  • I spent 4 glorious days on a solo canoe trip in Killarney over Thanksgiving weekend checking out the gorgeous Fall colours on Grace, Nellie and Murray. They were spectacular, as was the scenery everywhere I looked. Even though most of the trip was dark and dreary, the colours brightened up my journey and I had an amazing time, in awe of the white quartzite mountains which made the perfect backdrop for the reds, greens, yellows and oranges that looked almost alight, they were so brilliant. I started out with an issue at the access, then headed from Widgewa Lodge through to Grace, Nellie, Murray and back out a different way then I'd come in. The portages were very long and it was my fist time seeing Grace and Nellie and I was not disappointed. I hope you enjoy this colorful video series, filmed in a beautiful place I would love to visit more often.

      Hey Xander. Thanks for checking out my video. I was just looking at yours and commented there. Lol. I was there the 7th to the 10th. Same route, solo also. (Haha not ‘guys’ I’m a female solo tripper. Lol. I usually trip in Temagami, but was looking for a change) . I actually found out today it was Preston portageur.ca a friend I know through the outdoors community. Too funny. Congrats on your longest solo. Cheers !

    Thanks for the great video! You've been one of my inspirations among others like Joe and Jon who I'm learning a lot from as I start my own adventures out there. I'll be doing this loop in the coming summer and this video was amazingly helpful. On to part 2!

    What a gorgeous place! I paddled a sea kayak four days at Massasauga after watching your videos (and after they allowed visitors from the US) and now I have to visit Killarney.

    My condolences on your experience at W Lodge. They have a high enough rating on google etc that I would have felt confident using them before this video.

      Thank you. I had quite a rant originally filmed and I cut it from the video because you never know what people are going through? I always try to give people the benefit of the doubt. Maybe we just had combative personalities? Who knows? Maybe you’d have a different experience? I hope you enjoyed the video?

      Killarney is a magical place, unique from all the others. I absolutely love it there but it’s so hard to get a campsite and I am so elated that I got to do two trips there in the last month. You might want to set a note on your calendar to book 5 months in advance and go take a peek next year. I’m so glad you enjoyed the video and cannot wait to hear your feedback on the rest. Cheers!

    As always, great video. Making food of any type in the wild is incredible! I really enjoy cooking when out in the mountains. Looks like you had an awesome trip!

      Thank you Joe! I know you’re a new subscriber so I’ll give you a tip about my video series. Usually for binge watchers when I publish part one you can generally access the next part of the series by going to the link at the end of each video. I’m not sure if you’re one of those people? But I am, so I set it up like this for people like me. Thanks for the kind words. I hope you enjoy the rest of the series. Cheers!

      Hahaha it’s only 30 lbs. there are people that carry 80lb canoes. I actually feel like I’m cheating sometimes. (Lol you forgot the 40lb pack and the 10 lbs of food. Lol. Hope you liked the video. Cheers

    Looks like it’s going to be another great trip. Question: how do you clean your cook pot and dishes while camping?

    • @CamperChristina
      @CamperChristina  Před 2 lety

      I first use a spatula, a silicone spatula, and then wipe out anything else with a paper towel then a wet paper towel, then I rinse it with water and I put water in it until I I store it in the bear vault at night. It was indeed a great trip !

    Mmmm...that taco salad looked delicious! Hopefully by the time you hit that portage, the stuff that happened at the put in was left behind you! Let the scenery & nature sooth your soul! Was this filmed with your new iPhone? Gorgeous scenery. Hope you’re ok from your slip, I’m sure the chocolate & peanut butter helped 😋

      It was delicious and no. This was just stunning scenery and very colourful all on its own. I am currently editing the next Killarney trip I did this past weekend and the footage is incredible! I think so anyways. I will let you decide and I’m sure you’ll let me know what you think. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment. Cheers Sue! 😊
