We just bore witness to Penn's real-time realization that his daughter now only has two years left in high school.
I currently have 3 kids in college. It doesn't get easier!!!
I know : ( It was so sweet but sad
My youngest is a junior. 😭
I have a rising 11th grader too. Right there with you!
They are in the back nine for sure, and most of the panic from the ad video they did years ago are coming true.
I love you saying, "You're allowed to have dad emotions." My husband absolutely gets emotional about our kids growing, and I love how deeply he loves them!
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
I love hearing Kim laughter in the background, and I think the fact that their daughter is in the last two years of school just hit Penn.
It really hit in that minute
Penn, you can still enjoy being a dad when your kids are grown. My kids are grown and gone and I still have great relationships with all of them.
Omg sameeeee
To all the dads out there: my husband had a total emotional breakdown at eighth grade graduation because he’d been gone so much and it was “almost over.” Be there as much as you can and actually BE THERE when you’re there…prevent the ugly cry in the auditorium 😂🤣
My dad cried when I graduated 8th grade and high school. He was a railroader so maybe home a total of not even a week a month. So when I hit school age he missed alot. Finally retired when I was leaving 8th grade.
The unscripted raw emotion was perfect. I’m glad y’all left it in.
Nailed it! Just dropped my youngest off at college last week. Went to Target the day after and bought that donut lunchbox for myself.
I'm proud of you fpr doing that!! Sending kids off is hard, and as adults, there is not enough joy in the world. So you deserve to treat yourself to a donut lunchbox!! ❤
Gotta do what feels right!
Mad respect for raising a great family.
we're trying our best.
“I’m going back to school shopping for me .” Brilliant 😂
Pencil tip: Buy the Dixon Ticonderoga brand pencils (not a sponsor). I have bought these for decades and they have been consistent in quality - and the pencil leads don't break nearly as often as the no name brands. I buy the black ones so that I can tell them from the others on the store shelf (but the yellow ones are just as good). And if you get the rounded triangle shaped ones (labeled "Tri-Conderoga") they don't roll away.
I buys those every year. Lazy me buys the sharpened ones 😂. We have boxes and boxes of them. I love them too
That’s totally my dad right there!😂 He is all about the tri conderoga pencils!
Our school district literally puts "Ticonderoga Pencils" on the supply list! 😂
As a teacher, when Penn was holding the up&up store brand (no hate to Target!), I was yelling at the screen, "No, get the good ones! The good ones!" (of course meaning my faithful Dixon Ticonderoga).
As a retired CPA I have gone back to Wood pencils after using the mechanical ones with refillable lead for years. I love the feel and the smell of wood pencils.
Gotta admit, I was getting choked up at the end... and I don't even have kids! 😭
It really just hit him.
I full on shed some tears.
I'm sitting here with tears in my eyes. The sweetness. 🥲
I'm crying. You guys are the best
My daughter just started 11th grade today. I get just how you feel. It’s a weird mix of pride, love, sadness, and terror.
If we were friends I’d grab a beer with you today.
Ha Penn's delivery of "to-do-sie" made me crack up 😆
Then his speech about 11th grade made me tear up. It couldn't have been my own emotions about my son starting his last year of elementary this year creeping over. Because I already cried about that 2 days ago. So that couldn't have been it. ...*sigh*... The time goes so quickly.
But seriously, Lola was so young when I started watching you during covid! How is she that old already!
A couple of weeks ago we all went together to buy school supplies to my eldest son who’s starting elementary school next week. My son was very happy and excited and at some point, I looked at him and felt so emotional. It seems to me he was born “yesterday” and there he was with strong opinions on pencil’s cases. I looked over, at my husband and clearly he was having similar feelings. God help us when the time for the 11th grade has come. 😅 Hold on tight guys! 💗
❤
That's beautiful!! It does go fast, but you'll all be alright. Also, it is definitely a good thing to have strong opinions on school/office supplies! ❤
@@chrisbecker4412 Thank you! ❤️ That’s such a nice thing to say!
Love how Penn's holding toddler size clothing (1:20) ...you guys are hilarious!
I think this is youth size?
Penn knocked this one ouf out of the park! Every time I thought he was done, he had more.
To your sister's wedding 😂😂😂
That was a little bit of a reach
I can't believe how long I've been watching you guys...it's been several years now. But 11th grade already?!? WOW! I feel like I do when my friends' kids grow up before our very eyes...and so unbelievably fast. Thanks for sharing those very real emotions with us, Penn. I'm over here tearing up myself...wow!
