Sits there afraid of the counters with Tyrrannax Rex in hand has "This spell can't be countered" as the literal first line of text
I cannot overstate how frustrating this was to watch
Whatdaya mean you don't know what to call it???? Mr. Olive, there is only one correct answer: (que the theme music) Battlesaurs!! BattleSaurs!!
The extinct ancestors of Battle Toads!!n
I would've went with beast wars
Seth: I will be happy when Invoke rotates.
Wizards: Good news everybody!
Even though I laughed IRL, this is quite disappointing...
Wizards: I have discovered a way to save Standard!
Seth: But Wizards, why change it?
Wizards: Cause we still haven't sold all our Double Feature boosters! Don't worry Seth, I know what I'm doing.
...what happened? Did they reprint it or something?
@@wojtektaracinski7977 There will not be a standard rotation this year apperently. They are making it so that Standard rotates every 3 years.
@@dashkataey1740 standard is rotating every 3 years now instead of 2, so invoke isn't leaving standard this September as had been expected
Meme or Dream would be my favorite series if there was just 1 more game after Seth fixes the deck at the end. I love these off meta decks and would really enjoy seeing it perform after the improvement.
Did you forget Tyrranax Rex can’t be countered? It’s like a hasty Carnage Tyrant!
You had a uncounterable Rex vs Grixis that has ward 4. Should have just casted it.
he played this deck way too safe, he shoulda just cast the dinos.
@@brandandixon3943 He's always playing way too scared of counters. In the modern Yargle video he died to a Murktide with the lethal combo sitting in his hand for 3 turns because he was too scared to cast it. Sometimes you just need to play your cards...
I know English is weird but the past tense of cast is just cast.
@@whatdothlife4660 Ahh I see. My grammar has been getting worse the longer I code for a living. 🤣🤣
To note, Zopandrel doubles the power on EACH combat. So you'd double on theirs as well and they wouldn't have been able to attack because you'd have an 8/8, 12/12, and an 8/12
"I will be happy when Invoke Despair rotates."
I see this was recorded before the weekend and all our hopes of bidding farewell any time soon to Mirror Breaker and Invoke Despair were completely obliterated.
Looks like farewell got countered
I know it's not really how meme or dream works, but after watching the deck tech I'd be very curious to see Seth play a few games with the revised version
Sometimes he does that - I would watch that also. This deck is cool.
I'd replace Vorinclex with Kogla and Yidaro. Technically it increases the curve but in actuality, it's a four-mana removal spell that replaces itself that you can get back with Invasion of Shandalar and is sometimes a dinosaur. Plus it's actually on theme (Ape *Dinosaur* Turtle Seth) while Vorinclex isn't.
This is the epitome of a Timmy deck, and I am here for it!
As a Timmy can confirm
"Kogla and Yidaro isn't a Dinosaur" Seth please you are hurting me
I was like 'wait...'
Shoulda kept one and pulled the Vorinclex for purity sake.
He said Zopandrel isn't a dinosaur, but mentioned K&Y directly after, so he got it right
Edit: nvm, He messed up 2 min later, sorry
Killing the phoenix that keeps coming back as opposed to the other 2/2 is a major misplay vs monored.
The line of thinking here might've been that you can eventually block the other 2/2, but yeah, that was a misplay. The Phoenix was always going to come back every turn.
The ratios are jank, but I think there are bones here. Ramping into Etali is a great win condition, and the battles do help you do that by either filtering draws, ramping, or in the case of Karsus wiping the board so you don't die to aggro. I think if the ratios were cleaned up this deck would be dope.
I think I would have killed the etchings creature instead of the bird against mono red since the bird keeps coming back and deals the same damage as etchings anyway.
I was wondering why he played it that way also.
Oh my god. This was literally a deck I wanted to make. I wanted to just jam all the Ixalan cards together into a Standard deck for a flavor win and try to make it cohesive. Plus some added battles, because battles are really fun. But, uh, this works too. Hell yeah. Dinos & battles for life!
I remember playing that sunbird’s invocation + approach of the second sun deck, but I had the sideboard juke of naya dinosaurs
The Yidaro half of Kogla and Yidaro when Seth says it isn't a dino: Am I a joke to you?
