  • A stroke can happen anywhere at any time.
When it comes to a stroke, minutes matter. Every minute you wait while having a stroke, 1.9 million brain cells die. When symptoms are recognized (face droop, arm drift and slurred speech), a call to 911 is imperative. October 29 is World Stroke Day.
Nebraska Medicine’s stroke team worked with emergency responders and the staff of Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan, Iowa, on a stroke drill to raise awareness and emphasize the importance of getting a patient to a Comprehensive Stroke Center as soon as possible.
