Billy & Dom Talk to Lazy Game Reviews!

- čas přidán 1. 07. 2024
- Billy & Dom talk about how to troll your friends while watching LOTR, the various Canadian provinces, the new Elder Scrolls/Skyrim co-op mode, and then have Lazy Game Reviews' Clint Basinger on to talk about his passion for all things vintage games and computers.
Clint Basinger is the guy behind Lazy Game Reviews, a CZcams show that began in 2009 dedicated to revisiting retro technology and the history of computing. If it has a microprocessor, a keyboard, and comes in beige or woodgrain, chances are it'll be "an LGR Thing" at some point.

Thanks again for having me on, guys!
Shame about the pimento cheese incident but I applaud the effort 😄
You were an awesome guest to listen to! The pimento cheese fiasco has me cry-laughing 😂
You were great Clint, and the pimento cheese was hilarious
My two favorite worlds colliding.
Best part!
This was laugh out loud hilarious at how they ribbed our American southern cheese spreads. It was extra special because your chef served the pimento cheese spread in a vintage tupperware container!
LGR and Onion a collab I never saw coming. What a treat!
Celsius ARE Centigrade are the same thing essentially the difference explained below was simply an inversion of the scale.
Centigrade is the old-fashioned name for Celsius. The name Centigrade was derived from Latin originally meaning a hundred degrees. When Anders Celsius created his original scale in 1742 he inexplicably chose 0° for the boiling point and 100° for the freezing point.
A little over one year later Frenchman Jean Pierre Cristin proposed an inverted version of the scale (freezing point 0°, boiling point 100°).
He named it Centigrade. Then, in 1948, by international agreement, Cristin’s adapted scale became known as Celsius to honor the Swedish Scientist, who first invented this temperature scale.
Fahrenheit used mostly in the US was invented by German scientist Gabriel Fahrenheit in 1724.
And to answer Billy's question in Fahrenheit water freezes at 32°F and Boils at 212°F as opposed to 0°C and 100°C respectively on the Celsius scale.
I love Clint just pulling an Intellivision practically out of his pocket.
Dom looking at the food stuck to the side of Billy's mouth and not being able to find a napkin to wipe it off is totally reminiscent of Merry and Pippin's relationship. You guys are so freaking cute!
When they said Boston was in New York, you could hear the collective heads explode in both cities!
easiest way to annoy a LotR fan is starting at the point when you see Gandalf get rescued from Orthanc, just endlessly ask "so why don't they just fly the Eagles to Mt. Doom?"
The moment I noticed the food on Billy’s face I watched Dom very closely because I knew his reaction would be golden. The subtle shaking of the head made me laugh. Another great one boys! So grateful for the joy this podcast brings!
WORLD COLLIDE. Some of my favourite hobbits talking to one of my favourite youtubers. That's a thousand on all the heat scales.
LGR is the man! Very cool episode
LGR + Billy & Dom = LEGENDARY COLLAB!!! 😎🥳 10/10
So boys, hopefully, this comment clears your doubts with respect to Celsius and Fahrenheit. First of all, centigrade is just the older name for celsius. Both of those are the same thing. Water freezes and boils at 0 degrees and 100 degrees Celsius respectively. Apart from the US, the rest of the world uses Celsius. 0 degrees Celsius is equal to 32 Fahrenheit. The formula for the relationship between Celcius and Fahrenheit is C/5 = (F-32)/9, where C is Celsius and F is Fahrenheit. For example, 40 degrees celsius = {(40/5)*9}+32 = 104 Fahrenheit. In the UK, the average temperature is in the lower 20s, or less(Celsius). That's why it's unbearable at 40 degrees. It all depends on what the normal average temperature is, at a place. For example, in a place like India, 40 degrees is manageable as it is close to average in a lot of places. It's still hot, but it's not unbearable. But if the temperature reduces to 2-3 degrees celsius, it will become unbearable as the bodies of people there are not naturally conditioned to withstand that kind of temperature. In the same way, in the UK, which is way north, 40 degrees celsius is too much of a deviation from normal for people's bodies to deal with. That's why it's roasting over there now.
If you still have more doubts, I would be happy to come on the show and talk about it😅😄. Anyway, Love you guys. Keep going. Lots of love from India.