You probably should have killed the kumano rather than the phoenix. The phoenix comes back for free, kumano does not
Gotta say I appreciate the stinger where you try to make the deck into something more viable while sticking to the theme
I usually don't assume my opponent is slow rolling, arena makes you cast spells to get things. If he had "cast 20 red or black spells" harvester counts as one of each.
You know, for as much as I love this game for what it is. I constantly forget the love to the sense of humor that you have to have in order to play crazy ass homebrews like this 😂😂😂 I love Seth's sense of humor throughout the entire video when playing this deck😅😅😅
that Omen Hawker deck was spicy, though.
maybe something like that is worth trying once Aftermath and Training Grounds is in the Standard.
Wouldn't you (in theory) use Curse of Shaken faith against any deck with Ledger Shredder? Not saying it's worth it, but that feels like an obvious counter play
Meme or Dream has always been my favorite Goldfish series. I miss when you did it with MTGO dumps too and tried to figure out if a jank pile really 5-0ed a league or was just people abusing the off-hours matchmaking.
Less of a mana curve, more a staircase
Would love to see you fix the deck mid-video and play with it for the second half, rather than at the end
"gosh, opponent's aggro"
*keeps unplayable mana base opening hand*
oh my gooooood Seth! Seth!
The largest issue with Gruul is Vindicator and Obliterator being in the current standard. This is why my current variation of a deck similar to this splashes black for Tear Asunder. Also needs to run that 5/5 immune to non-Green Creature in standard right now.
I would love to see you workshop this deck a bit, update it, and try it again.
I will be shocked if this manages to win even one game. Lets go!
Seth keeps the greediest hands ever. Just mulligan dude
So that's what the blue deck was.
It seems very good, omenhawker's mana gives a lot of ramp.
It'd be awesome to watch a couple matches with the original deck then a couple with the new version to see how it plays out!
If I had to guess the reason for the Chandra is to copy some big Green Sun Twilights and go bananas with it
The deck doesnt seem that bad though, besides the mana base theres a lot of hastey threats that will just flip your battles the moment you cast them, especially Tyrranex Rex, Invoke despair is a problem though and I dont get the City on fire unless the idea is to flip into it with Etali and burn someone to pieces with your removal package maybe?
It would be cool to see this deck remade to be an actual functioning pile of cards, it seems really fun.
at 27:10 seth asked where was the standar scavenging ooze. There Literally IS the white equipment that does that effect. LION SASH!!!!
The invasion of zendikar/basic land ratio is a little off in this build. Also deeproot wayfinder (although not a dino) might be a nice add
this deck play really good around the shuffler algo.
Fetch lands at cheap cost is a key part of that, dont cut bushwahck.
You made a video of the deck. Love it. 🤣
"I'll be glad when Invoke Despair rotates."
Steph, before WotC extended Standard rotation by a year
27:00. I don't understand killing the Phoenix here when the Kumano doesn't come back. Kill it first then kill the Phoenix later and you save some damage over time.
I think the one mana green protection spell could find a place in the sideboard to protect Etali and you could try to win with toxic as a backup plan.
If your playing battle dinos, you have to play ramparaptor, the hastey trample hit face and battle at same time creature
I appreciate Seth making the deck more functional while still keeping the theme
This is a deck where after playing with it, you can tell how to rebuild it to be more optimized. More stompers for sure, more zendikar, more bushwhackers
Seth: makes a meme deck
Also seth: loses to an even bigger ninjutsu bankbuster meme deck
55:03 Kogla and Yidaro is absolutely a Dinosaur though lol (Yidaro is a dino turtle).
Seth's improvements are perfect. No notes.
55:02 Kogla and Yidaro is a dinosaur (and an ape, and a beast, and...)
Thanks for the upload. 🦖 🦕 Brought me back to magic! Lol
Would love it if you played a match with your changes!
So happy to see Meme or Dream back!
Just noticed the shirt! My daughter (age 4) was just singing Small Stone to her little brother (age 7 months). She calls him Amibo ba Debbel.
Completely unrelated, I was wondering if we were going to see any more Invasion of Segovia decks from you in this standard. I feel like there are some sweet possibilities with Awaken the Woods and Nissa, Ascended Animist.
"I hope they dont see the line" ... Hovers over "the line" 😂
Also it would be cool to see an Infect rebuild of the deck, leaning on hasty Toxic dinos and maybe a pinch of Chandra or Etali at the top end.
This deck is almost certainly someone's "just cards I have in my collection" tribal.
