The fact that Tifa doesn't say a single word in that entire ending is so overlooked... She is the most devastated out of everyone

Putting a focus on how devastated Tifa is in the end was an inspired choice that they made, Cloud is off in multi-verse cuckoo land so Tifa gives us the sense of loss that originally came from Cloud in 1997.

You’re damn right. What’s even more heartbreaking is that tifa has lost her town, her dad, her best friend to this evil person. And she couldn’t save them. And it wasn’t like sephiroth deliberately killed them to get to tifa, it’s jsut that they HAPPENED to be in his way or plan. He literally didn’t think much of tifa, although the remake indicates he does consider her to be an obstacle more so (I literally want a one on one Mano e Mano moment between the two where tifa finally gets her shot at sephiroth). There is a sense of loss hanging over her. Tifa has lost a shockingly a lot of people. Cloud can’t exactly say that per se. The inspect of these losses is shown here. Tifa HAS NOT SAID. A word. She literally has shut down. When she sees cloud talking crazy she can’t even object. She sighs. What is Barrett thinking now when he turned to tifa. Could be a lot. He is shocked and concerned that cloud is…dosnt seem to care about what jsut happened…and he seems robotic. Do we leave cloud here because he is gone mentally? Should we help him? Talk to him? He looks over to tifa the one gal who kinda gets cloud and..nothing.

@@Akkumako cloud lost his mom and zak. He wasn’t close to his father as his father died/left when he was too young. Obviously he did care for avalanche but he wasn’t as close to them as say Barrett and tifa were. Tifa is still alive. He also does not think aerith is … well whatever she is. Tifa on the other hand cared about her home, her mom her dad, Jessie Biggs, wedge and now aerith.literally she has lost nearly everything

He saved aerith with the parry. Her consciousness escaped to the timeline he created with the parry. Thats why sephiroth said he underestimated her. She trusted cloud to make the right move for her. Despite sephiroth corrupting his mind. Cloud made the chess move for her.
He sees both worlds. "Have my blessing". Part 3 clpud will know aerith is alive and he is correct. Party will know shes dead and they are also correct. Player will have psychological distress haha.

Yes! Cloud knows what's going on with the different worlds and is experiencing them simultaneously. That's why his limit break is empty.
She trusted him saying, "Whatever happens, don't blame yourself." The black whispers let him walk thru the door cuz he had malicious puppet intent. The white & black whispers are flying everywhere cuz Cloud could epicly defy fate. I like to think he was able to overcome his jenova cells & snap out of his puppetness cuz he loves her so much.
She's absolutely alive somewhere as Sephy admitted he underestimated her!

Don't own a PS5 ourselves, so watching playthroughs on CZcams were very much me and my sister's only way of experiencing this game. Bounced around a bit before stumbling onto yours. Glad we stuck with yours, cause it was by far one of the best playthroughs we've seen for any game. And man, what a journey this turned out to be.

i dont think youve heard of the massive multiplayer online role playing game known as final fantasy xiv, its got a free trial that includes the first 2 expansion packs, a level cap of 70, and no obligation to pay for anything until you want to play further, its been around since 2013, and its been massively successful, so maybe the best thing square has released in the past 3-4 years

It makes me so sad to see Tifa completely devastated… not only she lost her best friend Aerith, but she also lost her biggest source of support which is Cloud.
Cloud is out of it, he doesn’t even realize Aerith is dead. And I feel like Aerith still showing up is her way of trying to keep him from completely crumbling down. Aerith is so amazing, even in death she’s still there for them. I love her; I love them all 🥺❤️

I think the white materia is what allows cloud to see aerith. It seems like the materia shows that the world they are in can be inverted as if the world united with another.
Maybe the split in the sky is not an illusion.
The struggle will be if Cloud can decipher when is she real and when is it a illusion from sephiroth.
Before aeriths death we see sephiroth look at clouds eyes. Usually his pupils dilate when he uses his illusion stuff on cloud. Cloud probably thought he blocked sephiroth but actually missed and saw nithing but an illusion.
Clouds mind in part 3 will be horrifying.
Lets pray the real cloud is shown by part 3.

