The majority of the problem wasn't the officers on the ground, it was the structure of the police forces and the people in charge. The communication was garbage.
I have said it many times, the institution of policing as it exists today is broken and needs immediate repair. Start with the hiring process.

Let's hear your criticisms of a dependency on tactical responses to active shooting situations when your own child is in that school or your own partner is in that office. @@craigfinnegan8534 the only reason the police didn't act is they were too scared of the guns the perpetrator had. Compare that response to what happens in Australia if someone pulls a gun, or other weapon cause they can't get their hands on a gun.
Go look at the video of "shots fired at Prince Charles" sure, it's old, but it still shows clearly what happens when someone welds a gun in a country with gun controls! Go look at the Sydney Siege, where one hostage was shot by the perpetrator & the rest of the injuries & deaths came from the police, cause the police nearest to the siege heard a shot from inside & so rushed the door without thinking or waiting for any orders or "do not act" demands from their superiors!
If anyone DARES attempt to use a gun in Australia, there's a universal mobbing of that person by everyone around them! Look at the later murderer in the Sydney cafe, where the customers used cafe chairs and a milk crate to subdue that perpetrator with a knife!
How long since Sandy Hook? That's when your legislation SHOULD have kicked in! That's PLENTY of time between then & now for the appropriate legislation ot have had the desired impact & massively reduced guns & particularly guns of the nature that scared the Texas police & stopped them acting!
No rational person can honestly argue anything other than decent gun controls being the ultimate answer to America's mass shooting problem! It simply does not happen in any other country! "Active shooter drills" are NOT a thing in any other country! Parents do NOT fear their child will not come home because they were shot at school in any other country! It is an American ONLY problem, cause of American gun legislation! The solution is to change that & do the same as the rest of the world does to SUCCESSFULLY stop mass shootings (or other massacres)

Time to throw out the corrupt. Abbott and DeSantis of Florida are one of the same. They hide their corruption. They are criminals. They don’t look out for the people of their states. Vote Beto O’Rourke and Hobbs!! VoteBlue Texas!

What's crazy is that one of the other female officers who also made a horrible mistake was fired almost immediately it was known she was still employed and in my opinion didn't mess up as bad as this male officer. She was broadcasted all over the news but yet this officer has barely made headlines, messed up WAY worse, and is also still employed. Why isn't he being shamed and fired as the other officer???

Sadly it won't happen. Parents protested outside the UCISD for days begging for accountability. The UCISD begrudgingly suspended about 7 officers with pay, but just reassigned to them to another dept. So those coward cops are still cops.
Nothing will happen. The Uvalde PD even had the nerve to ask for MORE funding. They already took forty percent of the town's budget and failed at their job, and they want a raise????
And with a big Back the Blue governor like Abbott this will be covered up and the cops rewarded with a budget increase. Just watch. Any cop fired will eventually be rehired with backpay.

Yes and no qualified immunity or desk duty or paid leave. I hope this sets a precedent across all states for police officers and strikes down qualified immunity so that officers have to get malpractice insurance.

What a great example of staying on and investigating a story even when it’s no longer in the headlines. Thank you for staying on this, something clearly has to be done since Abbot is never going to take action or curb gun violence.