Deck names? Fossil Fighters. Dinosaur King. Ixalan Pokémon.
Add Rampaging Raptor!!! Then bring it back as an Against the Odds!!
I could see swords not being the worst here because you're taking 3 off anyway unless you find the one of topiary with the right mana, seems like every game you get one turn to play stuff when they tap out and protecting something could be worth that card
I actually really liked the second deck that you played against
I would love to see an Against the Odds follow up to this in the future
"I will be happy when invoke despair rotates"
Ah...happy days...
Funnily enough, Curse of Shaken Faith would work as an answer to the enchantment in invoke. Not a great choice, but still.
Etali is too good. He's been showing up in commander a bunch in my group.
It's like a Timmy bulk bin deck with three etalis thrown in
Deck: I like battles and dinosaurs
Invasion of Ixalan: I am a battle and a dinosaur.
Deck: get out of here before you potentially fix my mana curve!
in my experience the absolute best battle has been the rg draw discard treasure one
God damn I'm ready for the next rotation. No more bank buster + mirror breaker in every deck.
This is the greatest video you have ever made
in that second game against mono red, what was the thought process behind repeatedly opting to kill the phoenix instead of the etching when the phoenix can easily keep returning? Like, kill the etching and then remove the phoenix on the next combat and you save 2 (or possibly 4 I lost track) life and probably win
Possibly the greatest sin of this video is how the deck mostly lost to Seth keeping bad hands or not reading his cards.
I think this deck is a lot closer to a dream than Seth thinks.
That first game was so awesome
ironically, Shaken Faith is great against Etali since they're casting multiple spells
I kinda wish we got to see the revamped deck play
Curse of shaken faith is for storm, not sure how much of that is in standard though lol
Somebody needs to get Seth to play a deck with Invasion of Karsus and Hydroid Krasis just so we can watch Seth struggle...
Kogla and Yidaro is a dinosaur! 59:05
"maybe we cant play the Kogla and Yidaro, the cards super cool but its not a dinosaur"
yidaro: "am i a joke to you?"
i copied one from that page that was like 22 planeswalkers and just 1 creature. (the 1/3 green that you can pay 1G to return to hand and get a land). i've played a few and it works ok :)
Hey.
Seth.
Your Vault is ready to open.
Kogla and Yidaro is a dino
Top-e-airy. Never change Seth
would love to see some games after you "fix" the deck in this series
hey Seth! I was actually trying to build a list like this for pioneer, is there a chance you play a list in explorer/pioneer
Meme or dream is my favorite series
I was about to say how much I loved a deck with 0 playsets, but then we have a 4x all in the board?!
Yo, I totally played a game against you the other day. It was a best of 3 unranked. You were playing this deck and I was playing an Urabrask’s Forge deck with Mondrak. I almost beat you in round 3 but I started getting whooped so I scooped. lol. Good times man.
I’m sad to not see the questing raptor in this list.
No Rampaging Raptor for a Dinosaur tribal battle deck?!
honestly at this point I have three(look Seth editor is going to be happy)* theory about those deck
1. they make bet in the office about wich of there Jank you are going to play next
2. It the result of there future league
3. some one got dump the task of making those deck and honestly. He probaly has better to do and nobody care as long as there are some new deck up.
*I wrote three not 3
Still hoping to see an against the odd mono mountain gruul or rakdos
Can you play the most competitive version of this deck on your stream or yt pretty please :)
After this deck i am 100% convinced wizards of the coast is telling us we are playing magic wrong.
26:17 Your opponent has two creatures on board. Both have 2 power. One of these can very easily come back from the graveyard. The other cannot. You have no way to exile the creature, alive or dead. Why on earth would you kill the recursive creature just so it can come back?
Mr Olives voice is somewhat unnerving for me but love the gameplay
The treasure is always in the sideboard
Curse of Shaken Faith looks like a sideboard card to fuck up Storm to my novice eyes.
Seth you constantly complain about the curve but when you have the option to bring in ramp and cut 7 drops, every time you just got rid of more cheap cards 🤣🤣🤣
This is the kind of deck that requires a lot of practice to properly pilot.
I'm offended by how often you kept hands without ramp or with little lands. Mulligan more agqressively for something to play and ramp. You want to wish to topdeck for a bomb, not a land
If it has a sideboard, is it really meme or dream?