I watched the Premiere a little bit behind the live stream because I wrote my exam before this. But watched most parts of this video. Congrats on beating the game Mandy. It’s clearly amazing to see how much you loved this game. It was so nice to see your entire Playthrough here on CZcams. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Congrats on finishing! Some tips whenever you tackle hard mode, highly recommended to be at max level 70. It also helps to have majority of your materia maxed out, esp MP Absorb/HP Absorb, elemental, magic efficiency, magic focus, swiftcast. Transmutting the Genji Gloves helps break the 9,999 magic damage limit.The brutal and legendary combat challenges that have Zack and Sephiroth are a major PIA and very challenging, took me forever to complete all VR challenges. Even though you can't use items and benches for MP recovery on hard mode, you can use the chocobo rest stops out in the world to restore both HP+MP.

Here's my hypothesis on the Zack situation: It was never an alternate timeline. Zack is dead, but the Jenova cells in his body are allowing him to cruise the lifestream in much the same way as Sephiroth. Consider what he says to Biggs: "I want to know that this world is one that I chose." Like Sephiroth, he's trying to create a new reality for himself; yet unlike Sephiroth, he's not willing to kill everyone around him to make it happen.
@@tumitomas783 Zack is a SOLDIER. All SOLDIER candidates are injected with Jenova cells and exposed to mako radiation upon initiation. Zack, together with Cloud, was injected with another helping of Jenova cells while held prisoner in Shinra manor, but showed no reaction due to his previous conditioning.
Zack has Jenova cells.

So here's a fun fact, all of cait siths predictions actually came true throughout the game, the most striking one to me was "watch your belongings, lucky colour black",
and what does cloud do? Sticks the materia in the buster sword...
She still has a more important role to play, guess septh doesn’t know.
But what if on the off chance that Cait sith’s predictions are actually opposite of what they mean?
You will find what you seek. But you will loose what you cherish most.
I’d argue cloud’s moist valued object or person to him now is his identity. More so than his love for both aerith or tifa. The identity literally breaks him. Aerith’s death in the OG Didnt. Neither did when he thought tifa died or was close to death in the the remake (2x) and the OG. But his identity caused him to act out or subconsciously make new memories.this dosnt mean cloud DOSNT CARE, he does. It’s jsut that there is a degree of self preservation/selfishness in in him. Really think on it, he may be depressed if aerith or tifa died, but he still holds onto his greatest wish-to be a soldier. He can still act all macho and tough and the Lone Ranger.
Dont you worry, cloud wi lose that. Now as to how we don’t know. Cloud is in. A worse state. In the OG he had least gave a speech about finding sephiroth and accepted her death. Here? Even if cloud is correct on some theories (that aerith is alive, that what he saw in the sky is. A illusion), he has completely lost it in a way that he didn’t in the OG.

Tifa lost two people. One is physically gone while the other is mentally gone.
The church scene was her final goodbye. She knew what was gonna happen. Sephiroth walking in showed (at least to me) that no matter which world/realm/timeline etc they were in, he's gonna be there going after her.

Not sure why Aerith said this in Remake, but I immediately remembered the line, after Zack followed the yellow flowers, in this final chapter of Rebirth.

I was fortunate enough to be able to enjoy this game as soon as it went on sale and I have to say that it was totally worth it, since I was able to play REMAKE I was looking forward to this second part. Something to remember and that is how I got to know you was with this saga watching reactions to previous games in the saga, then I came to her Twitch channel where I saw her enjoy and also cry with game number 16. I knew that at some point you were going to play REBIRTH and I followed every reaction to any trailer that was going to come out and by the time this adventure finally started, I wanted to relive those emotions once again and I started watching the videos. I was afraid to reach the final moments since I knew there would be a lot of crying (I also cried watching you) the language was also a limitation since I am Chilean and my language is Spanish, but that did not stop me from enjoying every second watching your videos . I really liked the message he had given in the video before this one where he implied that special connection he has with this game and with its characters and that is why the emotions he transmits at every moment is something that, like you, I feel. a lot when playing and being told that it's just a video game. I ended up becoming very fond of this saga and a large part of that is thanks to you. I know that when the third part comes out we will be attentive to see the conclusion of the trilogy. Thank you very much for making me relive every moment and feel like the first time I played it, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. (If the message is not understood it is because I used the translator so I could read it, the language barrier does not stop me from enjoying its content)

The music, the graphics, dialogue, VA's and just the whole game has been a journey. The emotions, feelings, and yet the atmosphere.

