easier on the neck and allows me to place the stock lower in my pit for better control.
I been thinking of getting a Meprolight M21 as well, seems like it'd be a good SHTF optic, no battery replacement or buttons for powering on and off.

The Optic body is a glass filled high strength plastic/polymer. Eotech has a video with Rob O Neill explaining how they build the optic and the materials used. Cool video man can't wait for mine to get here.
Ohh I will definitely have to check that video out! I promise you will love that optic.
One complaint I see all over the internet is that the reticle looks “fuzzy”. While yes if you focus on the reticle it will be fuzzy, however that just proves bad habits of shooting. Focus on the target and you won’t even notice the “fuzziness”. lol.

I want it to come out in green reticle sights
How does this hws perform at night time with a flashlight on your rifle? Can you see the red dot with the flashlight on? I haven’t seen any videos on that and was just curious. Thanks in advance

What happens when your battery dies? Does it lose zero after you change it out and have to re-zero? Or constantly feed it batteries?
The zero on red dots is held in place mechanically. No losing zero. Just change the battery.
@@GunBoxTherapy right on thanks for the reply! I just got mine in today and I took off the yellow "lazer warning" that's on the side. Is that fine?
I personally do not remove the laser warning as this is one of the major indicators that people use to determine that it is a legitimate Eotech product.
But I guess this would only concern you if you ever decided to resell it and the buyer attempt to verify if it’s real.
Besides that, I kinda like the way it looks. lol
So what if I’m in a really bad situation and don’t want it to turn off automatically after a certain time? Is there an option for that?
There unfortunately is not. The best piece of advice I’ve heard about that is to treat the up/down buttons like a fidget toy. lol. Click it up then click it down. Repeat that and it will stay on.
Let’s hope that any situation you face though, is remedied within the timer of the up or down button!! Hahah!
Yeah once you hit the up or down button it restarts the timer for the auto shut off. The up and down arrow have two different amounts of time. The up button is 4 hours I think.
Why is this one 8 ounces and the exps3-0 is 11 ounces?

No. There are only 2 models from EOTech available in FDE. The EXPS3 and the XPS2.
The two major differences between the EXPS and XPS lines are the QD lever/slightly higher mount and the buttons on the side vs having them on the back.
If you don’t plan on using a magnifier with the EXPS and I’m assuming you are asking about the EXPS2 because you don’t plan on using NV with them, then in my opinion the XPS2 with a riser would suit you perfect! Or start off without a riser and see how that does.

You could go with the black EXPS2 and get a ranger wrap! Essentially just sticky cordura laser cut for any optic.
