I might sound crazy, but I spend about 3 of my average 4 hours in game daily on days I work, 6 of the 10 on the days I'm off with nothing else to do, literally hunting down buried cache points on planets, specifically for these awesome modules.
wow... so me as a beginner (recently returned after 4 years of absence to the game) just deleted them as soon as i found them in the wilderness because i was too afraid that something bad will happen if i install or sell the suspicious modules. so its just gambling resources for maxing out your tech. or a good way to sell a few of them for nanites each time you hit a space station. thanks for this very informative video!
Great info. You can get loads of these things now from the suspicious weapon/technology packages from the vendor on outlaw stations. They can be really cheap too when you consider that you'll randomly get some trade items from them that can be sold back for about what you spent on the whole stack. But the upgrades f'n suck... could take you all day to find some usable pieces...they're so frustrating.
I think this is Hello Games way of not only giving newer and mid-range players a easy option but also giving us High tier players an option to distribute at the Nexus. Every time I see one of these black market ships I have been buying up the entire stock. Only a few thousand nanites. Then I just fly up to the Nexus and handed out to all the people who are obviously knew. Like the people walking around testing boundaries and taking in the sights. A lot of new people right now and it's a good way to help them out without breaking their game

I just had an idea similar to this. As a ship hunter I feel like exotics have gotten boring. I want a new class of ships that are even cooler looking and more rare, like 0.25% spawn rate, that have even better stats. I didn't think of what tier they'd be but I think your idea of an X class would be perfect.
@@Soundwave0606 although the ship generation is unique, it only has only so big of a pool of different parts of ships to combine to make them look different and you'll end up with similar looking ships. Same with exotics. I feel like they should add more variety and if they ever did add like an X class or a rarer class than S, I feel like you said only a. 25% chance to spawn in and I also think it should have unique parts to that class of shit. Would be different parts between haulers, fighters, etc but unique to their own class and nothing like C through S
One addition I would like if they did this would be the ability for ships to hover. I find it really strange that these are supposed to be futuristic interplanetary star ships but they can’t hover like a fighter jet designed and built by the British firm Hawker Siddeley back in the 1960’s!
Also a easy way to get waht you want is to land on the space station, go to the Black market vendor, buy the upgrade install it to see the stats. If it's not what you want just load last save and rinse and repeat. This also works with the other vendors in the space station.

Hi Xaine ! I think the stats have changed, or it's a visual bug, because there are some modules that never display the stats you are showing. Or maybe it's something I don't understand regarding how the stats are implemented ?
I actually don't equip any multi tool "Overheat Down Time" modules because I like to keep my mining beam close to overheating for the increased mining speed. So the slower the down time the easier it is for me to keep the temperature high.

You spoke to the heart of us min max players with this video haha... Thank you! The hazard protection mods are gold, before the c class blueprint mods were rather useless by themselves imo for the inventory space taken but now stacking them with maxed X class mods and your hazard protection can be quite powerful making them worth the space.
When I first launched NMS post-Origins, a wandering BM trader landed at my base, and not at one of my available landing pads but landed on the ground right in front of me. Most of the tech I bought I wound up scrapping, keeping only a minor hazard protection of 2% for all hazards.
Same thing there even if there is a possible existence of 10% OVERALL hazard protection the ones I got in the space stations till now never exceeded 4%.
A heads up for ya. I've gotten most of my X class parts from shooting down pirates in space. Apparently they love me so they're always attacking me every trip to space I go With the multitool scanner, it looks like you're missing one. My X class has stats for all three scans plus scan radius. Aka Fauna analysis = +10,852%, flora analysis = +9,946%, mineral analysis = +9,681% and scan radius of 47%. I haven't seen anything better than this yet for my scanner
This is very useful information to know. A bit outdated now but I'm sure the stats still stand. However, I was very sad to find out that once you obtain a module the stats are actually set in stone they just don't show. See, I had the smart idea to save before installing but after reloading a couple of times to 'retry' the rolls, I noticed the module was giving me exactly the same stats 😢
@@zazethe6553 nope. I reloaded the save several times and installed the mods in different orders and the position they were when I installed them gave exactly the same stats. 99% sure they are predetermined bud
if you collect pugneum from ship owners on a space station and buy from the scrap dealer you can save the game and reload the save you just made and the scrap dealer and the ship owners reset so you can do it over and over
I was just roaming a planet on foot looking for cobalt caves and all of a suden some pilot lands his ship in the middle of nowhere and when I approached him to trade he had 9 different X class module upgrades!
