OPENING DAY OF THE 2024 PENNSYLVANIA TROUT SEASON!

Well guys after a full week of rain and flooding waters the weather finally slacked off and the creek was able to drop enough to make it fishable for Opening Day of the 2024 Pennsylvania trout season! Me and Casey hit the creek several hours before first cast to secure one of the best holes on the creek! We was able to catch some Rainbow Trout while euro nymphing in these rough water conditions! With weather looking clear for this upcoming week the creeks should continue to drop making fishing even better. Typical Pa opening trout day. Asshole to elbow with a ton of other fishermen for small hatchery fish. The reason I gave it up and went fishing the Paulpack and saltwater fishing in NJ. 9 inch trout makes a good bait!

It's that old saying.. Fish in a barrel. Stocked trout are easy to catch. The creeks been loaded with fish and these fish aren't scared of people. Plus, they eat pretty much anything. IMHO, they should start stocking fish at least a couple weeks before the season opens. They should also continue to stock fish without announcements. I say this because here in MD, they announce the stocking schedule and the creeks basically get closed. After the stocking, they open and everyone is there. It's shoulder to shoulder, fishing for trout. And usually by noon, the creeks are getting fished out. What I'd love to see is when the season opens, the 1st few hours should be for kids only. I say this because kids, especially younger kids if you want them to want to go fishing again, need to be on fish. And if only kids were allowed, again, for the 1st few hours, they'd have a bit of room to try different spots and be on fish. Maybe catch a trophy holdover fish.

Pa has a youth mentor day for children a week prior to opening day and I'd say stocked trout doesn't eat just anything other wise you'd catch more lol. This creek is suitable for holdover trout to survive the summer so it rules them out which sucks.

I was out and had a foul hook with a line in its mouth, and few get off. The creek I fished was high but clear, and I could see them swiping, and I figured they were swiping and catching the line and when I went to set the hook I was pulling the line out. I did well overall with more landed than lost.

Yee Haa...nothing like buying a license and an extra cost trout stamp and still catch nine inch fish...PA Trout Stocking SUCKS for years

There is no opening day in PA. You can trout fish year round.

Had a Hardy reel on an Orvis split bamboo rod belonged to my best friend! I hooked a 17” brown that darn near spooled me lol ! When my friend told me he paid close to 2 grand for that outfit I was upset that he gave me that expensive rod to fish lol ! It cast like a dream and that England made Hardy reel’s drag was like butta!
