The point of knife safety is that if you need enough leverage to require pulling instead of pushing then either the blade is dangerously dull or the positioning of the cut is an unstable hand position (too far away from center of mass). While you’re exactly correct and pulling is easier than pushing for any action that requires force it’s still a sign of dangerous equipment or technique.
I’m 40 years old and out of shape and I haven’t been on a skateboard in quite a few years, but there still something so satisfying about watching someone grip a deck super clean!

As long as you can ride it, it don't matter if you used 3 sheets of grip, it's all you. I do challenge you to do the same thing with a single sheet, to save some for your next rad board.