So I guess I missed it, does it border stack? So could you run 3 x class instead of 3 s class? I am looking for them but seems they have terrible chances for me 1 out of 9 venders may have a single x anything.
Swish dude, major swishage for shizzle. One thing I'm curious about is if the X class seed is progressed the same way as standard tech, or if it is not linked to that internal seed? Peace for now dude!
Great job on the black market I always wondered what do they give and how much I don’t know if I should it’s like a gamble maybe a fun gamble making it easier or harder who knows what they will add next
The scrap trader now ONLY takes 'TAINTED METAL'. The 'Frontiers' upgrade has ruined a lot of things. Tainted metal can only be found on a derelict freighter......... :(((
first time playing the game still on my first planet and found an x hazard module 2's and 4' s just tried to find out about it and came across this vid first wow is all i can say
A great guide as always. Is this data from game files or in game observation? On the scatter blaster s-class and X-class damage figure you give s range as 3 to 5 and x as 1 to 6. Based on my in game experience I've only ever seen a maximum of 3 for this stat for s or x.
Aye this is from the files, the relation to damage is a tricky one, i believe they are just additive damage bumps, and that they are shown as a percentage in game in relation to the damage the gun makes. I plan to cover this more indepth if i can get a clear working of it for a mega guide
Did you ever find a space station with X-class scatter blaster or X-class positron ejector mods for sale at the scrap dealer? Or did you only find them via the suspicious packages/buried caches
is it just me or bad RNG for the Defense Systems the highest I got for them were 34% shield strength, core health 33% I've seen other youtubers with 93% or 94% shield strength and 33% core health is it me or just bad luck
Ok, there is one thing he seems to have missed. If you buy an X class item save. That same item can give you different stats depending on the order you install it in relation to other modules you install or open. X class items are dependent on the stored RNG number the game keeps. Saving and reloading will not change that number. However if you open another item first then the same X class item will now have new stats when you open it. Example: Buy a module for the multitool and then buy a class C module. Save. Open the X class module first and it see its stats. Reload this time install the class C module then install the same X class module and it will have different stats. In short all the X class modules of the same type have the exact same potential as the rest. If you have two of the same type doesn't matter which one you open it will have the same state as the other. The only thing that matters is the order in which it is opened.
It seems that the bottom line is that X-class mods have significantly lower minimum stats and only marginally higher stats compared to S-class mods. On top of that, you're not guaranteed as many stats as an S-class mod. You're basically giving up a lot of guaranteed stats for the slim chance to get something only slightly better. Now I see why people seem to stick to S-class mods. Thanks for the video.
I found some x class upgrades,,,,I seen a ship flying crazy I tought It was crashing but it landed an the guy got out then I thought it was a player but nope,,,he was selling x class goods...

Apparently they love me so they're always attacking me every trip to space I go
With the multitool scanner, it looks like you're missing one. My X class has stats for all three scans plus scan radius. Aka Fauna analysis = +10,852%, flora analysis = +9,946%, mineral analysis = +9,681% and scan radius of 47%. I haven't seen anything better than this yet for my scanner
Great video man, thanks!
Try installing a junk c class module first. It's based on the order you install it in. This should work with save reloading to get good x class.
@@zazethe6553 nope. I reloaded the save several times and installed the mods in different orders and the position they were when I installed them gave exactly the same stats. 99% sure they are predetermined bud
if you collect pugneum from ship owners on a space station and buy from the scrap dealer you can save the game and reload the save you just made and the scrap dealer and the ship owners reset so you can do it over and over
AMAZING VIDEO! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
that moment when you look for basically this video before you go to bed and it doesn't exist then you wake up and it does... just in time lol
This must have taken a lot of time to edit. Impressive.
