Way too hard for a Mickey Mouse game. I cried real tears as a 6 year old kid, unintentionally killing Mickey over and over, powerless to stop his death, his tortured face looking right at me, as if to say “how could you let this happen to me”.
Bruce Howard, agreed; me and my siblings played this a lot when we were kids; my favorite bosses to battle were the giant spider and the fire monster, in addition, I loved having Mickey wear the fire gear, shooting water was more effective against enemies...

I have this game on my phone. The only downside to this game is it was way to easy and the damn game only had like 5-6 levels for the entire game. Still fun to play tho

I remember my parents renting this for me once when I was sick, and I thought it was going to be a little baby's game where I had to spell words and whatnot, boy was I wrong. This is one of the gems of the SNES and I'd still play it today.
+Antonio Navarrete ASIDE from the god awful mickey mouse sprite which had zero animation(no blinking), looked odd and had those dead beady little shark eyes. :P thankfully, Capcom corrected this in the follow up sequel Circus Mystery. Still, castle of illusion had the best mickey sprite and animation, no contest! Not to mention it was a little more creative, imaginative and had a better soundtrack that felt more Disney than either of the snes games

After Pete rescues Pluto from the haunted woods, Mickey decides he wants the pet he abandoned back. With the magical kingdom lacking a proper court or justice system, Mickey decides to take the law into his own hands and waterboards Pete in his own home until he gives the animal back to his abuser.
Ah, so many good memories, I used to play this game again and again, was one of my favourites, and since I hated passwords I used to finish it in one sit. My memory may fail but I think you can get an extra life if you go through the beaver's dam underwater.
Nostalgia. Still own the cartridge. My favorite Mickey Mouse game ever, long before Kingdom Hearts changed everything. The bird boss is my favorite part. Man, this game had Pete like no other Disney media EVER DID THEN OR SINCE.
Despite this video having 1M views, I think this game is very underrated, when people talk about 16 bit Dinsey games most talk about the ones made by Sega, Virgin Interactive and Traveler's Tale, + Capcom Aladin mostly to say it's inferior to Virgin's one, and I think this game is just as memorable and well made as those other titles.
This old Mickey Mouse games were awesome platform games. The SNES, Mega drive games were great games. Sadly it seemed that when games entered the 3D era it was the end of great mickey mouse games :(

@Mysterious Meon It's not Capcom's call, it's Disney's, Capcom can't just decide out of nowhere to remake an old game featuring characters they don't own the rights to. Capcom didn't do the Ducktales remake either, WayForward did, and they would probably be the best choice for a Magical Quest remake.
Really quite disappointed by the lack of secret finding. There were outfit upgrades, health increases, etc. Felt more like a speedrun than a longplay... but I suppose they still beat it and never died, so that's admirable.
From the golden age of video games SNES was; my sister's godfather gave this game to her (of course, we all got to play it, me and my other sister that is); for the most part, I had Mickey in the firefighter's outfit too, I don't know why but I think I liked the shooting water; I found both the magician and the climbing outfits useless; I remember having difficulty with the first two bosses (the winged monster with the yellow overalls and the snake), although, I don't remember which one I had the most trouble with...
The only reasonable aspect of this game is that there are only six worlds and it’s infinite continues. They even start you out wherever you last died after continuing. Castle of Illusion is better imho...especially the master system one.

I remember owning the GBA rerelease of this gem as a kid. I know that makes me a lil younger than most of these commenters, but it goes to show how those kinds of rereleases could make a game cross the generational gap. I just think that’s really wonderful

This made me realize that the first 3 levels are somewhat connected. You start on the top of the trees, in the clouds. Then you get to the forest, where trees have faces. Then you get to the bottom, where the trees take root in LAVA, as you can see in the background.
I just bought a used copy of this for the Super Famicom. It's one of those classic games where you don't need to know another language to play it. Capcom made some killer games in the SNES era.
Being a mega drive/genesis owner and loving the mickey series of games by capcom as a kid.I remember seeing this at my friends house who owned a snes and just being amazed at how different the gameplay was in comparison to castle of illusion/world of illusion.I think i may have to invest in a Snes for this ;)
I wasn’t a huge gamer kid and I play once a year if that now, but I *loved* this when I was young (I had the Gameboy version, SNES predated me a little). I was starting to convince myself I dreamed it, levels were locked tightly in the recesses of my brain.
For the record, the freaking giant sabertooth fish that could leap out of the water and swallow you in a heartbeat gave me FREAKING nightmares as a kid.
You still get yoshi games, mario kart games, starfox games, street fighter games, zelda as it is now would be nothing without "a link to the past", donkey kong games... => SNES gave nintendo the edge it needed to take over SEGA. Now SEGA are their bottom bitch and you find Sonic on nintendo consoles :D

The artists at capcom and other studios really captured the Disney aesthetic in these snes era games. They are beautiful. Another feather in shinji mikami’s cap.
Played this when I was a wee lad at my nana's and never got past the first level. Just beat it tonight almost 25 years later. Pete was a headache but magic seemed to wear him down a lot faster than the firehose.
I think I had a bugged copy of this game when I was little, as I could never get past the fire breathing face boss. I always ran out of water for Mickey's hose and extinguishing the flames on the rotating platforms never made any hydrants spawn to resupply the magic. Did anyone else ever encounter this?
This game was off the hook, fun and enjoying, I love Mickey and Pete my favorite characters and friends and enemies. It kind of made it look like involve human possession

I never played this kid as a child, but I believe I might have seen this longplay hundreds of times before. Seeing this was very nostalgic.

Fire Grotto is my favorite stage in this whole game, everything about this stage from the design and the music is so Ghouls N Ghosts

shadoow ball I think it's a type of Bayonett, they're blunt weapons sometimes attached to the end of guns.

Class game. Awesome soundtrack 👌 especially the creepy forest level. Brings back so much sentimental value and nostalgia 😁

Played this when I was a wee lad at my nana's and never got past the first level. Just beat it tonight almost 25 years later. Pete was a headache but magic seemed to wear him down a lot faster than the firehose.
Aside from Super Mario World (which came with the system), this is the first game I had for SNES, close to 25yrs ago.

what's with the ghosts that appear after every major boss battle?
I think I had a bugged copy of this game when I was little, as I could never get past the fire breathing face boss. I always ran out of water for Mickey's hose and extinguishing the flames on the rotating platforms never made any hydrants spawn to resupply the magic. Did anyone else ever encounter this?
even mickey mouse had an absolute banger of a game in the snes era. never would happen today
This game was off the hook, fun and enjoying, I love Mickey and Pete my favorite characters and friends and enemies. It kind of made it look like involve human possession
When you first get to the bird boss but you don't know what to expect and the music starts 'omg what is it going to be'
