What you are hearing and seeing is the ABS kicking in a correcting a slide or skid, it's not the tires. The tires add grip, the correction you see is ABS.

I have the miata 2005 generation and I have to say that the snow tires is the biggest think to consider in the winter. The drive is excellent in snow even if I have rain tyres.Easy to drive and have fun as well. The problem with all vehicles is the ice when the temperature drops low. Even if you have a suv, the car slides like sleigh glider

But I want another sports car to the garage 😂😂 I'm suppose to justify he Miata as a winter beater to my girlfriend on top some other RWD summer cars that I won't drive in the winter.

1 year too late, but do not put weight in the trunk. With a car with 50/50 weight distribution the only thing you will get is excessive oversteer with weight in the trunk. Any slide will be amplified by the extra weight. With proper snow tires you will not need the extra weight for acceleration grip anyway. Hope everything worked out OK for you. Take the weight out this winter and see how much better it does.

Rudolf Kardos I’ve owned three daily drivers since 1990. The mk1/ND1 had to have the roof replaced at 10 years (about 120,000 miles) because the back window was plastic, and I never unzipped it when I put the back window down. It was driven daily and never saw a garage.
My mk3/ND3a was rarely garaged. I replaced the roof after 12 years ( about 120,000 miles); not because it needed it, but because I wanted to change the color. Bought a new aftermarket top and had it professionally installed for about $800.00 USD.
My experience: except for the plastic windows in the early models which have now been typically updated to glass), the tops are about as indestructible as the rest of the car.

I wonder how the car has done rust wise? not on the body, but in the undercarriage of the uni-body. Specifically by the pinch welds and where the subframes connect into the uni-body, wich is the most important part of the car and the reason why mustangs and camaros go to the junk yard 7 days a week. lol. Just curious, because my mother has a 2014 dodge dart, that has been driven in the winter liquid salt for 5 years now and its showing zero signs of rust anywhere, not even surface rust.. I'm very impressed with Dodge as its the first Dodge vehicle I've ever seen rust free after 5 years.
