    Nice video - and happy coincidence - I just picked up a really nice condition Area 51 cabinet, and also an Area 51 Site 4 cabinet - it was a package deal from an Operator who is retiring the games. Both are in great cosmetic shape for being on location for 20+ years. They both need some work - need new power supplies, and the monitors may or may not work - but I got the pair for $500. And they are complete. I am going to keep the Area 51 and do the flash cart upgrade you did in the vid. The site 4 I will fix up and sell - hopefully making the money back I spent on both cabs :)

    Right on man! Love to see the progress of this cool and unique cabinet build! Also great job on resto-modding the OG PCB! Keep up the great content man!

      Thanks! I’m back at it this afternoon. Trying to find out if this 1Up hardware will display on a CRT. I hope so because I need the space and still want to play KI online haha.

      @@KillerArcadeGames Not a problem man! And cool hope you get more stuff done. I am now partially a part of the OG arcade ownership community! I recently scored on a OG RoadBlasters control panel with yoke and game PCB for a great price! I found it on Ebay a couple days ago and just couldn't pass it up. lol I need to figure out what is needed parts wise to get the game running. If you can give me any tips or point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated. Thanks!

      I'm glad to hear it. I don't normally show all of this stuff but I figured I'd try and show more this time around. It may be my last arcade restoration for a while unless I buy one just to fix up and sell.

      Me too haha. It’s going to be a little longer. I’m waiting on lots of parts to come in. I don’t want to rush it though, I’d like to get it how I want it before moving it in.

    I actually have this board and love it! Except, I have the double decker version. Gonna see if it works with the VGA monitor I have in my cabinet.

    The AC input connector on those monitors are notorious for broken solder joints on the connector. I'd flip it over and make sure the joints on the connector are not cracked or try simply pushing on the connector a bit to see if it powers up. It's not normal for them to be TOTALLY dead. They will usually "tick" or make some kind of noise. If it's completely dead, I suspect the AC input connector sockets are spread open, or the solder joints are cracked. As for that hard drive kit, which kit was it? The one I got for the arcade doesn't remember the settings. Did you verify yours is remembering the settings?

    • @KillerArcadeGames
      @KillerArcadeGames  Před 7 měsíci +1

      I’ll have a look! It’s sitting in the garage for now but I’ll check it today. The kit I got was this one: www.ebay.com/itm/125874939002?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=O3gOSzQwTJO&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=La2_eSZ5Q9S&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
      I don’t think it remembers settings. I didn’t mess with it much after verifying it started. I did go back yesterday and hook it up to my KI2 and found it didn’t remember credits that were in it after rebooting. I also noticed the sound doesn’t always work. Sometimes I get nothing, sometimes I get a popping sound and sometimes it actually works. I couldn’t mess with it anymore yesterday but plan to try again today to trouble shoot.

    Hey I know this question doesn't pertain to this video but I wanted the fastest response; what would you recommend as far as a pc for MAME that runs blitz and showtime without stutter and what are the minimum specs as far as processor processor speed and memory etc. I know your videos about it are several years old so I wanted a more updated suggestion Thanks and if you have any links that would be great too

    • @KillerArcadeGames
      @KillerArcadeGames  Před 7 měsíci

      I haven’t bought new PCs for those games yet. This is the PC I use: amzn.to/2SECThf
      It does have some stutter on Showtime but it’s not enough to really bother me. If you want it to run perfectly smooth you’ll probably need a more modern processor like a decently powerful Core i7.

    What genius converts an MK cab with such a raked screen into a shooting game? You would have to lean over the cab to aim correctly.
    I bet the reinforcement of the gun was to stop the cable from getting stressed out when pulled. It’s not pretty but was probably effective

    • @KillerArcadeGames
      @KillerArcadeGames  Před 7 měsíci +1

      I guess a desperate for revenue arcade owner wanted a cheap “new game”. I’ve see. Far worse shooter game conversions haha. One was in a golden tee cabinet, the monitor was basically on its back. So weird.

      I worked for Aladdins castle in the mid 80's to early 90's as a 3rd job. We had 1 mk 2 when brand new had to be collected 3 to 4 times a week. When new it cost 4500 and made over 2k per week in the first 3 weeks. We then got in 2 more and the cash just rolled in. At the end of its life it barely brought in 20 bucks in 7 days. They sold off 2 of the cabinets for 500 each and converted the other one into a tekken. You look at it as an arcade purist how could you ruin a mk2 cab but this is how you made money in the arcade days. Mk2 became a dud at the end of its life plain and simple

    • @beeznutts3323
      @beeznutts3323 Před 7 měsíci

      @@deadmousyplutaprestige8771 my comment has nothing to do with being a purist. I get converting cabs. My point was shooting games need perpendicular screens.
