I remember reading somewhere that Todd Edwards (Who provides the vocals for this song) has said there are probably about 75 samples all together in Face to Face...
holy shit wow amazing
Jesus! I mean, I know the song is amazing, but still!
Not 75, they compiled that amount of samples, but they only used 21 actually.
@@Ayala2004 yeah but there are still some that haven’t been identified
And people are still discovering what they are all these years later
Co-produced by my friend Todd Edwards. Todd Edwards’ style is to create musical collages out of hundreds of samples. His music is iconic and no wonder he is nicknamed Todd The God. Daft Punk were on point asking him to collab twice (again on Fragment of Time). The sampling here (and on the chorus of FOT) are all Todd. Plus he wrote and sang the vocals on both. He’s a legend!
This song hits even harder with three heads bopping in sync as the visual
Goddamn I love sample culture so much. What an amazing sound when masterfully applied.
Genuinely one of the most hopeful songs I've ever listened to, and the music video adds so much more to it
love Todd's sampling technique. If i remember right, it's said he developed that micro-sampling technique due to gear limitations at the beginning of his career (could only do very small snippets of samples). Who knew that would pave the way to create & innovate his unique style (which later pioneered the sound that is now known as Garage/UK Garage). A truer definition of Pioneer is hard to come by, and coupled with Daft Punk is a deadly combo!
That production is not god level , its daft punk level and daft punk level is greater than any god level
love the groove of this song
...just wait for the last track "Too Long".... that will be your new fave of this album
Face to face has always been my favorite song by them 😍 Also no joke I had to go back here and type this because I was just in the middle of typing "The beat is just too infectious" only for you to say it about 3 seconds later LOLL. I think the chopped up sounds had my little kid brain going crazy, and then when I discovered (pun very much intended) all of the samples, it blew my mind and just solidified it for me. Then of course Todd Edwards really pulls it all together as a bona fide bop 🤌 That movie became such a huge part of my childhood, and YES -- the feeling of relief it gives is so warm and incredible. Masterpiece collab💎
You should definitely check out the samples daft punk used for their songs
The finale next week! After the song "Too Long" Next week. Each one of you should say what was your fav song and moment from the musical anime. :)
All I see where hearing this song is it is in the future and Vesendic (Mick Jagger) is saying “Mr. Furlong?”
“You are Mr. Furlong”
R.I.P. LEIJI MATSUMOTO FEB/2023... GREETINGS FROM VENEZUELA
the hype for Too Long is real,,,
also, this came out on my birthday, so yaay!!
All ways a Daft Punk fan....
Electric Light Orchestra - "Evil Woman" would be logical after this. :)
Hell yea if they haven’t already ELA has so many classics.
There’s 2 ELA samples in this track I believe.
@@seppuku- Yes, the intro which is repeated within the song is based on the sampled sound from "Evil Woman", the riff right after the chorus, words..."the Evil Woman..."
Crescendolls were probably named after Dresden Dolls the musicians from Boston.
m83 - midnight city? this channel is perfect to Daft and m83 music!
95% of this song is samples including the flute. There are only 4 samples left to find
Update: only one more sample to find
Update: all samples were successfully found
Sick song
I love how humanity bands together to help these abused aliens.
Guys, i love this one
Try some Madball “Doc Martin Stomp” is a good place to start. 🔥🔥
Alright 👍👍👍
The album tells a story through anime
ALL SAMPLES HAVE BEEN FOUND!!!!!!
Seriously, this should go to Freejack. Someone make a video and sync Mick’s massive lips to the song.
I think they misinterpreted the “Christopher ro..” sample for “face to face”
Yea but it really sounds like "face to face" I think that was the intention
@@titicaca. oh I never really felt the resemblance until they mentioned it
I heard it like "Mr.Fermob" for me.
Was going to comment this lol, I actually used to think the same thing before I saw one of the sample vids for the first time
When are we getting more dp? :(
Aiming for summertime
They are not my favorite. I was open to it and watched through this journey. Enjoyed the videos (story). But I really like this song!
Like the message...
Pretty sure it's pronounced "very-dis co" or very disco...since, you know ...."Dis-co-ver-y"...
Fellas! Bruce Springsteen and Jakob Dylan (The Wallflowers) live at the MTV Awards in 1997: czcams.com/video/xY3q69KWqb4/video.html. The Boss shreds and duets with Jakob. It's a banger. Peace out.
Check out L’amour Toujours by Gigi D’Agostino (1999) not (2001)

I don't like any of it. Sounds like video game music which I mute when i'm playing the game.Retro Crap.I.M.H.O.
"Be like water my friend"
how sad is your life that you have to mute a videogame music? some videogames music are like orchestras wtf
This sounds nothing like video game music (also, define "video game music"). Every tastes exit in this world. Even the shittiest one. Kudos to you to be admitting that publically.
What amazing video games have you been listening to? Or rather, refusing to listen to?
What are you doing here Rick Beato?
