I use to volunteer at the humane society in Carlsbad, CA...its heartbreaking never enough volunteers to walk them aside from their daily care. But it's a rewarding experience if you have extra time and live by a rescue or humane society they need the help. I will again soon.I have to.😔💔🙏
Noo not the dogs that’s not right I hope they get right owners that treat them right. They should try to make access to a little outside area for the dogs to play without other dogs if they are aggressive. This breaks my heart I have 3 dogs and I can’t lie I don’t always take them on walks but we also have a very big yard for them to run and play on
5,000 pets are killed in shelters *every day* in the US. People don't spay/neuter their animals which leads to constant intake. It's not right, and people do fail these poor animals. An animal is a commitment for life, not something disposable.

They need to pass a law that all landlords must accept pets in their buildings many people can get emotional support dog just by going to see a doctor to write it and then they cannot deny you that is the law

These animal controls need to be regulated. Most of these animal controls are terrible and these innocent animals have suffered enough at the hands of heartless people. How would the staff workers feel if they were confined to a small space for a lengthy period of time. People need to do better. Authorities need to do better in punishing the perpetrators and if a dog is being abused, neglected in any way, you're should be no question in removing the animal from the owner. Whatever cost have been incurred on housing the dog and medically treating the dog because of removal, the owner should pay. It's amazing how people want to euthanize dogs and it's so many people walking the earth need to be put down. These dogs are innocent and do not deserved to be treated in this manner. People have no moral compass and evil minds and heats. People need to do better. This shelter is being exposed for the wrong thing. All the dogs there either have kennel cough or whooping cough. I adopted a bulldog in March, that was literally on death’s door. The vet (in the clip). Told me he was fine. If I didn’t get him to a vet for meds, it would of been a wrap. My neighbor got a dog from them with whooping cough a week ago. VCA is one of the main vets that’ll take their voucher, treatment is 700-1500. I’m all for having and keeping animals but we need to easier and more affordable.
There is no legal reason for the dogs not to be walked even if it's a court case. That was a shelter policy. PC597 dictates the care needs and exercise is part of it. The issues are staff hours needed and previous lawsuits. Please volunteer at a shelter to help. Please find homes for your dogs if you need to relinquish.
Kennel enrichment doesn't come anywhere close to the the benefits of the dog going for a walk. There were court case dogs in a shelter I used to volunteer at who volunteers weren't allowed to handle and now this is making me think... Did they ever get out for a walk?? Dogs deteriorate without exercise and physical touch. It's just so sad. It shouldn't be allowed.

Are you in LA ? NKLA, Best-friends in Mission Hills really try to make shelter life better for the time they’re there. I’ve also volunteered in OC for over 20 years where volunteers often took the dogs on trips to the beach and I took dogs many times home with me for a few nights.
How anyone could give up a pet to move, then dont move there. I d give up the husband before my cat and 3 dogs. 2 of my 3 dogs came from the pound, one dog you can tell was beaten for whatever, the other was trainned a lot when it comes to playing ball, wheather they ran away due to not being fix, I dont know, but whoever had abused the one dog I got, that guy should never own another dog again.. I love them so much and walk them everyday. Train them a little everyday. Yes they are better than the husband.
I feel the same way. When I rescued my pup I had everything packed and was ready to leave if my husband had dug in his heels. Only time I’ve defied him and it’s been such a journey. And then he fell in love with our sweet girl. Pets open up a whole new world of love.

It sounds like you've never volunteered, or even seen the inside of a shelter?!? In this country we still euthanize a million pets a year! This is not some little issue. Cities are sometimes overflowing with dogs and if it's a no-kill shelter there might be hundreds of dogs and one single shelter. Until you've volunteered at these centers you will never understand.

Start putting them down after three weeks if no one wants them. Crazy keeping animals in a cage for a long time. Dogs are getting over populated and cats.

Vet Tech in Florida here, every dog gets two yard sessions per day. When we're the ones winning the moral high ground you know something's wrong.
