We were taught Kathak, Bharatnatyam, Kambuchi palaavi, in our school, Esena in Lahore -
We were taught Sindhi, Baluchi, Pashtun music and dances!!
We learnt sitar! In our schools but how this extremism is killing our culture!!

Respected sir I am 55yrs old born and brought up in Delhi.I had a love for music and dance in my childhood and father scolded me and said Miraasi banna hae ki. He was born in Pakistan and in 1947 shifted to India.I think these type of thoughts were there in 1930-40s and the families which were some type of rich or well-off made lower class people dance in there family function.In Mumbai film industry too there were only Muslim hero and heroine.Uptil 1955 this thing prevailed and anyone from Hindu community working in films etc was looked down as if not of there elite community.

In India In School n colleges students participate in diffrent cultural dance and music festival ,So they learn co existence of diffrent cultures and enjoye it.
I my self participate diffrent states dances during school days and really enjoyed it.
