I once bought a can of pepper spray in Florida and the lady in the gun store said this is even good for bears ! "And if it ain't work y'all can bring it right back , ya hear !"
Like he says, carrying a can of bear spray doesn't automatically ward off bears. Gotta be smart and have back up. I tend to carry spray and pistol. Pistols are nice, but you need to be very accurate. Spray doesn't have to be accurate. #1 thing that helps in bear encounters is number of people in your group. Alone or only 2-3 people increases the odds of a bad outcome. I recently was with a group of 10 people when a bear attempted to get into our camp. Lots of yelling was enough for him to reconsider.
We had a similar encounter. It came within 20 feet of us and was agitated. The guy I was with shot it in the face with a .22 pistol because it’s all we had . It ran off faster than usane bolt. Scare me half to death
A Ruger Redhawk revolver chambered in 45 Colt, with Underwood Ammo's 250 grain Xtreme Penetrator rounds. It is a six shot revolver (Revolvers do not fail to extract or fail to feed, and they will still work if and when pressed into a bears ribs) which is plenty of ammo to get the job done. The 45 Colt also has light recoil for easy follow-up shots. Go to one knee and shot for the bear's brain. Bear spray is only good for curious bears, not ones that are in full attack mode. There are too many things that have to align in one's favor for bear spray to work on their behalf, of which practice could never make up for if things are not lined up in their favor. I would get the pistol at ready first, and then if there is time to opt for bear spray I would do so. But the pistol would always be the first line of defense against a bear.
First video that has ever talked about the wind. Amazing! Where i live we carry guns, wind blows too much. Gentlemen, if you want to know if the wind will affect the spray, pee into the wind. Did you get wet? That's why we use guns here.
@@michaelm1053 yes just do not get caught spraying it on someone depending on if ur in canada or not u can get the same charge as a deadly weapon and use of toxic chemicals on a person.
@@needahblunt you clearly don’t know what your talking about “deadly weapon” “toxic chemicals” it’s peppers in a can you goof you’ll get charged with assault with a weapon bear spray is non lethal🤦♂️ and not a chemical it’s concentrated capsaicin wich is not toxic nor deadly get your facts straight before you come commenting clueless shit clearly you haven’t had a can in your life nor researched one🤣🤣
There is this woman on late night TV selling butt crack deodorant. Stuff is suppose to make you smell like a pineapple. Spray some of this on and confuse the hell out of the bear. By the time he figures out that pineapples are edible you can make a fast exit. What ever you do, don't call him Yogi. It pisses him off.
I’ll discuss it in another video but that is not at all with the data says. The three studies that I’m aware of all show that bear spray is more effective than a firearm at having a good outcome versus a charging bear. Don’t shoot the messenger
I've not seen consistent information about use below freezing. Local bears are staying out until much later and well below freezing, observed as low as -15C locally. Will the spray work? It's stored in a heated garage but if I'm out for several hours, what can I expect?
Wait, as long as you don’t get it in your eyes it’s still safe and effective as bear deterrent. I carry two cans, one I spray all over my self and equipping before each hike and the other is for the bear if i see one.
Best tip I have is to spray the ground and not the animal. You don't have to hit them with it, in fact it's more effective when you don't. Spray the ground and they will stop.
Dude... You're aiding the bears with this video as well. Now they know all these tips too!
That fuckkking bear scared me lol
Me too😂😂
When that bear overlay jumped out at the 20 second mark it scared the crap out of me 😂
Same
i think i am the single one who got jumpscare at 0:16
i screamed 💀💀
i jumped too lol
0:24 " There was this French group " ... As a Frenchman, hiking internationaly, I knew this would end funnily xD ... Subscribed !
Bien sur!
Very smart individual with plenty of common sense I just wish more people had some thanks for all these tips if only everyone could follow them

Bear spray in one hand and a gun read in the other just incase for backup
Informative, great video.

Great humor!!!
Bear spray makes the bear get angry then you’re doomed 🐻

Nr.2: Bears wached your clip or not but may attak with the wind. Watcha gonna do? Ask him to come from the other side?
Three 12 gauge shotguns loaded with buckshot is not perfect, but three 12 gauge shotguns loaded with slugs is!
The best!!
Yep
I love how you’re straight in all those plants
Great video. Thanks
It's critical that you can outrun the others in your group!

Inside your jacket, sweater, vest, coat.
Kept warm / accessible. ☆
@@fjb4932 Thanks. Not always possible to keep both inside and accessible. Still didn't answer the question.
They were airlifted to the hospital, the bear also died laughing.

Jameshuntsm😂 that’s great advice.
Great
Carry a gun bear spray is a joke. Didn't even stop a charging black bear on me Im glad I had my 10mm
Great tips!
I use Montana bear spray
Can we use that on some nasty humans ?
Yep! In my state it's legal!
Would think it would be more effective than regular pepper spray because u don’t have to be as close to attacker

Unless the bear is already standing. Some walk on their hind legs for amazingly long distances when curious.
Have you tested this theory?
Can you use it on humans? 😀
Go buy another one… and they’re expensive!
Guns don't care about the wind, now do they? Best way to stay save is TO STAY OUT OF THE WOODS