For me, Aerith and Zack they were turned into something with summons, supposed by white and transparent matter, one day I'll make a video about, rebirth and advance children also imply that they both became a type of summon, remember Gilgamesh is a summon that travels between worlds in a certain way .
Absolutely amazing game. I do feel the way they did Aerith's death took away from the feeling and moment of it, I mean the execution of it could have been handled better. Square told new players they don't need to play OG or know any other FF7 media and I think that was a disservice to players. Many new players felt more confused than sad at her death scene cause they don't know if she's dead or not, so that could have been done better. On top of this, they put 10 intense boss fights right after, so even if you were sad, that quickly goes away because you are stunlocked into very long prolonged boss fights. Other than these things, the game was truly incredible
I just finished the game last night. I was initially disappointed that Aerith's death did not play out like it did in the original, and I almost rage quit due to the 10 phase battle with Jenova and Sephiroth. But I'm glad I didn't and after reflecting on it for about 12 hours and watching other players' reactions, including yours, I found that her death and the reactions of the other party members, particularly Tifa's, still packed an emotional punch.
I don't know if the Aerith we see afterward is from another world or if she's a spirit that only Cloud can see, but one thing is for certain: Cloud is now in both complete unreliable narrator and denial modes. He is mentally unable to accept that she is gone and is clinging to the reality that he is still able to see her. Get ready: we're probably going to see Aerith's death in full detail in part 3, and it's going to be devastating.

If anyone is wondering about the last scene with Glenn and Rufus, just keep in mind Glenn was in a black robe the whole game, Rufus shot him in the back in a past game (which isn't a spoiler because they show that clip), and Jenova impersonates anyone. I think Sephiroth was jerking with Rufus to coax him into making particular decisions, of which Sephiroth seems satisfied with the decisions he made.

Such an amazing journey. I finished my play through a month ago and I still haven’t wrapped my head around the ending. For fun I’m choosing to believe that at the end, this is the most sane Cloud has been in this game and for obvious reasons, the team have feared he has completely lost it. It’d be such an interesting dynamic between the cast.
Man, I’m 70/30 on preferring the teams work on new entries vs remakes but, I loved everything about the first two entries. Seeing how well the world and characters I love were expanded and fleshed out has been such a special experience.

I always felt that 7 seconds until the end was a call back to Sephiroth taking 7 seconds to land that fateful attack on Aerith and the implications from that deflection.

42:28 as sephiroth revealed to cloud in the life stream right before this, all the “lingering worlds” or “altered fate worlds” are doomed to fade. All these altered timelines with “different destiny’s” all collapse back to the one true reality in which destiny does have effect. Zack is trying his hardest to preserve a timeline in which he makes it back to aerith, that’s why he’s getting tossed around so many realities, the planets destiny is trying to remove him while he’s doing his best to elude it through multiple branching timelines. We shall see if he succeeds or not in part 3
Zack for whatever reason has become aware of his doomed fate, hence his line about fate having a twisted sense of humor that he is always the punchline of, but instead of facing his “destiny” he jumps down the side of the reactor, creating more branches, he’s become so aware that he is now knowingly fracturing the timeline
This ending broke me 💛 one of the best games
On the Glenn thing: Rufus killed Glenn at some point in the past and he really is dead. Jenova/Sephiroth are making a random robed man appear as Glenn to manipulate Rufus into war against Wutai, knowing that Glenn would be able to get under his skin, which will distract him from their plans. Basically Glenn is dead and Rufus has been talking to Sephiroth the whole time, who is orchestrating the war to further his own goals
There is a theory on reddit that I feel like is the closest to what happened. Gist of the theory is all the alternate world we see are lifestreams. This is supported by what npcs in cosmo canyon and sephiroth himself says. What happened with cloud was that he touched the border between lifestream and real world and can now see into the lifestream. Aerith is in the lifestream same way she was in Advent children. Cloud is seeing her from lifestream and believing he saved her but she is dead in real world. That's why rest of the party can't see her and only nanaki senses her through lifestream and the reason behind her sad goodbye. I believe this is setting up for part 3 where we will see aerith's pov of saving the planet. How sephiroth was blocking her and how she used the lifestream to stop the meteor.

