    Before this, Glenda Jackson's last appearance on tv as an actress was in 1992 and she's now 84. Then she won the BAFTA TV award in the leading actress category for this tv comeback.
    She has Academy awards, BAFTAs, Emmys, a Golden Globe, and a Tony. What a legend.

    Just watched this on catchup and Glenda gives a very impressive insight into advancing dementia. After semi-retirement I did about about 5-years one-to-one care and that involved clients with dementia. There were times during this drama that reminded me so much of the behaviour patterns. Glenda nailed it to a tee, the little subtleties that go far beyond just loss of memory. Great to see you back Glenda...

    This was an amazing performance on the part of Jackson; thank God in England there are writers and an audience for the great women (most of whom are Dames) for well written shows that don't cast them as supporting or minor roles. They don't have to resort to playing crazy ladies.

    SPOILERS AHEAD - SCROLL DOWN
    I thought this was very good and Glenda Jackson was excellent. But I was slightly confused by the ending.
    If Maud knew that her sister had been killed by her husband and that he then buried the body then she must have witnessed this and known what had happened from the start.
    So why did she think so soon afterwards that Doug, the lodger, may have been responsible?
    And are we supposed to think that Frank killed Sukey in front of Maud, buried the body and assumed that Maud would keep quiet about it?

    • @littlea5h
      @littlea5h Před 4 lety

      Read the book trust me.. it makes more sense why she thinks so plus all your confusion will be answered 😊

      @ppuh6tfrz646 Před 4 lety +1

      @@littlea5h But it shouldn't be necessary to read the book.
      The TV film should stand on its own.

    • @fdl238
      @fdl238 Před 3 lety +4

      I just watched it, no she did not witness it. She later knew where her sister was buried because of the ramblings of the crazy lady, which she wasn't able to understand when she was younger. That's why the crazy lady has the comb. Either the lady was a witness or the killer. But more likely it was Frank because he had the sense to throw away her suitcase. And Maud thought it was Doug because it was obvious that he was attracted to her sister. And Frank even "faked" his suspicion to Doug when he just "arrived" from London.