❤
Daniel Fahrenheit was born in Gdansk (Poland), then it was the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. It is the same city where World War II began. In 2016, DJ Elijah Wood visited us for his show! IT was amazing!
LGR is awesome! Didn’t expect this.
We have to get Billy and Dom in VR. Please do a VR demonstration on the show and film the reactions.
Thanks, Dominic! Thanks, Billy! Thanks, Clint! 🧅
25:30 for the LGR stuff.
Each segment of this episode was hilarious. Poor Clint having to listen to them in disgust over his snack.
The Dragon! Not only is it completely random that LGR is being interviewed on this podcast (the crossover I didn’t know I needed), they also proceed to start talking about the computer manufactured on an industrial estate only 3 or 4 minutes from my mum and dad’s house.
I love the way Dom said “our fantastic secret special guest” and the house keeping song makes me laugh every week!
Dude LGR and Friendship Onion? Amazing!!!
I had no idea LGR was on this. SO COOL! What a great and unexpected collab. Clint I know you won't see this, but pimento cheese is a big deal here in Oklahoma too. Just part of growing up in the south!
Sure didn't see this coming but couldn't be more excited, Clint is incredible.
I don't know why I find it so exciting listening to Billy and Dom talking about League of legends 😂 I mean as a player AND a LOTR fan it's like everytime they mention it, it's christmas in my head and I imagine them and the fellowship just playing game after games of LoL haha
(You really should start a Twitch channel haha)
LGR! Awesome! Finnish sauna is sometimes 100-120°C so you don't immediately die in that temperature :D Celsius and Centigrade is the same thing with different names.
As massive TFO, LOTR, and videogame fanatics - we can't wait to tune into this one!
Oh my God. This is what I've been needing my whole life...
DUDE! I never saw this coming. Two of my favorite channels collaborating. this is AMAZING. i haven't even watched this yet and I'm already excited.
I am a big podcast watcher/listener. The ones I watch are fairly casual though, as I have been following whomever for years. I’ve commented this before, but it’s extremely refreshing to see such professional entertainment, presence, and commitment from the both of you. Thank you for the time, energy and effort you put in!
The Dragon Computer is alive and well with people still making games and hardware for it (along with its North American counterpart, the Tandy Colour Computer). There are even online emulators to run all the old programs available on your modern system, for that nostalgic hit without having to track down the old system! There is even a weekly talk show about the Dragon/Colour Computer called CoCoTALK! every Saturday on CZcams/Twitch.
I was laughing so hard I cried from 105:00 onwards. 😂😂 loving the side cameras as well 👍
So much fun, that was maybe the funniest episode ever -- not sure why but I was in stitches! Such a delight every week, appreciate you guys!!
Aaah "Complacency Land", I like to visit for a little when I'm tired. Gets boring to live there though 😉😊
Yaaay Boston in T-2.5 wks! Not a bad Boston accent there Dom, haha. I hope that you guys have a great time, it's my favorite city 💙 So so excited for the live show and to meet all the hobbits in person! 🤩
All right, John... where's the address? I don't see it in the show notes... not to worry, I still love the show!!
Marvellous, as usual. Lots of video game memories. Thanks.
I'm absolutely thrilled to enjoy yet another fine podcast from my favorite hobbits!
Thank you, guys❣️
Loved this episode so much ❤️❣️
I often wonder what it was like when Billy and Dom first met, interesting introduction I'm sure
Genuinely crack every time Billy looks at the camera when dom makes a dirty remark or tears into him
I love listening to your podcast every week. Definitely made Tuesday a day to look forward to, for once!
This could even be for the theatrical versions of the films, but every time a plot point happens, like say crossing the Ford of Bruinen, tell your partner “But that’s not how it happened in the book!”
As a Canadian, I loved hearing you both try to learn and guess how Canada is split up. The territories are in the north (Yukon, NorthWest Territories, and Nunavut).
Love you guys! Just ordered my Friendship Onion shirt
Great interview guys! Because as we all know LGR stands for Lord of Gold Rings ✨
That was an extra chaotic league segment intro 🤣👏🏼
This is the crossover we needed.
Loving the adventures of young gamer Billy
so fun and unexpected a collab!
Cheddar Gorge is south of Bristol, Dom! Come on man
YASS!! I have been watching you guys on your new set, and I JUST NOTICED the custom Funko Pops I made for you on the shelf behind you! 🥰
You have no idea how that makes me feel. Thank you. I am glad they made it and are liked. Love the podcast, you both are such a delight and what this world needs. Refreshing, fun and entertaining to watch!