Would be interesting if every alternate world is an illusion except the one that Zack came from. Only by defeating the boss whispers was reality truly, physically changed just one and only time. The world where Zack rescued the sleeping Aerith wasn't real, but the one he visited at the end of remake, hoping to meet Aerith at the church is our world, the OG world.
Edit: Yes, I know most of you will want to say how and why I'm wrong below. Please don't. I just feel if Square wanted to keep things the same, there wouldn't be the changes we see.
Part 1 comment, will have others when finished with video:
I have said previous that I never played the OG, only parts so I can't really count that. I do know some of the story and lore though. So despite the anguish of being unable to avoid Aerith's fate, my heart tells me something is different this time. That you get to fight along side Zack, however briefly, is different. That Aerith seems to be alive yet dead, switching between them, is different. This tells me that, even if she cannot be saved necessarily in this game, those differences mean something. Even Aerith said it in the previous video: Even a future already written can be changed. She knew she would die- she's saying that too can be changed. I know from what Brianna has said that they tried to keep lines close where possible to what the original VAs said; what Aerith said there means Square has something further planned. So while it's hard to watch *that* moment, I still retain a spark of hope.
Part 2: Not much I can add. Only that...if Zack and Aerith live still as we seem to see, then there's hope still. The difference in the one scene. The deflection. Things just feel different. "No reason they can't unite again." There's more we don't yet know. We'll have to wait a few more years to know. So let the flame that we'll see Aerith again, even return to the team, continue to burn.
And maybe look forward to a certain scene under the Highwind. 😁

I've said it before I say it again square enix is keeping us all guessing they know what's going down there's uncertainty here some say she dead some say she alive its uncertainty here square is keeping us all guessing you dont know what's gonna happen and I like it like that we won't know until we play ff7 part 3
You realize that they all had limit breaks at the jenova fight except cloud, because hes the one who still thinks she’s alive
Hello! Lore friendly person here to kinda explain whats up for those who didnt catch it like 99% of people didnt without a replay or digging deeper.
The Aerith we are seeing at the end, is an Aerith from a separate timeline. That is why the Aerith who comes through the gate to assist cloud with the final battle vs sephiroth is missing the white materia in her hair - it had been used already.
Sephiroth is trying to edit the timelines with his black whispers to slowly steer fate into his favor, unfortunately for our Aerith. She was never meant to die, but Sephiroths meddling made it so. Cloud in the "original" timeline saves Aerith directly resulting in meteors defeat with the white materia, but Sephiroth redirected the current clouds fate so he did not.
The Aerith from the original timeline caught wind of this, hence why Sephiroth is saying "I underestimated you." As she is actively foiling his plans via a different timeline. That is also why no one but Cloud can see her - as Sephiroth and Aerith are actively altering Clouds fate, not the others.
Alternatively, the Zack and Aerith we see may be from a doomed timeline where the white materia was defeated, hence Zacks comment of "save her" - as Cloud defeating Sephiroth for good would make fate work as intended, Zack dying in his timeline, and Aerith living in that timeline as well. Though this last point is just speculation from zacks comment, cant wait to see the next game!
This could be right or it could be wrong, nothing was confirmed and it all was left open eneded for speculation. We have to wait until next game.
if the final fight scene has Aerith from the OG timeline, then why does she have have the same materia that you specifically equip for her as opposed to a pre-set materia or something? Jw

It is a series, with KIWAMI being the first game, followed by 0 and now 8. It has a completely different worldview from FF, so it may not suit your taste, but please give it a try.

I do think it’s another neat little piece of meta-commentary about the nature of remakes that people who have played the original game turn out to be their own worst enemy by unequipping everything of value from Aerith before the final gauntlet, but they could have been a little more insistent about equipping your whole party to make the party member shuffle extravaganza less of a chore.
I love the story of the remake trilogy so far. I just don’t like how so much is just story dumped on the end

This ending was so epic and heartbreaking at the same time. I cried through the final battles. Won’t be the same without Aerith- she was the heart and soul of the group.

Unless this ability is a curse? Because as Sephiroth said at 1:30:19: "just as world unite, so too do they APART"

Im not a fan of the ending personally. It should have been a moment of grieve and loss and I didnt feel any of the two, only confusion. But it doesnt take away from the overall experience. ✌️

So, Aerith is dead. However, no one else can see her, but cloud. Because he can't accept her death, so...

