I am Ukrainian. My country has been invaded by Russia. In this video, I will tell you what happened on the seven-hundred-ninety-seventh day of the war.
    Day 797: Apr 30
Today, there is a lot of news from the Avdiivka direction.
Here, Russians have launched a series of costly attacks on the Ukrainian settlement of Berdychi to take it into a pocket.
The main Russian goal to the Northwest of Avdiivka is to break through Ukrainian defensive lines and reach the Ukrainian city of Pokrovsk, which serves as the main Ukrainian headquarters in the region. The first Ukrainian line of defense in the way of the Russian operation is located along the Durna River. Ever since the fall of Avdiivka, Russians have been continuously attempting to breach these Ukrainian defenses in multiple locations.
The settlement of Berdychi is situated on the outermost edge of the Ukrainian river defenses, which is why it has seen the highest intensity of clashes in this direction. After Russian forces managed to cross the railway, they immediately launched numerous waves of attacks in the direction of Berdychi. The Ukrainian 47th mechanized brigade shared drone footage showcasing the Russian losses on the road between Stepove and Berdychi since the fall of Avdiivka.
The notable Russian losses on this road amounted to 20 armored transport vehicles, eight all-terrain vehicles, two engineering vehicles, and several other weapons systems. The Ukrainian brigade stated that Russians had lost up to 1300 soldiers only in these attacks in an attempt to reach the settlement, as the footage also shows the fields and the road itself being scattered with Russian manpower losses. The 47th mechanized brigade also shared footage of them counterattacking one of these Russian assaults with a Bradley infantry fighting vehicle, disabling and destroying the Russian armored vehicle in a duel.
After the incredibly costly Russian attacks, Russians finally managed to reach the settlement of Berdychi itself. Geolocated footage shows Russian forces launching attacks with one or two armored vehicles at a time. Drone operators of the 47th mechanized brigade shared geolocated footage of them destroying a Russian armored transport vehicle that had made it into the settlement with an FPV drone. Another geolocated video shows a Russian assault group attempting to rush into the settlement and take up positions in the destroyed houses. Unfortunately for Russians, as soon as they drove into the town, they were hit by an FPV kamikaze drone. The Russian infantry then attempted to dismount, but they were immediately engaged by Ukrainian small-arms fire and destroyed.
Ukrainian drone operators also shared geolocated footage of them engaging and destroying one Russian T-80 tank near Stepove and another armored transport vehicle in the fields in front of Berdychi itself. Interestingly enough, both these vehicles were equipped with Electronic Warfare systems, which should have countered the Ukrainian drones. This shows that either Ukrainians have adapted to the Russian use of Anti-Drone systems and have found ways to counter them effectively or that Russian Electronic Warfare systems are less reliable than claimed to be.
After this series of failed frontal assaults on the village itself, Russians decided to attempt to outflank the Ukrainian defense line behind the river. While Russians successfully managed to break through to the Ukrainian settlement of Ocheretyne, Russians immediately launched a series of flanking attacks on Berdychi. However, Russians are using the Avdiivka chemical plant as a forward operating base, as the many industrial buildings allow Russian assault groups to hide and support their attacks with armored vehicles. In an attempt to attack from this direction, they had to cover a lot of open terrain to even get close to the Ukrainian lines. Consequently, geolocated footage released by the 47th mechanized brigade shows that the first Russian assault group, consisting of three tanks, was quickly spotted by Ukrainian drone operators, who were already directing artillery fire missions on Russian infantry in Stepove. The drone operators and artillery crews then promptly shifted their attention to the assaulting Russian tanks, destroying them one by one before they even came close to the Ukrainian defenses...

Ukraine should be supplied with an airforce-worth of fighter aircraft, such as the F-16s and longer-range precision munitions, such as ATACMS (more of them;, and the longest-range variants should be provided)}, and the russian military facilities inside of russia should be considered legitimate targets. It is worth noting that support for military aid to Ukraine in America is over 80% and increasing. This is because Americans can see that not only is aiding Ukraine the ethical thing to do, it is the practical thing as well. America has spent only approximately 6% of our military budget so far to help Ukraine. However, over half of the russian army has been destroyed. This is a tremendous bargain by any measure! In addition to this, when russia is defeated in this war, their barbaric ideology of imperialism will also be defeated, making Europe a more peaceful, stable place for many generations - as well as preventing a new arms race in the region. That is why billions spent today saves trillions tomorrow. The vast majority of Americans understand this. Americans also want to see Ukrainian military and civilian casualties minimized. This is why Americans are correct to support giving military aid to Ukraine.
Please write to your elected representatives to request this military aid. If you are a US citizen, please consider writing to President Biden and your other elected representatives, and demand Ukraine be given the above weapons - in war-winning quantities, and soon. The sooner we give Ukraine the weapons it needs to liberate all of its territory, the sooner this war will be over, and with fewer Ukrainian casualties. Letters can be submitted electronically via the Whitehouse website. One can also google for ones' elected representatives - many of which have similar websites. One may simply write and submit a letter electronically to make one's desire known.

      Not even close...
The UK's worst day in WW1 had them lose 20,000... in a day.
"The Battle of the Somme finally ended in late November, when rain, snow and sleet made operations impossible.
It was difficult to tell victor from vanquished, The Germans had 660,000 dead or wounded. The Allies (including Britain, France and Canada) had 623,907 casualties including 24,000 dead or wounded Canadians, representing a quarter of the Canadian contingent.
The Allies had pushed forward only 13 kilometres in the Somme Valley during the bloodiest battle of the war. "
Now, compared to US battles post WW2, these numbers are quite high. But, this war... other than digging a 1000km of trench networks, it's not anywhere near WW1. Thankfully. Not yet anyway.

1.5 billion shells over about 1500 days would suggest 1 million shells a day. Shells now have proximity fuses and are probably bigger, making them a lot more lethal. But 15000 a day is still 1/66th of a million. The WW1 western front was half as long, which doubles the intensity per km of front compared to Ukraine. And the 1/66 number is from spreading out the numbers among the whole duration, reality was more like half the shells were shot in the last year of the war. Ukraine vs WW1 western front number of shots, the intensity, more like for every 1 shot in Ukraine, 250 shells dropped in the last year of The Great War.

Ukraine should be supplied with an airforce-worth of fighter aircraft, such as the F-16s and longer-range precision munitions, such as ATACMS ((more of them, and the longest-range variants should be provided), and the russian military facilities inside of russia should be considered legitimate targets. In addition to this;, when russia is defeated in this war, their barbaric ideology of imperialism will also be defeated, making Europe a more peaceful, stable place for many generations - as well as preventing a new arms race in the region.

And that is if all of them can be conscripted without permanently reducing the size of the village. Of course it can't be taken in isolation if there is overriding strategic value - but this disastrous loss ratio hasn't happened in isolation, it is being repeated a hundred times a year. Russian jammers can only jam a limited spectrum of frequencies at once. Swap frequency to one that isn't so efficiently covered and you can get much closer (or even attack unhindered). Although from what I've seen a method of countering is to simply drop in from above (loss of control doesn't matter if the drone is already on a ballistic trajectory). This tactic though won't work on a turtle tank (but turtle tanks are at a distinct disadvantage against vehicles and ATGMs).
