In theory I agree. Yet, Luke has been living out great adventures at home and away for years. As actors I can understand they wanted to shake it up a bit. But as a fan LnL touching each other’s face and snuggling and seeing love flowing from their eyes is just plain dope!
Luke is devolving into alcohol and crime. I am not inferring anything negative about the disease of alcoholism. But he's literally trying to drown his many sorrows. Ironically, TG most likely influenced the breakup of LnL. He was tired of playing Luke and perpetuating the legend of LnL. He also was tired of how the whole saga started with rape. He didn't want to go on talk shows and see the video of the wedding and how it was glorified by the media and the public. I guess after nearly 40 years of playing the same character, he was done.
In more recent years I have scoffed at the idea Sonny and Luke were friends. I had no idea they were giving heart to hearts and like were important stops on their farewell and welcome back tours. It makes sense to be now why Laura thinks she can just stop by Sonny’s house and have opinions on Ava and why Sonny’s friendship was enough to stop Jason from killing Luke when they thought Jake was dead. Their relationship is long and deep, if Tony ever returns I’d like to see more of them.
The writers are horrible why would they do this to Laura she lost all her sense of smarts she lied to Luke if she had told him when she got back none of this wouldn't have happened kidnapped her kidnapped her mother if she was in love with stepon she would have went back wheaher she asw Luke or not she should have never came back
New viewers have no idea the brothership that is between Sonny, Jason and Luke! Then by extension to Laura. If someone ever killed Laura Sonny wouldn’t take a second breath before he loaded up and they would be dead! Also Mac was not only one who raised Robin while her parents were gone! Sonny was just as important to Robin. Robin was more at Sonny’s and Jason’s than she was with Mac. Robin knows what would happen should someone kill her, Sonny would take care of them. That’s why she threatened Faison he better not hurt her. This was GH at its best and Sonny and Luke were best friends.
I find myself in actual agreement with Sonny, he is spot on, Luke alienating Laura nonstop for the last year and instead focusing on his intense "paybacks" and resentments and jealousy over Nikolas being her son, is not healthy, he is being selfish. Had Luke been less resentful and selfish, sucked it up, respected Laura as a mother of 'two sons" and dropped by to see Lulu and Laura more, it would have been "the mature fatherly thing to do". I noticed when Sonny stopped by to see how Laura and Lulu were doing and saw her feeling so "alone, heartbroken" and lost' and telling him Luke had left her, you could see he not only felt for Laura, he saw her side of things also.
Luke showed himself as the typical man. I can get a child by Holly although I was suppose to be mourning my wife, but my wife tht I so called loved could not. Even if she had been kidnapped for years.

If Holly didn't lose the baby, and laura came back and found out that Luke had a his first born with another woman, she would have been outraged. This is weird watching Luke act like he lost all love for Laura.. their forever love .. She ended up getting married alot ,considering the fact that she had a heart of gold. She could fall inlove with Scott, Luke, Stephan ,Kevin and Luke in between. I don't judge that character..She just was a fall inlove kinda character, full of feels and wild, emotions of passion, fierceness, and bold , the heart of a Saint wrapped in one ...😍

Amy was right, Laura needs to figure out what she wants, who she is, breathing room and space. That can be frightening since her men tend to make her an extension of themselves. She needs to be her own person and find a man who allows that, accepts her for who she is,. Clearly Luke will not. Even if Stefan married Catherine, Luke would never accept Nickolas in her life since Stefan is alive, unlike Stavros.

GH writers made a bunch of mistakes with this character. Luke showed no affection towards Jennifer. Luke having some love for Jennifer would of made LnL more complex & a better storyline.
