  • Global efforts to decarbonize the energy system have primarily focused on transitioning to zero-carbon renewable energy resources. However, the urgent need to decarbonize and the slow pace of the energy transition has encouraged efforts to decarbonize current energy sources, particularly oil, which is harder to replace as a transportation fuel than is coal in the power sector. How can companies and governments effectively decarbonize oil and what impact will this have economically and environmentally?
