    Good vid, nice to see the different tones with different gear. I have a KHDK Dark Blood and enjoy it, I think a lot of noise comes from the power source as well, if you have a very clean signal its gonna be better but if you have a lousy power supply in your house [old cables, cheap breakers etc, near conductive suffaces which can create static bounce] then you will have a more noisey pedal board in general which will manifest itself on unbuffered and buffered pedals alike.

    The 33 boost pedal is badass. A necessity for my rg8 setup right now

      Fyi the kdkh sucks balls. I’m gonna try to find a sucker to sell mine to

    I liked the Revv better it has a better bass response. The KHDK didn’t sound bad, It has more of a “doomy” sound compared to the Revv.

    G4 sounds better than g3. G3 is too compressed for my liking. A little hard to tell with an 8 string low end, but I think I like the kgdk better.

    • @PaulOuzounov
      @PaulOuzounov  Před 3 lety +1

      I found the G4 to having too large of an ass to it when it came to extended range guitars / low tunings, so strange hey?! I did really love the G3 but ended up not keeping it - which I kind of regret now :-(

      @@PaulOuzounov I just ordered the limited edition behemoth nergal LCFR pedal by khdk yesterday. I can't wait! How did you get these pedals for the video? You borrowed them?

    Great video man. I definitely am biased towards the dark blood but I do know there is a buffer in the circuitry that makes it have that curve and its actually a bit quieter than other distortions I have ever used. The G3 is definitely just like another amp channel haha. I think if someone got either one, with a boost like that, they would win either way.

      Basically how I feel at the end of the day is that they are both great for different things but the KHDK did surprise me with the 8 string, I thought it was going to be problematic but it worked very well.

    The rev sounded maybe a bit more organic, but sometimes a less organic tone sounds better in context of the mix.

    Will Revv g3 sound good with Boss katana 50? With only a noise suppressor.

    • @PaulOuzounov
      @PaulOuzounov  Před 3 lety +1

      Probably, so long as you're on a clean tone on the Katana!

    Another great demo, Paul. By the way, did I hear you playing “God of Emptiness” towards the end of the first G3 demo?

      @PaulOuzounov  Před 5 lety

      Hahaha of course.. I asked the guy who made it to make it into a sigil! I was asking if you meant signal chain. It was made by Caelan Stokkerman :-)

      @28rwags Před 5 lety

      I think it was done very well. I like it. Do you know what it means or what you had put into it?

    • @PaulOuzounov
      @PaulOuzounov  Před 5 lety

      I know exactly what it means. I had him put my name into it and to use the characters of my name as inspiration. It's the Seal of Ozz at the end of the day.

    The KHDK is very very noisy when using a power supply. I found it to be nearly unusable even with the built it noise gate, but using a 9v battery in it is dramatically different.
    Regardless, I think I might be doing something wrong. I can NOT get tones like this out of my dark blood. At best, it sounds like a mild tube amp distortion, very fuzzy. Playing on my baritone in drop B sounds like a fart, nothing like this

    Revv sounded best. What's the signal chain? Pedals to interface and then? Ampsim? Cabsim?

    How about a few chords that can actually ring out ? 20 min of palm mute chugging with distorted bass tones dosen't tell us guitar players much.
    No disrespect at all just was hoping for usable review.
    P.s. you could save a ass load of money achieving the same exact sound tone profile if you were to just buy a bass instead of a 8 string guitar.

    • @PaulOuzounov
      @PaulOuzounov  Před 4 lety

      Most of my subscribers don't rely on super heavy distorted chords that ring out, that's definitely more doom metal territory and it's not my style. As for the 8 string vs bass argument, you couldn't be more incorrect. The pickup options for an 8 string are wildly more exciting than for a bass, and basses are usually extremely unwieldy. We all have our own styles that get supplanted by different and unique pieces of gear, that is what I try to express: how I would use the equipment 😊

    I really can't stand 8 string sounds like crap
