Tanjirou being basically the same character becomes so hilarious when everyone else is such an asshole XD
His family being abusive has to be the simplest yet most effective twist to turn Tanjiro's character upside-down. He is the same guy but because everyone is so shitty, it turns him into someone who's either incredibly oblivious, or extremely sarcastic
But that's a hallmark of a bad abridged series.

To this day I don’t understand why Nezuko can’t actually speak like literally every other demon. Her having an inner monologue is hilarious 😂
If I understand correctly (which it's quite possible I don't) Nezuko can speak, but the gag is put in place to help prevent the possibility of her eating someone, and the not allowing her to talk is just a side effect of that.

I'm pretty sure it's part of the demon life cycle. After "rebirth" they go through a period of animalistic feral urges that overwhelms their senses of rationality and morality. It's only after they've been hunting for a while (and attaining soul-crushing levels of guilt/hedonism) that they regain their abilities to speak and think clearly.

The writing is so damn lovely. Who would have thought giving Urodaki mental disorders and split personalities would give him more depth. And it makes sense because of his age!
And who knew giving Nezuko an inner voice with sass would give her more depth as well?
The first demon Tanjiro encounters tries to rectify the awkward situation he's in instead of immediately going ham on Tanjiro! Reminding you that he used to be human and still has a little humanity left in him. And Tanjiro being overly optimistic, but practical and not too blinded by his optimism.

@@Daioblis I don't just mean when he panics in combat. I mean every fucking moment he's communicating in the early episodes involving him, he's *screeching* like he has no other volume. And while I agree with your point of being afraid of such creatures as are portrayed in the show, which a normal human definitely would be, I don't think many humans would be nearly anything as pathetic as he is about it. Some, sure, but not as many as you might think. A more common response to despair (outside of immediate danger situations) is stuff like apathy or coping mechanisms like substance abuse; screeching, wailing panic is usually an acute response, it lasts as long as the adrenaline surge; one might get it on learning the awful news or realisation of how bad they are, on contact with the overwhelming enemy, etc... It's not something that's supposed to last for days or weeks, basically uninterrupted. As for the point of it being comedic, I understand that, and it was funny at first. Not so much when it didn't stop after three entire episodes. Anyways, sorry for the wall of text, I just wanted to explain my perspective. You're allowed to find early Zenitsu funny, humour is subjective by nature, but on the same token, I'm allowed to find him unbearable. I started warming up to the character later on in the show anyways, it's the early stuff that grated on my nerves.

@@maximsavage The early stuff is literally when he's first introduced. Of course it's not gonna mellow out then.
And yeah, most people wouldn't panic as much as he does, or at least continuously without getting toughened up by it. But the difference is, those people actually have to face their challenges and overcome them. Zenitsu always ends up out cold and doesn't even know that he subconsciously saved the day, always assuming he was saved by someone else thanks to luck.
Zenitsu in general is funny but also pathetic. I can see why people would get tired of him, but that's their own problem for not expanding their horizons and sticking to just wanting rough'n'tough fighters that get scared but still fight anyway, rather than someone that has zero belief in his abilities and acts accordingly.
And for the record, I'm indifferent towards Zenitsu. The only part I like about him was protecting Nezuko with his life without knowing what he was protecting was a pretty girl. His most admirable moment, but the only one.

My head canon: The tangu guy is actually the goblin slayer after he completed his dream. Now his insane with his demon killing side taking control.
That's unfortunate. I was hoping this was a crossover setup where Goblin Slayer tries to kill Urokudaki.
Ran out of Goblins, made a mask to celebrate. Then I found out about FILTHY DISGUSTING DEMONS. So I became Demon Slayer, but Table told me that was already trademarked. So I went with Orokodaki.
My head canon is inosuke in the actual anime is just goblin slayer.

That line always gets me beacuse it seems so mundane yet being unconscious for that long is really bad for you illustrating how dangerous Urokodaki"s training and mental state are and later how pointless it is and how Tanjiro just accepts all this with little evidence that any of this will actually cure his sister.
I love the concept of Tanjiro hearing grunts and groans from nezuko, yet we can hear what she's trying to say. Gave me Nail/Piccolo vibes and I love it
This makes me want to rewatch demon slayer again.
