I also transcribed Srila Prabhupada’s books early on, in 1968 and 1969, and frankly I never had this problem, perhaps because he had more time in those years. The tapes were always clear, and of course, I did not do the transliteration, my husband Goursundar did that for ChCh. I only did the early ChCh and NOD. But I also would sometimes listen to him in the early morning hours and he would flip though many pages of many books, as Harikesh Prabhu describes, to find just the appropriate word or sentence. His greatest labor of love was his books, it was his life work as this Prabhu describes. So why are we so bold and foolish as to change them? The edited books have lost the “writer’s voice” , Srila Prabhupada’s writer’s voice, that is so sweet and spiritually inspiring. Truly, if anyone ever experienced the beauty and clarity of Srila Prabhupada’s verbal translations, typing those tapes, I can assure you that such a person would NEVER agree to read the edited (bowlerized) versions being put out by the bbti, incorporated. (These edited editions of his books are NOT put out by the BBT trust created by Srila Prabhupada)
My service is transcribing my Gurudev's lectures/books and the trouble I have looking for Sanskrit quotes is huge, but I have Vedabase, and a handful of similar databases, as well as all Prabhupada's books and all the bhajans etc at my fingertips, I can only imagine and empathise with the herculean task you faced every day. Thank you, you have inspired me and put things in perspective. Thank you for your amazing service🙏🙏🙏

You are conditioned soul with 4 defects . You cannot speak on Prabhupad's behalf so lightly as if you know what he is thinking right now. Study some Vaisnava etiquette . Dont be so sure that the way you calculate is the exact same way as Srila Prabhupad did or does. You might be right with your claim , you might be wrong , we dont know , but your method is wrong, you claim you know but it can be a guess only . The amount of preaching Harikesh pr did in such extremely hard conditions (USSR and the rest) might still be much more pleasing to Srila Prabhupad then the rest of us still being devotees . Most of us just hanging in. He was fighting Maya risking his life on every level to please Prabhupad and he was killed in the war . Its still absolutely glorious .We are enjoying the facilities of the society that he died for .Think about it . Or maybe you dont know what kind of risks he took to spread KC and how much he sacrificed for Prabhupad's mission .
