While watching this video I notice your hair styles. As a retired hair stylist I am telling you that the hair style you look fab in is that red with bangs is your best look. What you are wearing does not carry off you lovely features.

Whitney, I’m rather late to the game here, but sometimes life happens and you get behind in what is most important: Sewing! Which includes watching TomKat Stitchery on CZcams! You can’t imagine where my imagination took me when you gave us a little hint with a huge smile that an announcement was forthcoming! Well, this is better than anything I could come up with! It is certainly taking your Brand to the next level. I’ve learned that you are not going to have a cohesive wardrobe, bespoke or purchased from a retailer, unless you follow a few rules. These rules actually make life so, so easy for the sewist as well as the shopper. What you have done here is to put everything one needs into a concise workbook for us and for that I am truly appreciative! The newsletter is going to a wonderful feature of TomKat Stitchery to be sure! This episode was an awesome precursor to what I am sure is going to be a very successful venture! Hugs!

Thank you Whitney for your wardrobe basics document. While I’m a senior (a fall based on 80s Color Me Beautiful) and expect to be living in a RV for the next year, meaning I’ll have to pare down my wardrobe, I have learned so much from you about cohesive capsules and that will be an absolute necessity with limited storage space. But please don’t forget those of us who are not full busted. It sounds more like I’m closer to your sister, average height but still short waisted, smaller bust, and curves in my lower half.
I also have to highly recommend that you join the projector sewing world because most of the alterations you make are so simple if the pattern comes with a full bust option. Shortening patterns can be done by moving your cutting board the appropriate amount. I use the projector exclusively when sewing for my grandkids now (about 75% of my sewing) and use Dorothy’s Daughter’s hybrid method when sewing for myself. I need to lower one shoulder, lower the bust, shorten the overall bodice. I’ve just never mastered Inkscape or Designer Affinity to be able to make all those changes so generally I trace the projected image of the bodice onto medical paper and then proceed to cut and paste all the alterations, then just use the skirt as projected. I save so much time and resources and my storage needs have greatly diminished. Check out the Projectors for Sewing Facebook group
I really need to look into the projector sewing more. I'll be honest that it intimidates me a bit!
You are in my top 3 sewing video list. You give great tips for full busted women & I also look best in warm tones colors. I had my colors done years ago. It's very helpful. No more trying to look good in black or dark navy. I consider you a "sewing buddy". You inspire many.

What a coincidence! I purchased the Upton w/expansion pack the last time Cashmerette had a buy 2/get 1 pattern sale. I will be attending a wedding in early 2023 and thought this would be the perfect pattern to create a special dress for the occassion. I've subscribed to your newsletter! As you can see by my channel name, I'm an advocate of the capsule wardrobe philosophy myself and find that it's so much easier to have clothes that can be worn together so there's chance of less clothes sitting unloved and unworn in a drawer or closet, especially after taking the time and effort to make them 🙂
I just wanted to add that having watched an earlier video of yours right after this one (the one where you went on a sewing retreat weekend), your colours and style are just SO much more complimentary now! Your clothes are amazing and suit you so well 🙂

Cashmerette is my jam. It's dead easy to grade their patterns to fit my large-busted, very pear shaped body. Sewing my own clothes is really the only way I'll ever have a pair of pants actually fit properly.

I saw a Cashmerette user post pix yesterday of her daughter’s wedding. She used three versions of the upland for her daughter’s gown. Satin under gown, a organza? Overlay, and then a reception dress.

@@TomKatStitchery I recently made kids version for my daughter- she loves it sooo much she twirls while walking :) Anyway Ellie and Mac has a lot if great patterns especially for busty ladies. I just finished my 6th tress belle - 3 dresses and 3 tops (faux wrap with half circle peplum). And they recently lowered prices so more people can afford their patterns ( especially with prices of everything going up). I have a lot of their patterns and they are my go to unless I am drafting pattern myself
Enjoyed this video. I am older and sometimes wonder if sewing capsules make sense for me. I, too am a large bust woman who is thankful when I found love notions patterns. If I hadn’t watched your channel, I would not have those patterns. I would love to receive your newsletter.

I totally missed that on the pattern 😂. I made mine without stretch and made my normal size, but this is helpful!

Skirt: just picked up Butterick 6866 a 6 gore skirt. I haven't made it yet but I am replacing an old TNT
I prefer 6 gore because it allows for enough seam fitting and allows for better fabric uses
I rediscovered shorter skirts as an alternative to shorts a while back and have been trying to nail down a skirt pattern that will go from bread to cake to frosting.

Just want to say I subscribed to your newsletter! I had my colors done 40 years ago (yes I’m old) but it really was eye opening and has really helped me pick wardrobe colors. And I loved the print dress you had on in the video!
Me too! Color Me Beautiful in the early ‘80s, when I earned I was a winter. At that time I was making most of my clothes including lined skirts, pants and blazers in SUMMER colors. They all looked so-so on me. As you said, life changing!

@@Bready29645 All the Speech Language Therapists in my school district came to my house. It was a blast, and the excitement lasted for weeks as we each learned how to use and dress for our colors.

Wow, what a great, timely and exciting announcement! I have been floundering trying to come up with a capsule summer wardrobe and I can't wait to use the checklist you developed. I know it is going to be so helpful. I love watching your videos and I am sure your website is going to be as informative and helpful. Just a thought, I save a lot of your videos for reference it would be helpful to find them on your website rather than weeding through all my saved CZcams videos looking for a specific sewing technique you have taught and explained. I sewed so many lovely things for myself in 2020-21. Then I swelled up. Nothing in my closet fits & it's affecting my ability to go out & work. My weight is exactly the same & I exercise daily, but my bust & waistline goes up & down 3-4 inches on a bad day. Recently been diagnosed with an intestinal disorder & possible auto-immune problem (working on that) PLUS menopausal so I am all about getting back into making clothes with bust & waistlines being able to expand & looking forward to your checklist & fall videos very much. Great informative video here with tips on getting the basics in the wardrobe!
I feel your pain there! There is nothing more frustrating than fluctuating bust and waistlines!
