Thank you for this informative video! I'm planning on attending Sophia University in spring 2024 but am having difficulty choosing what dorm to go with. This dorm is appealing since the price is affordable, are there any cons do the dorm? How do you feel about the LGL system, and do you have difficulty with getting transportation if you stay late in the city (Tokyo)? sorry for all the questions.

Thank you so much for the question! I am always down to help you choose the best choice to make your stay here worthwhile. I will be completely honest with u about how I feel living here. The price is indeed very affordable and the neighborhood this dorm is located in is very safe and clean (one of the richest areas in Tokyo). Also, it has the largest number of Sophia students living here so you will have a great time connecting with different people worldwide. The con that I see here is that there are many mandatory events you will need to attend every month and rules to follow. Also, if you have first-period classes, you must leave the dorm at 7:30 a.m. It's also a 20 min walk to the station so you will need to pay 220 yen (one way) every day or walk. Even ur hanging out late at night, there are lots of trains running in the city so I don't think there's an issue with coming home late. As to the LGL system, I'd say it's okay. They frequently organize fun events, inform important notices, and help you with dorm issues that may arise during your stay. They are helpful but can be disorganized from time to time. Overall tho, they are helpful when you need help with anything.

sorry, forgot to mention that 220 yen is for the bus! If you are thinking of hanging out in Shinjuku, it's a one-way train ride to the station. For Shibuya, one transfer needed.

@@peeklifechannel oh okay thank you for transparency! Are there any dorms you recommend besides this one for convenience wise/ affordability? Or have heard good things about? I have listed my dorms as
      1. Soshigaya
      2. Edagawa (Men’s dormitory)
      3. Social Residence Higashi
      4. DK house Tokyo
      5. DK house shinkoiwa
      (Subject to change)

Also do you find yourself often eating out or cooking within the dorm? I noticed I would have to buy my own rice cooker, pots, and pans if I want to cook within the dorm. The mandatory events kinda through me off but it does sound like a nice way to meet new people and see their cultural events.

Except for Soshigaya and Edagawa, it’s not college own (correct me if I’m wrong) so I’m not sure how well their management is. The pro of Sophia dorms is that, you can report/consult with the college student office if there’s any issues with the dorm. I come across lots of adds on CZcams about the DK house and thought that it’s nice and spacious but can’t tell if they have enough members in charge of the dorm and security officers. 😅