I was laughing until I started crying. Watching them grow and then grow away is incredible but so very hard at times.
Penn giving me tears at the end there 😥
me too : (
Oh, the memories this brings back! My daughter will be going into 34th grade this year!
I’m dying 😂😂😂 I’m not even married and don’t have kids. But school supplies in stores do trigger this.
Last years of your daughter at home? Brace yourself. When it came to our first child leaving home for college, I was a mess the entire weekend we dropped her off.
As she finishes high school, enjoy all the "last times" you'll have. They are very sweet. Let the tears roll. There is joy in the morning.
I have been an empty nester for many years now. It never gets better. There are so many days that I wish we could go back to when the kids were toddlers. But, the saving grace is that our adult relationships are wonderful ❤
I get pangs of anxiety thinking about it --- then I get excited thinking of the freedom from youth sports
@@holdernessfamilylaughsthe best part of getting to the other side is I’m not the chauffeur anymore; but I admit that I sometimes miss those car ride chats and sing-a-longs
Oh man, I feel for you guys! We're just a few years ahead of you, & our youngest just moved out. I won't lie - it IS very emotional - but the other half to that which doesn't get talked about as much is watching your kids grow into independent young adults is one of the greatest, unique feelings a parent can have! You just have to adjust to parenting from afar. But enjoy em while you can in the mean time.
We're working on learning how to "parent" an adult. Our oldest is 19, working and living at home. She's currently looking for a new job and has been doing it all on her own. She struggles with anxiety, so when I found out she's applied for 10-15 positions, I was so proud! 😁
My youngest is entering her final semester of college. I absolutely concur with the great feelings of seeing your children grow into wonderful independent young adults! All 3 of mine are beautiful human beings, and now I have the added bonus of a son-in-law since my son married his partner last year!
Can I please just get you a donut lunch box😅 ....yeeees ... me talking my kids into all the things they don't care about lol
I want this stuff for myself
My wife cried for my daughter starting Kindergarten. And our 15 year old is growing up too fast. I hear you guys!
Kim's laughing! I love it! Thanks for another great video!
You guys are the best - Please hit Hallmark hard this season! I need to find out if Chan Delier finds luuuuv. 😂
I almost cried listening to Penn talk about their daughter! My kid just went into Kindergarten how am I getting emotional over someone else's kid going into 11th grade
Penn that was so precious and relatable. I appreciate y’all leaving the emotional realization in the video. You’re a great dad.
Me with the paper calendars and worried that the teachers think we don't own more than two outfits! When the kids grow up you can always adopt another one, I did. LOL
the last two years does go by so fast, it is really hard. But at the same time my relationships with my leave the house kids have become even better. Let yourselves feel it all!
ugh. I hate feeling the feelings sometimes.
Just teared up at the ending of this, so sweet. I'll be feeling all those feels tomorrow, when I drop my baby off at college.
Spot on! 🤣 we have a senior this year… 😢😩😭
Also Mom of a senior. I keep telling myself it means I did a good job but 😭
My 2 sons are a junior and senior. Like, those emotions are real!!! Even my son said “that went fast- I remember hugging your legs, now I’m a head taller than you!” 😭. Penns reaction was so real and the little snickers in the background from Kim- priceless!
I know IT goes so fast.
Started out laughing...ended up crying. ❤
SAME
“I’m going to buy back to school stuff for me!” 😂
Ok, so I'm glad that these are normal Mom feelings!!
I feel the same! Going back to school is a crazy time! Yes Kim I love me a paper calendar! Thanks for the laugh 😂
Kim is such a nerd and Penn is so ADHD. It works beautifully. ❣
My oldest is starting 11th grade, too. Hard to believe how quickly the end is coming! I am right there with you with all the feels and realizing how soon it will all be over!
Every parent has had that realization, just wish time would slow down 🫂
The struggle is real. Its sucks when they leave home. I cant describe it.
This was hilarious! 😂
Calendars! 😂🤣😂
Then you get to watch the grandchildren grow up. My oldest granddaughter is a sophomore this year!
If you have the money and want to go shopping, buy and donate to a school supply drive! Or ask at your local school or Boys&Girls Club what they need for clothing, supply, or food cupboards.
Yes! Thanks for this reminder , can check the local YMCA for their school supplies drive too
YES! We have a great local group here we love to donate to! (as well as all those Amazon wish lists from teachers)
I love a paper calendar too Kim - It's a gen X thing :) 6 is a lot, but you do you!
