We moved from the pwest coast to the southwest onto Louisiana. Previously I’d been exposed to many languages and foreign accents in my work and had a fairly good ear. The first thing I noticed in my area were different southern accents. Had heard some Cajun that I recognized as semi-French in a Costco (of all things) then heard a language that was presumably English that I couldn’t parse in the same Costco. But I became aware that there were many southern accents in our area. They were all very pretty and expressive. OK. I think we all know that southerners KNOW they’re wrong. What I don’t know is if they continue to do this out of stubbornness or to try to irritate the rest of the country. I saw a great video explaining the Southern dialect. Very interesting.
Ask anyone from Texas it’s not pronounced pee can. That sounds like something you go to the bathroom in.
Texas Southern accent is not the same as Deep South Georgia accent.

Yeah baby Texas ain’t the only southern state 🤣 I know in Tennessee I definitely heard people call them “pee cans”

In Louisiana, we say puh- kahn as well not pee-can.
Southerners don't say "pee-can" it's "pah-cahn" This video is messed up. It ridicules the Southern pronunciations. They are making fun of Southerners.
It depends in the south I say “pee can” but some of my family members say it the other way.
In SC we say pee can.
SC born and raised... I say Pee-can :)
I grew up thinking puh-caughn was the northern pronunciation, that's because no-one in the family says it like and we're all from down here.
I was born in Louisiana and I live in Louisiana and i say “Puh-cahn”

The hat is a tuke or beanie
This is where Ebonics evolved from. Sounds exactly the same.

The northern accents are more of British origin it sounds.
Skull cap
But the hat is pronounced differently than the sled in NC. I think she may be faking. We say TOE-boggan. Different syllable emphasized.
She’s faking the hell out of it..or absolutely exaggerating with that “proper” sound. That’s not how we sound.