Keep up your awesome!!
That's really sweet. Nice to hear that you've noticed them appreciating you. Little heartwarmer for the day.
Also, props to LGR for playing the BFME games!!
Sometimes I feel like they were just a dream and didn't exist since so few other people have played them.
It's sad because it had tech before it's time. Weren't afraid to try fixed locations. The animations were so good that the game still looks very nice today. The game had an excellent counter-unit system. Great leveling system making it important not to waste units. Heroes well balanced early on and only a problem once they became too high level and got all their skills.
For me it's above the C&C series. Not better than WC or AOE but the best that EA made in that genre.
Or as I call them "buhfmuh"
Clint's videos are great.
Never saw this collab happening either, it's great. been watching LGR for years and used to think he did the Duke Nukem Forever voice for duke for the game.
Not that anyone cares but I was born 75, started with a Dragon 32, then ZX spectrum, then Atari stFM, Atari falcon, PC to now
The LOTR the battle for middle earth strategy games on PC were fantastic and really transported you into the movies worlds
EDIT: typed the above before i heard the whole video, and Billy mentioning he had a Dragon 32. If he wants he can have mine! Im based near London, UK / Chatham in Kent.
I think Billy was thinking about Jetpac not lunar lander (unless they are the same thing)
This is the only podcast that gets me to laugh out loud every damn show. I love it!
Also, Boston is in Massachusetts 🤣
I've got a spicy cheese redemption for you, we call it: Crack Dip. I'll send John an email with the recipe. Great episode guys 😁
I would say he would win a place in a Duke Nukem guy voice competition if there was one. Sadly the original Duke Nukem guy did not know about his channel, did not have much opinion, but if I remember it correctly, said it was quite good.
A Saskatchewan shout-out!😄 ... kinda.😅
Thank you always boys!!
“Holding onto each others joy sticks” 😂 I love you guys ❤ Enjoy Toronto, please sometime come visit Ottawa, capital of Canada and only a few hours away from Toronto (our fan expo is in September 😅)
Loved it, thanks sirs
Say... "Why don't they just hitch a ride with those Eagles to Mount Doom?"
Celcius is the same as centigrade, water freezes at 0 and boils at 100, that's why it's also called centigrade, which come centi (100) and grade (degrees), or scale of the hundred degrees ( it goes higher and and lower, but the reference is water)
Farenheit is another thing entirely, but it's also s quite good book.
In Texas and Arkansas we make Pimento Cheese with Mayonnaise. I grew up with it just cold on bread as a sandwich but now I sometimes put it on an open faced sandwich and stuck it under the broiler to melt.
I’m German, and I’ve never heard the word “centigrade”… we use Celsius here 😂
Also yay for LGR! I miss his sims videos..
Geht mir genauso, ich bin auch aus Deutschland und sag immer Celsius😂
Brings back fond memories of my Commodore 64. Mom would hand-type programs onto cassettes so we could play some games. We also got a lot of generic knock-offs like Snack-man.
Being from NC I can assure you that if the pimento cheese is bad then the preparaer is clueless.
Love this! Please invite Techmoan and Technology Connections
This one summed up my early days of computing with friends with Spectrum's and a Dragon 64! And Billy's misspent youth playing Dargons Lair matched mine, except I'm sure it was the most expensive machine in the arcade and was 50p a go! The only game i knew that you can lose all 3 go's on the first screen and you can guess where most of my pocket money went to get to the end of the game! Good times! Awesome podcast guys! although you can keep the tobacco enemas to yourselves! 😝
Where I live in Maine the winter temp can get around -20f sometimes.
I'm gonna have to watch this
Guys, it's -40 degrees. -40 Celsius and -40 Fahrenheit are the same.
Nice!
Battle for Middle Earth are my favourite games ever
Treebeard never comes into contact with the ring and i dont think its ever mentioned that he ever hears about frodos quest and possibly doesnt know anything about the rings existence so i doubt he wanted the ring
A boquerón? You mean a sardine, Dom? 😄
When I hear non Canadian's discuss their knowledge of Canada, I usually have the "am I a joke to you?" meme pop into my head. I'm biased, but I'd like to think Canada is kind of neat.
