Thank you. This was the first time I've done a complete rebuild and setup on a diff. So far so good, It has a few street miles and a bunch of 1/4 mile passes on it and is working well.

Nice Monte man. I am working on my '72 Monte... installing disc brakes on the rear. Question for ya if you don't mind- I removed the axles from the 12 bolt and now I have them back in with C clips installed. For the life of me I cannot get the pin all the way back in. I also had a curved washer fall out. I'm struggling without a lift. Anyhow, is there a trick to getting the pin back in?

The curved washers go under the spider gears. As for the pin, it should go in pretty easy. All I can suggest is taking it back apart and double check that everything is lined up properly and try again.

@@bkgaragerestorations Thanks for responding. Do both spider gears have one of these washers? I haven't actually removed anything from the 12 bolt besides the axles and pin...so I don't yet have a full understanding of what the heck is going on in there. Seems like I have to turn an axle till nothing is in the way of the pin. It went in like 90% but is running into something. I dunno, maybe I should just rip it all out and try a rebuild...and also change from the 4:11 to a 3:56 would be huge.