You will peel my paper calendars from my cold dead hands
@@holdernessfamilylaughs- Kim, are you familiar with the Happy Planner? You’re welcome and I’m sorry all rolled into one, but it’ll change your life!😂 Love the videos!!!
Dont miss a single senior activity that a parent can get involved in!!! (Except the ones that are major decorating & construction- stick to activities that you are present w the kids)… because the Sept after graduation is the hardest month of my life in all my 50 yrs.
When we were sending our daughter to preschool I had that someone is walking on my grave moment when I realized I would not always be able to stand there with my arms around her papa bear style and protect her from the world. Sigh. They grow up and must face the world on their own.
I can relate to the part about the clothes. In the yearbook last year my son was in a few of the pictures, and he literally has on the same shirt in all but one of them. 😂
I am so glad to hear my kid is not the only one who has a closet full of clothes but only wears like 2 things all year. I've been tempted to send in a note to her teachers saying "I swear she has more than 2 outfits!"
Penn, we are with you. Our daughter just started senior year. She is our only baby. I've been teary-eyed since the last day of junior year.
We have a 28 year old, 2 juniors in COLLEGE, a high school senior AND junior and to top it off the BABY is a freshman in high school now. Believe me, I get it! The days are long but the years are so very short! 😭❤️
“Days are long but the years are short” explains it so well. 😭 I have a senior.
As a mom of a senior, this video hit. I had a moment there with you. Haha!
I love these videos of your parodies of each other. Your kids may roll their eyes now but someday they are going to be so glad they have them. It's weird how, when your kids are young, it feels like you have child rearing out before you forever, and then all of a sudden it's like they go warp speed and they are out of the house.
Clearing out the closet and unworn clothes, so on point haha
It goes so fast. I started my job when my daughter fired me from taking her inside for grade one. She is now going into her fourth year at University in Ontario. We live in Alberta. It goes so bloody fast. Hang in there. The young adult world for parents is a new experience. I recommend a support group. 😊
I'm going to need a support group!
I feel you, Kim. I've stopped buying clothes or school supplies for my kids.
Here’s your consolation: maybe your kids will wanna take a gap year and go to community college for their generals first so maybe they’ll stick around for a lil bit 😂 (like I did lol)
My nephew did that for his first year of college. But it was 2020 and he ended up finishing that year. On line. At home.
Or they'll be like me and have to move back home because housing is ridiculously expensive. 😂 Almost 28 y/o 🎉😂
Yeah, I'm gonna fo community college next year.
"Walking beast of myth" for the new Holderness t-shirt win. All the girls in my house need this!
I love Penn doing Kim's expressions lol. I love her laugh 😂
Kim, you’re such a good sport. Thank you!
The senior year was the worst year ever! So, so sad! I feel those emotions.
I will be a puddle of emotions
@@holdernessfamilylaughs my youngest then went off to college 3 hours away from home and after I helped him move in, I cried all the way home. I wasn’t driving so I could cry. The bright side of that is that we are the closest out of the 3 kids! He lives in Cleveland with his family. 😊😊
This is sooo KiM; I totally hear her voice in my head. PeNN was spot on! Hearing KiM softly trying not to giggle was priceless😊💳
My son is also 11th this year. 🥺. I am totally with you guys. We just celebrated his 16th birthday with friends at an indoor water park and we didn’t see him all day until it was time to buy food and I kept thinking “this is what it will be like when it’s just his siblings home!” 😳
My oldest is in 11th grade this year too. It's been fun watching your daughter grow up with your videos. It is weird that we only have a couple years left of high school. My youngest is also in eighth grade so I see a lot of similarities between yours and mine. Only difference is I have two boys.
Cracking up until the end... I have a high school junior (a son) this year too!😯The eyes got a little dewy realizing he's in 11th grade this year! Hope your kids have a great school year! Enjoy every minute!
This video is so exactly right.. On so many levels!
Hahahaha "this is not a prop pile" so true!
I love everything about this, especially the calendars.
"this is not a prop pile" is arguably the funniest line of the video - LOL!
😂😂😂 This is me too and I have so many planners and calendars that I have barely used. 😂
Thank you for your channel. You two are so creative, and I love that it’s family friendly and so spot on. I especially love the songs.