The person from the US has always found it kind of neat
My logic with Fahrenheit and Celsius is that Fahrenheit is a percentage of our feeling of hot and Celsius is a water scale. Forty degrees Fahrenheit is 40% of how we feel hot. With that in mind, 4.5°C, is 4.5% of boiling temperature. Obviously it’s different for everyone, but that’s my scale.
idk how this guy is casually sitting there, id' be dying laughing the whole time when billy and dom are waffling on
I was listening to a Sherlock Holmes podcast where they played a trailer for the new book "Moriarty: The Devil's Game" and as soon as I heard Dom's voice come in I got excited, and then I heard Billy's voice and got all creamy! Is there any chance you guys could talk about that for a moment? Did you two come as a package deal or was it by some incredible chance? The premise is really interesting, can't wait to hear it all! Love the show!
- Derek
You could say "Whens the Lord coming on with the rings?"
When I was younger (early 80s) my brother had this computer type game that only played; squashed, tennis, football. It was really basic (white lines and Beebs). I cannot remember what ot was called.
Atari?
@@LindaC616 I know it was orange and black. I will have to look it up.
@@victoriaparker2705 I said that before I watched that part.
Bill and I are more or less the same age group. We finally talked my mom into an Atari console (which was the second out of 2 possibilities at the time). I never had a handheld, but seem to remember GameBoy, Atari and maybe Sega being the names.
Water boils at 212* F and freezes at 32*F. Celsius is 100*C for boiling and 0*C freezing.
What up fellas! Stay cool over there!
Very cool retro episode!! You two should play lord of the rings online! I promise, both of your movie characters are represented 😂
All my favorite things are colliding into one video ome
About the Farhenheit vs Celsius temperatures: -40 is the one that is the same in both scales. -40 C = -40 F
Uh, Dom? Cheddar Gorge is in the South West of England… I live fairly close by! 😂
Too right! What the heck Dom? Classic Northerners tryin to steal our proud Southern cheese!
@@candyak9985 But we still love this particular one, lol! 😂
Cheddar Gorge isn’t in the North of England. It’s in the South West.
Listening from Montréal city ! There a province named Québec but also a city by the same name haha
Dragon 32 are selling for between £50 and £350 on ebay at the moment
Curious to find out how this happened! 😮
celcius and ferenheit meet at -40. 0c is 32f and add 1.8 for each c. so 1c is 33.8f and so on
56:34 Dom: "...You want to go play fortnite, don't you?"
Billy: "Rather than sit and talk to Uncle Dom." THIS IS MY FAVORITE MOMENT IN THIS EPISODE!!! 🥺🥰 That was so cuteee. Jack, you go and talk with your Uncle Dom!!! 😁😄
This is definitely one of my favorite episodes, there are so many great moments that made me laugh that it would take forever to list them all 😂 Clint was a fun guest though and I loved seeing how excited Billy got talking to him 🥰
I enjoyed this podcast very much and I only know packman and centipede
You guys were just in Calgary which is in Alberta
I love you guys and it's so fun to hear you try to guess the provinces and territories of Canada for a change! You guys are actually going to be in the province of Ontario soon because that's where Toronto is. Fun Fact: Toronto is on the Eastern side of Canada above the state of New York 😄
That made me laugh, "further west." "Toronto?"
😄
Celsius is 0.01 higher than centigrade -- they're basically the same when you're measuring the weather. Fahrenheit and Celsius are the same value at -40. Hope this somewhat helps!
Celsius and centigrade are the same thing :-).
40C would be 104F, also known as way too fucking hot. I was down in Leeds during the heatwave and it was 39C then, fucking bonkers for the north of England!
41 in Spain once, and that was only 1pm. Lord knows what it went up to by 3 or 4 pm!
Best thing to say to piss off fans of tlotr (myself included) while watching the films is: How did Peter Jackson come up with this story
To this day, the BFME games are my favorite of all time.
If you haven't played the Age of the Ring mod, you don't know what you're missing.
Boston in the capital of Massachusetts! (Think, Boston tea party)
Ok you guys confused me! with all these degrees! XD
16:40 Dom was definitely annoyed about something more personal and emotional there👀
Hey guys Dr Karl from Australia is a wealth of knowledge with everything and a great personality. You should get him on to answer those science questions!
