The point of knife safety is that if you need enough leverage to require pulling instead of pushing then either the blade is dangerously dull or the positioning of the cut is an unstable hand position (too far away from center of mass). While you’re exactly correct and pulling is easier than pushing for any action that requires force it’s still a sign of dangerous equipment or technique.

Dude. I helped build my daughters last board; and being a perfectionist, she asked me to help lay the grip tape, check the hardware, etc. My tape job was smooth, but buddy here has a system down that took like 30sec...took me a good bit lining it up & getting it to lay down smooth...tushè!

The trick is i would say, is to have a template of that and cut it before you a peel the back off the tape ao the extra bit of tape can be used on the next. I dont like to waste. Use the whole animal. But aick way to do that , its been twenty years and this the 1st time i seen that way 😅

It's nothing to do with making it easier. It's to do with not slipping and jabbing an artery.
