    Our cj's do have a problem with the light switch in the dash going bad. The switch is not built very well and here in the South corrosion plays a big part of it not working properly. I will change my headlights switch this weekend and let you know if anything changes. Once again your videos have helped me better than any I havefound anywhere. THANK YOU !!!!!!!!

    Awesome, thanks for putting these videos up. Where can you find "replacement" OEM screws....not at Ace Hardware. I used the LED light that you suggested on your other video...I'm still trying to figure out why the LEDs when the regular bulbs work. Oh well, I'll keep trying 🙂

      I am not aware of a source for these. May need to buy a general screw and unthreaded spacer by size. I will measure it when I get a chance. Currently out of town for a couple weeks and don’t have access to it.

    Thank you for the for the great LED switch twitch videos. I recently took your advice ist ended a switch to LED's. I am having a problem with my front parking lights as well. They work as they should with my blanket on, but with just the parking lights on they will not come on.

      Nice! Two common causes of these symptoms.
      1. Make sure you are using the superbrightleds bulbs that were specifies. They are non-polarity sensitive, which is required.
      2. Make sure the parking light housings are securely installed onto the body with the factory shoulder screws.
      I’m assuming you have done this and this is not the issue.
      I would move on to inspecting and testing the bulb sockets and connectors; things that were disturbed or moved when changing the bulbs. Some of my bulb sockets are not the best and don’t always have a good connection.
      You can also reinsert the original bulbs and thermal flasher to see how they function. Bulb issue or connector issue.

      @@HowtoandReviewsOfficial Sir about the exact bulbs that you mentioned. I have not tried swapping them out with the originals again but I will definitely try that. I'll get back with you after I do all of this and some more troubleshooting at the beginning of the week. Thanks again for your videos and replying.

    Can you do the headlight? My parking lights work but not the headlights??

    Thank you for posting this video. I grounded the housing it and still doesn't work. I even switched lights. Still, only one turning lights work. Your thoughts on that?

      When troubleshooting these types of things in general, don’t dig in too far changing a bunch of things, otherwise it will create more variables and uncertainties.
      If it was working before the lightbulb changed, and now it doesn’t work with the new lightbulb, it must be the result of something that was touched during the process. I would be looking at the bulb, plugs, and the integrity of any wires that moved or wiggled during the process.
      I personally had some issues when I changed my tail lights. It turned out some of the wires were worn and broke a little ways up the harness as a result of me tugging on them and moving them around at the tail light.
      I would move on to using a test wire, to make sure the plugs and such are working properly. I would try to find what is causing the open circuit.

    • @HowtoandReviewsOfficial
      @HowtoandReviewsOfficial  Před 3 lety

      The parking light housing plugs into the harness. Unplug both of the housings and swap them. Then you will know if the problem is in the housing (if the problem follows the housing), or if the problem is somewhere in the harness (if the problem stays in the same position after the housings are swamped).

      Let me know how swapping the housings goes.

      @@HowtoandReviewsOfficial thanks for following up. After the swap, it still doesn't blink. There may be a loose connection at the connection point.

    Sorry for the misspelling as I was saying the blinker works as it it should but my parking lights will not come on. As I was doing the install I left both my headlights and parking lights out as I was testing them. At 1 point my parking light did come on as it should with the switch pulled out one click. Do not know what happened but after the install they will not work just as parking lights alone.

    Hey man, I have a question. I just finished my cj5 restoration (you can check it out on my channel). But I'm having issues with the parking lights. When I turn the lights on the passenger light turns to the dim mode which is what it's supposed to do and the passenger turn signal works as it should. On the driver side the parking lights automatically goes to the brighter setting and the turn signal doesn't work. So basically the driver side the bulb goes straight to flash but stays bright. Suggestions?

    • @HowtoandReviewsOfficial
      @HowtoandReviewsOfficial  Před 2 lety

      Nice, I will definitely check it out on your channel.
      My first thought is that the wiring of the parking light housing is polarity sensitive, and brand new replacement housings have been known to come wired backward.
      Are these new aftermarket housings?

    • @decentgarage
      @decentgarage Před 2 lety

      @@HowtoandReviewsOfficial yes they are cheap replacements from Amazon. I tried reversing the polarity with jumper wires and that made it so the light didn't work at all...

    • @HowtoandReviewsOfficial
      @HowtoandReviewsOfficial  Před 2 lety

      @@decentgarage Next, I would try swapping the left and right housings to see if the problem follows the housing. If not, there is something going on in the wiring harness.

      @@HowtoandReviewsOfficial dude you're a genius! It's the housing for sure. Swapped them and the problem moved to the other side