I was just roaming a planet on foot looking for cobalt caves and all of a suden some pilot lands his ship in the middle of nowhere and when I approached him to trade he had 9 different X class module upgrades!
Awesome guide. Thank you kindly for all the effort and information you always share with us.
So I guess I missed it, does it border stack? So could you run 3 x class instead of 3 s class? I am looking for them but seems they have terrible chances for me 1 out of 9 venders may have a single x anything.
I just encountered some random landed ship and he sold almost every type of x class mod turns out its very rare even rarer right outside my base
Is there an updated version of the min/max stats for each type of module
Swish dude, major swishage for shizzle. One thing I'm curious about is if the X class seed is progressed the same way as standard tech, or if it is not linked to that internal seed? Peace for now dude!
Awesome guide. Incredibly helpful.
Awesome! glad it was helpful
Great info!
11:10 I got a 295 hyperdrive range but didn’t get warp cell efficiency :(
I feel sorry for you :(
Great job on the black market I always wondered what do they give and how much I don’t know if I should it’s like a gamble maybe a fun gamble making it easier or harder who knows what they will add next
If you guys want to buy a bunch of stuff from scrap dealer just buy what he has then save in your ship then reload and you can buy again
The scrap trader now ONLY takes 'TAINTED METAL'. The 'Frontiers' upgrade has ruined a lot of things. Tainted metal can only be found on a derelict freighter......... :(((
I remember once in a minor settlement I came across someone selling x class upgrades
I'm not sure what's been changed with the game updates but I have a x class movement upgrade with a Recharge rate of +40% vs the 30% max shown
ERR actually I have a defense system X class with 96% shield buff, it goes higher than the 95% you said
i have a 120%
Scrap dealer no longer deals in Pugnium they now deal EXCLUSIVLY it Tainted metal
Pugneum?? I never saw those dudes sell anythinf with that it was always tainted metal for me
May have been dumb luck, but most of the roaming black marketeers I've encountered landed soon after I claimed a new base.
I've actually had these roaming vendors show up on my main home world twice now.
I need help, modules dont show at the scrap vendor anymore. Can someone help?
first time playing the game still on my first planet and found an x hazard module 2's and 4' s just tried to find out about it and came across this vid first wow is all i can say
Yes max is 3 but it is the linear bonus that increases to a max of 6
Did you ever find a space station with X-class scatter blaster or X-class positron ejector mods for sale at the scrap dealer? Or did you only find them via the suspicious packages/buried caches
Very informative, as always.
You are a gentleman and a scholar
How do you look at the stats of your upgrades?
Dude, it's absolutely insane!!! I get about 40,000 u FOR EACH scan...
I love stacking the scanner, getting around 400,000 units per rare animal
I managed to roll a +61% on the scanner radius for the Analysis visor.
Excellent video!!
Excellent, thanks.
is it just me or bad RNG for the Defense Systems the highest I got for them were 34% shield strength, core health 33% I've seen other youtubers with 93% or 94% shield strength and 33% core health is it me or just bad luck
Most excellent video my good man 🙂
Ok, there is one thing he seems to have missed.
I got a 279 LY warp module yesterday in.ediatly put in my explorer that can do 3333 LY now
Usually when the wandering trader visits me its in pirate heavy galaxies
It seems that the bottom line is that X-class mods have significantly lower minimum stats and only marginally higher stats compared to S-class mods. On top of that, you're not guaranteed as many stats as an S-class mod. You're basically giving up a lot of guaranteed stats for the slim chance to get something only slightly better. Now I see why people seem to stick to S-class mods. Thanks for the video.
sight i wish the blaze javelin was just a little less pants only because i don't want to use the inventory space for ammo rofl
so these x class techs sound alot like rivens from warframe but are way easier to farm and the min/max stats aren't fixed to the dev's "balancing"
I found some x class upgrades,,,,I seen a ship flying crazy I tought It was crashing but it landed an the guy got out then I thought it was a player but nope,,,he was selling x class goods...
I think I have too many upgrades. Gonna need to check for videos on how many because I think I have some cancelling out others.
Will carrying and of these suspicious items cause sentinels to attack you?
