Sir, your courage and willingness to stand up against big battery is commended! NOTE: I didn't have wires like the ones shown in this video so I tried the insulated speaker cable from my home stereo. Worked
Genius! Just spent a scary twenty minutes in my shed worrying I was going to electrocute myself, but batteries now charging again. Clever stuff. Thanks!
Hey bro I just want you to know that you saved me a bunch of money !!! I was about to buy a new set of tools because I have porter cable 18volt system with many tools and attachments . I did this trick and boom all of my batteries came back to life and are holding 16.5 _ 18.9 volts again ! Thanks so very much . I'm glad I ran across this video.
Absolutely phenomenal!! Saved me $200. Worked as advertised. Jumped for 5 min. Then put on charger n got the green charging light. Great information !!!
This technique worked perfectly for me. My charger only flashed red. Cross wired with a Dewalt battery and now both Porter Cable batteries are Back in action! Thank you!
Excellent! This procedure also worked with my Greenworks 40V battery that acted dead. Jumpered it with another Greenworks 40V. Thank you for your well done video!
I guess I left my battery out side in my shed over Winter after I had ran it dead. I just did what the video showed and now it's charging. thanks save the day
Thanks. Did what you suggested and my pack is charging up. I hooked mine up to a power supply for a very brief time and put it the charger. Green to go! Sure appreciate your taking the time to post the video. Two thumbs up.
I was about to throw two batteries away until i found this video! 30 to 45 seconds connected to a good battery and now they are both charging! Thanks you!
I can't say this often about CZcams vids, but this actually works, thanks. I received a new 20v 1.5 lithium battery from eBay a few days ago, wouldn't take a charge. Received a replacement just today, same thing. Watched your vid, hooked up the wires for literally maybe 30 seconds, hooked the battery up to the charger and bingo green light flashing, (charging).
Thanks so much was about to buy my little brother a new 3sip 11.1v 2700mAh lithium battery till I saw this. Work like a champ you just gave me a great idea with all the old batteries that people get rid of.
Thanks. In this video you suggested only using the same type of battery. I had a 20V Black & Decker battery that was used for a backpack sprayer that was accidentally left on. Voltage had dropped to 1.9v and would not charge. I did not have any spare batteries and did not have a need for another batter so I took a chance and used a 18v Makita battery and jumped it as shown and I now have both batteries in their charges and they are charging fine. Saved me $30 for a battery I didn't need.
I knew that some automotive battery maintainers had that feature and I didn't even think about that being the problem with these. I'm a diy guy at heart but when tools dont work I want them back up ASAP. So, I was minutes from ordering replacements. THANK YOU. you saved me a ton of money and made me think.
Brilliant! And awesome explanation in the video. Worked like a charm I had one of these 20V batteries that wasn't even 2 years old that wouldn't charge and now it's happily green blinking away. Hopefully it will work on my original battery that came with the drill set too!
It worked for me. Left it on bout 10 seconds. It started charging. I used what wire I had. It was too big to fit in slots so i cut a few of them off to where it would go in. Saved me money man. Thanks.
I just went out to my garage to see if I could fix two of my three Craftsman batteries that only worked for a couple of months. I’ve been doing all of my yard work with one battery, sharing it between my weed eater, blower and hedge trimmer. I cut a couple pieces of wire, followed your instructions and less than a minute later both of the dead batteries are charging!! Many thanks to you for posting this!!
Same situation with the blinking red light. I found a battery (likely never used) in a Porter Cable hard case (I must have bought duplicate combo packs throughout the years and forgot about the battery). The date on the battery was 2013. This "jumping" trick worked for me (at least after 5 seconds of getting jumped its charging now). I did get a little spark on the final wire connection from pos to pos, but I only peed myself a little. Saved me $70. Thanks!
Dude, You saved me $200 to buy a new 58V battery for my echo weed eater. The charger says the battery is no good, I metered the large battery it had about 2 volts. I connected a couple of wires from a Harbor freight power tool battery for about 60 seconds and I was off and running! Thanks !!!
Brilliant, thanks for that simple but valuable advice. My Worx battery couldn’t charge so followed this advice and connected to Dewalt battery and after being connected for a few minutes Worx battery started to charge in a charger as normally would. Saved me for buying new battery.
You saved my Porter Cable 20v's life!! Have never charged the battery and ran it til it died. Would not take a charge. Only came with one battery, so I used a Black & Decker 20v Weed eater battery to jump it with. Worked like a champ. Thank you, Thank you!!
OMG this worked!!!!!! Brand new 20v lithium battery had it for a month and started doing this. Tried this technique and worked. Thank you so much you’re amazing
