it slightly annoys me that Artemis, and the other gods don't acknowledge that at one point it was so he could leave and not deceive them, there is a turning point where he does but feels a bit unfair

Chaos said that Zagreus was amusing. Mel is a lot more serious than Zag, so it’s only natural that they wouldn’t find her to be as amusing as him.

At first I was sad there was no Zag in this game. Then I realized Supergiant just made a GENIUS move to make us completely emotionally invested in saving our beloved previous protaginist.

The game is early access, it’s not actually fully finished. My guess is when it is we’ll have like what we did before where u make a bit of story progress after beating the boss each time. And once you truly finish the game we’ll most likely see Zag again
Imagine if we found him tortured by chronos and he somehow becomes a boss battle with worse moves than he had in Hades due to the long time starved and tortured...
That would be a quick way to make everyone hate Chronos real fast 💀

Zagreus and the rest of the other gods like nyx, thanatos, megaera, and dusa e.t.c are all frozen in some cube like thing by Chronos
He'll be back. Hopefully, in grand tradition, as the super boss who's going to punch me in the teeth repeatedly.
According to an interview with Supergiant, Zag will be appearing in the final game, though at present he is not in Early Access.

Poseidon and Demeter really miss Zag, I mean, Poseidon's voice tells everything, he genuinely misses him and Demeter got attached to him very quickly. Our boy Zagreus deserves to be part of this game.

It's even crazy that Chaos misses him. Considering they try to stay chaotic neutral, if you will, on all matters until Nyx got involved.

Zagreus is probably VERY fortunate that Aphrodite figured out Chronos was the reason they lost contact. Knowing how she can be in the myths I imagine she would not take too kindly to being ghosted.
Though at the same time, she was worried that it was HER who offended HIM and possibly felt hurt about that. That's a luxury mortals (and many other gods) can only vaguely dream off. Yeah, Zag has some sway in the family and almost seems to be that charismatic life of the party and mediator of the bunch,
@@Aurilion44 Knowing what he did on the first game? They definitely see him in a very positive light, and probably thinks that if he is the one avoiding you, you must have fucked up. So it must have been a relief to most of them that zagreus was only trapped instead of not contacting any of them
I mean, Zagreus is likely pretty used to the wrath of the gods if having to pick only one is anything to go by.

I'm kind of hoping that after you rescue him he either functions like Olympians to give you boons, or functions like chaos/hades to give you occasional powerful boons. The god of blood, helping out his little sister.
Might potentially fill a similar role to Thanatos, in that he shows up now and then during the odd run to "Test your abilities" but more or less helps out for a room albeit with a challenge of beating more enemies then him.
If you do well, you get a reward. If not? Well, fun sibling bonding moment

My theory is that he ends up being one of the summons. Giving his sister Mel one of the plushies he loved to collect so much, the excuse being it was a gift he was saving for her first birthday.
Some people are speculating co-op might come to the game, maybe you can play as him as player two?
Kind of funny how everyone even Chaos is just kind of "yeah your brother was awesome. Shame you didn't meet him. You're alright too I guess." Hopefully as the game goes on they'll start to like meli more
Mel inherited more of Hades' demeanor while Zag got more of Persephone's. Gonna take more time for Mel to stop being so severe, especially with the family situation.
Chaos is slaying its new design
Felt like they adapt according to those who contacts them, Chaos chaotic abomination form took form because Zagreus seeking freedom from his Father's domain while Chaos neat orderly form took form because Melinoe seeking order for her Father's domain.

I'm thinking like in Dishonoured 2, by the time we get to Chronos enough times, Zagreus features as a secret character. Maybe a companion summon or a call. I'd love to see how powerful he's become between games (current incarceration aside).
@@Aurora-313 oh I understood what you mean, personally I am wishing for both that and (eventually) Co-op multiplayer. They have said they wouldn't, but if both characters end up roaming in the story there isn't a reason why *not* lol
I like how Hermes just helping zagreus ended being genuine attachment. The way he refer to Melinoë task as "we" also shows how much he willing to openly involved this time to save the family and zagreus
I mean yeah even in the first game Hermes really seems to enjoy chatting with Zagreus each time they meet
Interesting, so the reason why Hephaestus wasn't around in the first game was because he simply sat out when Nyx When to the Olympians for help, But.
In a way he does have a point if the other guys didn't bring each other into their problems. Maybe things wouldn't have escalated to certain situations.
And it's nice to see that the other gods all remember Zag fondly, especially since they got more involved with the Underworld operations. Since he became the official stress tester for their defenses. He must have put up one hell of a resistance against Chronos before eventually being captured and sealed off to who knows where.
from the Hades "minigame" you can see that zagreus tried to throw a cast but was frozen mid animation, shame really, chronos would have been cooked
@@ayaya- That might just be a placeholder for now! They used his old sprite from the original game, but the portrait Mel has shows him with an updated look, so I'm holding out hope that they're going to give him more of a role in future updates.

