Keep in mind it can be an overwhelming jump from just designing t-shirts if you don’t know what to expect. Throughout this video we share some of the key steps you should prepare for if you plan on making your own apparel designs. We also share the capabilities of Indie Source a service which can manufacturer your products from start to finish in the USA.

0:00 Intro Into Creating Cut N Sew Apparel From Start To finish
Step 1: 1:09 Planning and Development
During planning and development phase you will figure out your target price points, lead times, the apparel products you are making and the ideal design for them all.
    Step 2: 1:45 Sourcing Fabrics
Once you figure out exactly what you are creating, the next step is in sourcing the materials you need for your clothing line. By being located in Downtown Los Angeles Indie Source is able to source any fabric you need for manufacturing your designs.
    Step 3: 2:54 Pattern Making
The patterns are the blueprint to your fashion line and are used to sew the fabrics together to create your designs. It’s important that you start with the best patterns possible, as any mistakes made in this process create problems for your brand in production.
Step 4: 4:55 Cutting The Fabric
The next step in the process is cutting the fabrics with the patterns that were created.
Step 5: 5:26 Sewing Your Samples
The sampling process brings your streetwear, product or fashion line to life. A small team is in charge of making this happen.
Step 6: 7:18 Fitting The Product
During the fitting process the pattern maker and project manager take notes based on the feedback from the clothing designer. The adjustments are made before it goes to production. You may have to go through numerous fittings before you approve it for manufacturing.
Step 6.5: Pattern Grading and Marking
This is a step we missed during the shoot, but is a key element to the manufacturing of your clothing designs. During pattern grading your base size is turned into additional sizes. This means they will make small, medium, large, x-large, XXL etc. Once those patterns are made they are then organized on the fabrics you chose in a way that will fit as many pieces onto the space as possible (marking).
    Step 7: 9:24 Production
The production process involves mass cutting and sewing of your clothing line. This makes it possible to deliver thousands of units in a short amount of time.
    Step 8: 9:35 Quality Control
Once the mass cutting and sewing is completed they are inspected to ensure you get the best product possible.

This is dope but I imagine it is very expensive. I'm here in NYC in the process of making jeans. There is no place here that has sourcing, manufacturing, and washing at the same place. I have to source my denim alone, found a manufacturer/pattern-maker, and now finding a washhouse.(Only 2 here in the East coast). I have to still look for a place to print things on denim as well as embroidery. I had to source my other materials like hardware from China(custom stuff). Its a big hassle but I think I'll manage. Thanks for the insight on how its goes in LA. Seems so simple and everything at one place there with professionals. I can only imagine the price tag tho.

It probably isn’t possible. If you want to I believe you could create the measurements and dimensions and send that to a manufacturer that can produce your custom design when $You$ demand it. Let say, someone has an idea and wants 10 sample pieces of a garment. $800? $2k? $5k $100k? Lol. Eventually there has to be a market for people just being up front with pricing. And, you can always give a range for each process based on typical designs.

He's probably busy af., but yeah i noticed that too. still fairly nice overall and descriptive and gives us a better understanding of how garments are made from ideas to physical products.