They took the unreliable narrator role to a new level.
During their last date in the Pomeranian Universe, "No Promises to keep" is being played instrumental. The Developers put this song on purpose there because its actually a Love song for Aerith to Cloud, no matter what people say. In the official Website for No Promises to Keep, Aerith and Clouds date was shown, special CD edition also had Aerith and Clouds Skywheel date. And on top of that, in the Rebirth CD, this Instrumental No Promises to Keep is named "One last Date". It dosent make sense to be a song for Everyone. Because those who played the OG and Remake, knows, that Aerith and Cloud meet under the Loveless sign in the streets, like the Lyrics says. Aerith didnt meet anyone ion the Streets. Zack she meet for the first time in the church, Tifa in Don Corneo, Elmyra in train station, Marlene in 7. Heaven, Barret in Shinra Building together with Nanaki. Loveless is also a Play about Aerith and Cloud, its more then obvious because their Pose and embrace is the same as on their last date and other moments, but also it foreshadows the end for the game. Loveless Play dosent make sense for Tifa or Yuffie. Both of them talk about Hero and stuff, Aerith is the only one who talks about "Love conquering", making it more obvious.
People hating Aerith and not understanding her character, say that Aerith is forcing Cloud to do stuff. But they disrespecting Cloud themself, because while he is Mentally 16, he can choose for himself as he did always. Around Aerith he knows that she wants to spend time with him and he enjoys it, because Aerith is the first woman who apporached him and broke the defensive wall he created. While sometimes he felt unconfortable, he actually liked the experience. Its something he would laugh years later. For example his dancing,. Cloud enjoys being praised and to show off how cool he is. He only danced for Aerith because if she didnt enjoy it, he would not dance. Only embarassing part is the Crossdressing which he wants to forget. But it was also the only way to get to Don Corneo. During their date, Cloud was confused and he knew that something is strange with Aerith. For those who is in love with someone and watches them every day(Cloud and his friends traveled 2 weeks from the beginning of Rebirth till Aeriths death) and those who pays attention to the one they love, they know when the person is acting strange. Aerith who knows she was found by Sephiroth, wants to have her last dream Date with Cloud and for him not to kill early, she wants to do everathing fast, which Cloud regonizes as her being strange today. Because usually Aerith is chill. But since they are on a date, he acts like a cool boyfriend, coughing in his fist to collect himself, before asking her what she wants. Cloud then is very proud with a smile on his face, having chosen a present for Aerith but then he geta all disappointed and pissed.
But hey, Aerith got a flower thing she put on her left side, the same place she put her flower on Cloud. ///<
Lets hope Cloud catches Sephiroth with the Hollow Materia like a Pokemon!
The great thing about this and the OG is that we all get our own canon. Interesting the interpretation you have and well reasoned. I’m ride or die with Tifa myself but if she’s a 100 then Aerith is a 99, loved them
both so much and every other character in the party as well. The character writing in both Remake and Rebirth is so good. Can’t wait for part three either!

Nptk is about cloud no matter what people say and the people in question being the writer of the damn song. Also the developer stated in the ultimania that no gold saucer dates are canon. They are just dating sim scenario outside of the main story. However, HOW cloud behaves is canon and there is only one person he kissed

Lol did you edit out your first attempt? There’s a cut in your video during the white flash before Zack shows up for the first Sephiroth phase, and then you said “again!?” to the end is nigh as if you’d seen it before. No shame in dying and needing multiple attempts, but editing them out and then faking your reactions as if it were your first time playing through kind of is :/ also for the wings, you need to use the elemental weakness.

Hey Mandy, did you feel Aeris' death didn't feel as impactful as it did in the original? I was also unsure of whether Cloud saves her at first, and there isn't any sort of closure in the original where she gets to say goodbye. The original is pretty straightforward and doesn't have worlds colliding or being ripped apart. Let me know what you think.

In regards to Aerith's "death", just think of it as a parallel timeline. Cloud was successful in deflecting Sephiroth's Masamune. The deflection created a parallel timeline where Aerith could survive in. You can tell because it created a rainbow effect, the same effect that happened every time Zack made a decision. In essence, she dies in the "Rebirth" timeline but survives in the "Deflection" timeline. So, not only is there every reason to believe Aerith will make an appearance in part 3, the devs have alluded to Aerith coming back in part 3.

Oh yeah he was successful but Aerith with the white whispers corrected it upon looking at the masamune in the ground white whispers cover it and we see the blood on the ground and Aerith falls. A cool concept to introduce what fans wanted to see while also making good use of the whisper stuff while still not deviating from og to a point where it's not FF7 anymore.