I like how they capture the self centered nature of some of the gods. They have very little understanding of a world outside themselves.
Like Aphrodite is glad it wasn’t because of her that Zag did not respond. Sure it seems insensitive to us, but I am sure she was really relieved.
Honestly, for a the Aphrodite, vain, spiteful, emotional, avarice filled goddess, worrying that she was the one who offended him (i.e. her fault) instead of taking it as offense and blaming him? That is absolutely titanic show of how much she likes and respects him. Zag must have became a straight up enitre family's mediator while being immensely respected
I love the implication that Aphrodite was just casually sending messages to Zagreus all the time, enough to notice his disappearance. Though, it’s also funny that she noticed mostly because he quit responding to them, meaning Zagreus probably always responded to her messages, despite how many it was implied she sent.

He’s also looking to be the fastest to get attached to Melinoe. Aside from Aphrodite, the returning gods oddly seemed to have matured a smidge since the last game, though feel a little bad for our goddess that most of her family is comparing to her older sibling from the start
@@gameb9oythe gods are probably matured because an actual threat returned. Before they were just chilling, occasionally helping a kid kill his dad so that the kid could see his mom.

I like how Chaos low-key disses Mel by saying Zagreus was interesting and that Mel is so much different from him. Makes sense for Chaos to feel this way, since Mel seems to have inherited the dutiful and orderly nature of her father, compared to Zag being more rebellious and free-spirited...Chaotic you might say

A personal theory of mine, and why Chaos seems to not like Melinoe, is that Chaos takes on the form of whatever the person speaking to them would imagine they look. Zagreus’ idea of Chaos was much more amusing and fun to Chaos, but Melinoe’s idea is boring to Chaos and they kinda hate it. Also Chaos is much more interested in Zagreus’ cause because he is doing the opposite of what the authority in his life is telling him to do- while Melinoe is doing what her mentor and family wants. Chaos finds Melinoe’s studious nature boring compared to Zagreus’ more chaotic fly off the handle approach
The form isnt really that, especially since chaos face is very close to nyx´s face in the first game, mostly because it seems that zagreus succeded in reuniting the two and chaos became closer to the family as a whole. Though, it does makes sense of zagreus being way more chaotic and thus more interesting to chaos, since melinoe is more akin to hades in the way she handles things. Which makes his remark of her not being interesting more of a "Gods, please do something without planning it first please."

Honestly I think people will riot if Zag isn't ok.
Quite frankly, I fear Chronos has cut off his eyes and ears, fed him to his weapons (Like Zagreus fed titan blood to his weapons) and the taught him how to fight by touch and smell, leading to a boss fight with a decayed Zagreus who can't see you nor hear you, and with worse move set than in the original out of exhaustion and agony.
That would be a real quick way to make everyone despise Chronos, and with how much everyone is like: "THEY WILL BE FINE, DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT" as much as I don't think it will go to such lengths, I really don't think he'll be ok.
And yes, my mind tends to go to the worst possible scenario, so I really hope I am wrong💀

Chronos' meddling with everything really did change how Chaos look, act and feel, huh? They are so, feminine, regal and authoritative now

i think its more about some kind of cycle of rebirth and their constant chaotic tranformation, like we see them with their former skull and a their next body growing already

2:51 Chaos basically telling Mel that she's a wet blanket compared to her brother. That's a hoot.
I genuinely love the differences between Melinoe and Zagreus so much. Mel is so burdened by duty but is also deeply innocent and focused, coming across as naive. It gives her this perfect younger sibling energy to the cool rebellious overachiever brother.
I love to see when a sequel recognizes its previous protagonist and their accomplishments.

might be because its early access. I can assure you that there are no comments from Artemis about Zagreus as I've checked the dialogue from files. These are the only ones I can find that talk about Zagreus

As someone still getting new dialogue in the first game, I was taken aback at first when they referred to him in the past tense. Then sighed a breath of relied when it sounds like he's likely just been captured.
As a younger sister I feel this though, lol. Imagine going on a quest and everyone who helps you knew your brother.

Hey what would be cool is if you could free zagreus and then whenever you do a run, you can run into him delving deeper as well. There coukd be a chance that when you fight chronos he shows up and fights alongside you

I wonder if, when they finish the game, an aspect of it in the future will be that we can co-op with one person playing Melinoe and the other playing Zagreus. Take each other on adventures breaking out of and INTO Hades. XD
