    …the producers of this telemovie tv drama did not approach any of the Peter Brock’s family, children, Heather Russell, Michelle Downes, Beverly Brock, or Julie Bamford for correct information about Peter…so all it can really be is just another local media attempt to keep the public “Peter Brock” legend alive…by parading around all his racing cars…and quoting his motor racing results…and retelling the Holden Energy Polarizer story…all of which i might add can be acquired by anyone who has bought a few Wheels car magazines over the years…

    • @doscojones6404
      @doscojones6404 Před 7 lety +3

      All the races as shown use actual Bathurst footage - except one race.
      The black and white footage was originally shot by Movietone (the rights now owned by Wazee Digital) and the 16mm colour film was shot by Les Beard (from around 1972 to 1984 (?)) for Holden.
      Channel 7 withdrew their consent to the use of their broadcast footage very late in the production's schedule, which explains why the footage that a lot of people, like myself, grew up watching, isn't in the program. Which is also why there are 2 races (1985/86) that are not Bathurst, as the only coverage belongs to Channel 7 (Channel 10 didn't get the rights till the late 1990's). the 1985/86 races were sourced from the ABC.
      If you look at any of the Channel 7 DVDs that cover Bathurst right up till 1984, you'll see bits and pieces of the footage throughout.
      The Targa West footage taken from Brocky's Daytona is also actual video of his driving.
      Footnote: all the cars used in the production were supplied by Peter Champion - look him up to check who is if you don't know already.

    I don't believe it. What an opportunity lost to portray the life of one of Australia's greats. Nothing about going to Le Mans, plenty about who he slept with though. The bit when he meets GMH management in the eighties with the pics of a 1976 HX Kingswood and LX Sunbird of the same vintage hanging on the wall in the office was priceless. It typifies the producers attitude to attention to detail and preoccupation about his sex life. It should have been given to the ABC to do, at least then it would have been done properly.

    Bad case of understeer took Brockie out eh. Damn this drive-by-wire shit, never mind self-driving. Sweden has it right; requiring 2 years on motorbike and a determined time period with what basically amounts to a golf cart before considering allowing drivers full access to all roadways, Once Upon A Time, in the Good Ole USA, every driver had to SUCCESSFULLY demonstrate an ability to negotiate a manual transmission, all before Cell Phones (a tool of the Devil really). I like to leave a lasting impression (literally) on the Texturbators I have the misfortune of encountering at stoplights. Same goes for Ockers smokng pot (medical or otherwise) in their Thug Hundreds with the limo tint. I mark, I document, I report, I read court records, I turn up when required, I have a nice Double Double at In N Out (occasionally the mid-range Fatburger patty after the gym) and watch a few heavies coming in.Then I listen to mid-80s Slayer, AND THEN: I laugh when my cockatiels start singing along
