Thank you all for the video & the music suggestions. Mandy continue helping as many people as you can with the loss of loved ones hopefully they find some peace. It's good that you brought up Samhain as an Irish Pagan myself - " Death is certain but it's only the beginning so embrace it & I'll see you again in the otherworld - Death Before Dishonor " I take that statement very seriously. So to everyone who reads this live your life in the way you choose. 🥃 Sláinte

I am glad this subject is being brought up again as I am currently involved in a complex case of cemetery care regarding a rather controversial new law that has been brought in by the British government in UK regarding the maintenance of gravestones in cemeteries. I am currently working on a paper to present to my local council regarding this issue and your feedback would be really appreciated. Please look out for an email from me soon on this topic! It might even be a good subject for a podcast too!! ⚰️

I sometimes entertain a fanciful idea about death and existence. The idea I call "The Death Dream", is a theory to explain how the brain and mind function during the death process. In short, when we lose contact with the external world and are dying, we experience a kind of fabricated reality very similar to a dream. When dreaming, one typically isn't aware they are in a dream until they awaken from it. This kind of mechanism at death could act as a comfort and way to make the dying process easier, as the brain works to convince the mind that it is still alive, despite actively dying.
The question about existence which I find interesting is, how might one be able to tell if the reality they're experiencing is external or a death dream?

That is beautiful and I hope you're right.
Sounds similar to questions of solipsism, personally I don't think you can answer the question definitively so operating on the idea that we function in a world with other agents that exist independently of us is what I default to.

@@CemeteryConfessions I agree that trying to find a definitive answer to something like a "death dream" would be rather difficult. The idea that the brain and mind have built in comfort mechanisms could be seen as a way to explain near death experiences, with the kinds of visions folks have. Though those tend to be more in favour of acknowledging ones death, rather than giving the illusion of remaining alive.
The thought and goal of being kind to others, whether they be part of an illusion or real, is of benefit either way. Kindness helps us as well as those whom it is given to.
