    I have watched numerous farming videos over the years so I have heard all the terminology before and had a general idea of how the planter worked, but I really enjoyed the deeper explanation of how everything worked together and why the tolerances were what they were. Thanks!

    Channels like this impress me more than the ones where they dump money just to do it. I’m at a sweet spot where everything is pretty new, but I’ll be farming with the same equipment for a long time. I’ll probably retool right before I retire for the kids. That’s a good 15 years down the road.

    I ran a 7000 12 row front fold from 2006 to present. Great planters. Mine had precision 20/20, row flow, Air Force, clean sweep, meters,wave vision sensors, in furrow fertilizer, 3x0x3 fertilizer, John blue fertilizer monitor with iPad, keetons, Mohawk closing wheels, kinze offset bolt on closing bkts, Martin floating row cleaners frame mounted. More additions than planter but does a great job in no till or strip till. Keep them sharp and mechanically updated and they will last forever.

    Money well spent, especially when you can get them at a good price. I updated something last year. This year was the seed monitors were completely rebuilt by Precision Agri Services. I have a 7000 and will be adding more down pressure to give me the option to no-till. We will have to see if it is enough.

      Add ballist to each row unit. We have added as much as 100# (1 suite-case weight) to each unit already when hard and dry clay.

      That is the plan but hopefully, I will not need to add any weight. We will see. Thanks for the info.

    Time spent in the shop on the planter is valuable. You get one shot at putting seed in the right way. What did you call the thing that replaced the master cylinder so you don’t have to keep rephasing the lift wheels.

    Anytime you update or modernize your planters it is money well spent. Your crop starts with putting it in the ground. With seed costs what they are you have to give every seed a chance at emergence. It costs too much to replant due to a planter screw up. Those are good planters. You can make lots of improvements on them like you guys have done. I have a neighbor who bought a new set of Deere 12 row planters last year. They cost more than I payed for my 100 acre farm when I bought it. While that was several years ago it is still a lot of money.

    Needham Ag has those closing spikie wheel bearings. How do like the VULCAN wire welder 👩‍🏭. Thanks men. Do I see R an K gauge wheel kits ??😳😳

    • @DylanJoyceFarms
      @DylanJoyceFarms  Před 2 lety

      Yes they are the RK kit. The vulcan welder has been pretty good to us so far. I hardly pull the stick welder out anymore.