Got me in my feels at the end there… ❤
Awww! Your family is adorable. Junior year? 11th grade? Oh my heck! Big hugs, you guys! ❤
It really just hit us
Enjoy this time. Nothing can prepare you for college..it's a surreal feeling when they leave😢where did the time go..
As a kid from the 80's the Trapper Keeper is one of my favorite comebacks!!! I bought one for my teacher binder at school.
That real moment dad had is touching like kids grow up sooo fast😢😢
You guys hit so many good points! The calendar is always insane! 😅
I am glad I am not the only one that feels that way my son is a junior too and it just hit me.
Not me being emotional thinking about my daughter graduating from highschool and going away to college when she's only 8 months old right now 🤦♀️🤣
So many things about this video were spot on. My daughter only wore bicycle shorts and over-sized T shirts for one whole year of elementary school. And forget New Year’s resolutions! The real time parents make resolutions to alter their lifestyles is at back-to-school time.
I love everything about this 🫶🏽
I TOTALLY understand the emotions!!! My son just started college yesterday and wooo talk about feeling all the feels...good gravy I was a mess. Hugging you both tight❤. It goes by so fast doesn't it? So bittersweet.
GOOD GRAVY
Love this! And feel this big! Absolutely loved the giggles in the back ground during the video. ❤
The Trapper Keeper 😂 OMG! They still have them? Now I want one!
Love you guys! I love a paper calendar too Kim 😂! Good luck with the new school year! Can’t believe how fast the time has gone by since your littles were in that Christmas video years ago😢❤ 🤗.
This hit me so hard when you had dad emotions about 11 grade. As I watched this, my husband was in a whole other state with my youngest helping her move into her college dorm, only she is a junior in college. Thanks to COVID, she did her first two years here at home, so this is her first time away from home. I was totally fine, figuring I survived my two oldest being gone and looking at the excitement she was feeling, but then Penn had to go and have feelings. My BABY is now gone, has left the nest. She may be her fathers daughter and my strongest bond may be with said older children, but man it sucks. Enjoy this time with your children. And thanks for letting me vent. You guys are so fun to watch
That real-time reaction at the end ❤ the time does go by so fast
😂 Ah man, this applies to me too😅
So funny all the way through and then I got choked up when Penn had his realization😢 dang it! 😅
I miss actually seeing the kids in the videos, but I love that you respect their privacy, and that if they don't want to be in them, or they're busy with other things, you're cool with it.
“This is not a PROP-pile” lol! 🤣
OMG, from the pencils to the lunch boxes to the calendars to the 11th grade (my oldest is too, yikes!) this is all me, lol!! Also the end almost made me cry a little.
Oh goodness. My youngest graduated 4 years ago. This brought back all the emotions of having a high schooler and a middle schooler. I cried for you! And tomorrow I will rejoice that I don't have to get all peoplely and shop for back to school.
Totally feeling the emotions - and my 3 are all thirty-somethings! 😍
SO you're telling me it doesn't get easier?
@@holdernessfamilylaughs Sorry...no...❤
@@holdernessfamilylaughssorry Kim - not really. The owies get bigger as I’m sure you’ve already noticed from the past 16 years. Just keeps going. You pray they are safe and happy and call you occasionally lol😊
“Not that finger.” 😂😂😂
Love how Kim is laughing in the background...!
Awww. Totally tearing up!
Oh God, my brother hated school, so he loathed any kind of back to school shopping, even for boring ordinary stuff like clothes. The process seemed to start earlier and earlier every year (it didn’t really; Mom just wanted to take advantage of sales and put everything on Lay-a-way so she could enjoy the rest of the summer and not have to think about school shopping). My brother would snark things like, “Why don’t I just start camping outside the school doors in July?” Mom would tell him to stop being such a drama queen. It’s a miracle he made it to actual functioning adulthood.
These videos are so funny because they’re so relatable and bring back so many memories.
This is so perfect! Especially the five shorts and five t-shirts for every day and everything. Oh that junior high boy smell 😂😂
I could really resonate with 3:46+, sending your kids to college. Been through it twice. Learned: it is entirely possible for a human being to feel two exactly contradictory emotions at the same time. One part of you wants them to grow up, leave, find their own lives. The other part wants them to stay, never change, be your child forever. So sorry you're facing this. So grateful you're facing this. Life. It's not easy, as you know.
I love these vids, but honestly, what makes me love them even more is how hubby portrays wifey as having so much personality, and the way he portrays her makes it clear hubby and wifey love each other so much. It kills me how on point it comes off, and it's hilarious and endearing.