Bro...... YOU ABSOLUTELY ROCK. I just picked up a brand new porter cable drill with 2 batteries and charger for 50 bucks because the store said the batteries were shot, lol. I literally jumped the new ones for a few seconds, not minutes, and they're both charging. One was blinking red fast, and the other was blinking red for over temp, I'll find out if they take a full charge or not in a little bit but damn, best video I've seen on CZcams yet.
Yep, worked on old porter cable 18v li-ion Battery like a charm. Thanks for taking the time to explain and demonstrate how and why this works. Jesus is King!
Worked like a dream on 2 60v Black and Decker batteries I brought in the house over the winter. Had to use a Craftsman Battey to jump them. Use a volt meter! Saved me $200+ Thank you!!!
Anthony, I got a Porter Cable 20v drill with two batts. I moved years ago, packed them up, forgot about them til recently. Neither battery would start to charge, I got the rapid blinking red light. Used your method in the video with a known good 18v batt. Both of the 20v are now charging. Thanks for the tech tip.
People like you are great, seriously. These days you can find just about anything on CZcams, and I think we’re all grateful for that. Thanks 🙏🏻 this worked for me.
This actually worked for me! I tried everything. Even put the battery 2 days in the freezer. Nothing worked. Tried this with a new battery. Waited 2/3 minutes. Plugged it in and it worked. It was with a black+decker battery. Thanks a lot!
That worked like a charm!!!!!!! I have an 18 v Porter Cable and one battery hasn't worked for a long time. Just ran wires like he said and spark and now its charging
It Charged!! I'd heard about doing this to kick-start a battery & I had the perfect candidate. A Porter-Cable 18 volt NiCd not used for a couple years after not charging. Showed 7 Thousandths of a volt on my Fluke dmm (0.007v)! Made some jumpers with a fuse and jumped it for 3 minutes. Put it on the charger & it charged for almost an hour. Can't wait to see how it performs. Thanks
Can’t thank you enough for this video. And the explanation was perfect as to the why. I had 5 new in the package batteries from 2019 that I just opened and every one of them was doa, and I was freaking out, cussing out the seller, who I knew was long gone. Saw the video and made a set of jumper cables and now every one of them is fully charged and ready to go.
Thank you! Fixed my expensive sprayer battery. I didn't have a second one similar so I used my 18v drill lithium battery and looks like it's working now.
Thanks for this video. I drained a battery using my Porta cable flash light and it was fairly new and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't charge any more. I did this and it works fine now.
Wow I just did the test on my battery Porter cable 18 was dead Srprise, it works like a new one. Thank you Man you just saved me at least $ 50 or $ 60. Thanks
I had WORX cordless drill and just bought a new charger and realised one of the batter was not charging. I used your method and it worked. The only difference is I had to keep my battry cannected for 15 min. I owe you a shot of Whisky.... Cheers my friend
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I took some speaker wire and did exactly as you said. It worked perfectly and in less than a minute! My battery pack was actually brand new but it has sat unused for about a year. I was using another battery pack that never seemed to need charging until the other day. I watched videos claiming the battery was dead and won't ever charge or that I needed to take it apart and modify the wires and/or replace the battery or that I need to buy a entire new battery...blah, blah, blah! Then I found your video and thought I'd give it a try. You are a genius. I love simple solutions. Yours was the best out of all of the videos. Thanks again.😊
Worked on an Einhell battery. It didn't show any recharging lights on the 'dud' battery; but after only a minute it had sufficient charge to then be charged in the original charger. Thanks for sharing this. Saved me £35/$50.
Thank you. Searched and this was the 1st video that popped up to me and it was money. Again, thank you. My battery is working again. For the record, I used a 20v B&D battery to "jump" my "bad" 20v Porter Cable battery and it worked.like a charm. 😉
Wow, did not expect this to work, but I had some free time and a totally dead battery, so what the heck. Only took about a minute to bring the dead one up to the point where it would take a charge. Thanks!
Awesome vide, thank you. I was so frustrated with my battery and drill over this condition and I had tried so many things and wallah your instruction did it in under 2 minutes. Thank you thank you
My porter cable battery died yesterday and mom was about to toss it. I googled and followed your instruction and now mom thinks im a magician! I just used cables that came with my multimeter. only took about 10 sec and voila!
Thanks!! This worked perfectly! I found an old Porter Cable battery in my garage that had never been used and would not take a charge. Now it is brand new again. You the man!
Great stuff! Ill try it tomorrow! I know the trick with the 18650 cells to connect them one "dead" with one fully loaded and keep them for fiew seconds. This can also be done in this case too. You just have to ooen the bagtery and search for cells that are "dead". Thanks.
yes they do on ebay. You can get knock off batteries for a good price, I have bought two and one died a year or two in and the other my son still uses ,also the aftermarket china ones have a led battery level on them which makes it a lot nicer then guessing if your battery will die.
Cheers - -had 2 20 V Li Worx batteries that appeared dead. Used a old 24 Volt battery for a few secs to jump them and working away - -cheers for Vid and advice

Awww man, my battery was stone cold dead, I just tried this method, it freaking worked, thanks a million man...that's just wonderful...
Genius! Just spent a scary twenty minutes in my shed worrying I was going to electrocute myself, but batteries now charging again. Clever stuff. Thanks!

Just used you trick on my dead Ridged battery, it's charging now! Thanks for sharing, you rock!
Thank you!
Worked like a charm. Haven't used the battery in over 5 years and was low at 1V. I used my fathers good battery and it worked instantly. Thanks a ton.
Ditto!!!
Very much appreciated
Excellent! This procedure also worked with my Greenworks 40V battery that acted dead. Jumpered it with another Greenworks 40V. Thank you for your well done video!

Dude this video help me out!! I almost spent about $50 to replace a damn near brand new battery and your method worked flawlessly thanks
I just did it and it worked. Super easy. 2 min. Now my battery is currently on the charger! What a simple but super helpful tidbit of knowledge!!
Mate, u deserve a large beer. I had a battery which i didn't use for a while and it entered in error. With your video i "saved" it. Thank you
I want to add my appreciation like all the other comments below. Thanks... I got my previously dead battery to charge.

Just saved two porter cable batteries by your video. Thanks a lot.
This worked to revive my Biswaye 18v Li-ion batteries. Easy and effective, thanks Anthony, you saved me from having to buy a replacement!

thanks. even after 4 years this trick still works
Super helpful. Thank you it sounds simple when you say it but I never thought of it.

I just wanted to add that you helped me out too. Thanks for sharing - (2 Porter Cable 18volt Li-ION batteries. They don't sell them anymore.
yes they do on ebay. You can get knock off batteries for a good price, I have bought two and one died a year or two in and the other my son still uses ,also the aftermarket china ones have a led battery level on them which makes it a lot nicer then guessing if your battery will die.
Just tried it. Works great. Thanks my friend for sharing.
Dude this really works. Thank you for saving me $50
