Another cool note: the colors behind the Stanley Cup years are the same color as the jersey they wore when they won the Cup. I don't know if it was intentional or if it just worked out to have black, white, and blue, but it's cool nonetheless.

I like it. Black for the Lightning just works more for me than their current style, it looks too similar to the Leafs.

I've been trying to think why this might be coming out so late in the season, and the only thing that comes to mind is that 2024 is the 20th anniversary of the first Stanley Cup in 2004.
Maybe but don’t forget their last third jersey in 2018-19 didn’t launch until February that season. So who knows?

I hate those kind of logos. Where you have an image inside a huge ring with writing on it. It detracts from the logo itself because its overshadowed by a roundel and wordmarks.

What do you think about the ‘20 Stanley Cup middle section where it’s grey instead of white? To me it doesn’t make any sense especially how they won it in white instead of grey/silver. Maybe have silver lightning bolts in between each cup year and that might do more justice? Hopefully they’ll make some t shirts based on the graphic!!!

Love black lightning jerseys
One of the nicest recently released jerseys I’ve seen! Sharp colors and contrasts, not overly cluttered or gaudy. I like it so far!
I’m not sure about those numbers though. I thought I remember the original numbers in an italicized handwritten-like font. Maybe I’m mistaken and that came later.
That did come later. The first few seasons was that block style.
I like everything about it EXCEPT putting "Hockey Club" that just sounds kinda lame.
The jersey is sick, however in the crest of the logo it says hockey club on it, which I personally don’t like. Im also wondering if the sparkling like blue is the same material as Vegas gold.
It’s the same material as every other lame Fanatics replica, unfortunately. Have to wait until we see the proper Adidas version to get all the real details.

I would love to see a Lightning jersey with some yellow on it! Like maybe replace white with a yellow, that way they stand out more, especially when they're playing Toronto.

Following on from my chat with you yesterday about the Winter Classic, that is an 'upscale' Fanatics .... the stitched shoulder patches and front patch being of much higher quality. Don't think we will see Adidas (although I hope we do) of this, I think the drip feed of Fanatics is beginning. Fine jersey, but not for $180 US.
Tampa always seems to be on the cusp of creating a great, almost iconic jersey (think Mighty Ducks of Anaheim original jerseys), then seems to fall short.
Tampa’s original jerseys were their best imo. All efforts since then just seem sort of bland and ‘safe’. There’s so many possibilities with a Lightning bolt as your logo. As another commenter pointed out, Tampa’s jersey colors are way too similar to the Leafs.

That adidas one was awful. I liked most of what adidas does,even the take on the reverse retro they did. But that third jersey was so dumb
It’s clean and I’m glad it’s black, but this seems very underwhelming. A brand as cool as the lightning should be a little more creative. Maybe not as busy as the storm jersey, but need to embrace more bolts in the striping

I don't know why Tampa ever moved away from black as their primary. The original name and numbers font was so 90's but so good, too bad it doesn't really match the giant shoulder patch they're using as a crest on this one.
Plus, if those are the old victory stripes... then that’s just one big armpit down the whole sleeve. 😅
I'm a Sabres fan, so I'm used to unfortunate armpit designs on our jerseys....lol

I like the jersey. I just don't know about the black behind the lightening. I hope they will put the stripes (and black) onto their primary uniforms. Much better than their plain black gradient stinker of a 3rd.
The fact that their blue is essentially Maple Leafs blue I think they need to add black back as a tertiary colour

I like the look of this jersey and using the shoulder patch is good, but i wonder what it would look like with the Silver/Gray lightning logo from the previous black jersey.
I know it's normal for people to prefer old designs in general-not that you’re necessarily saying that here-but surely we can all admit that original Lightning logo was pretty terrible. I mean for nostalgia’s sake, I’m glad they keep it on the 2004 Stanley Cup banner, but it was just bad design, even in the ’90s. Right? Or am I missing something? Why would we want to see it come back outside of a throwback jersey like the RRs?
@@icethetics Sorry, i meant the Black alt jersey logo with their current logo in silver, that they had, with the graphite gray on the sleeves, i guess they were going with a rain look? I agree with you the previous primary logos they had were not as clean looking as the current. Thanks for the work you do in bringing these logos and scoops on the upcoming uniform updates and changes.

I wish the shoulder logo from the old jerseys like 2:04 was the primary crest.
I’m not a big fan of the secondary logo. Fine with it as a shoulder patch, but it’s just… boring.
I always wanted to see that Florida/bolt patch on the front of a jersey too!
I think the lighting makes it look worse than it actually is. Personally I'm pleased with it. Need to see what they do for number and letter font, hoping that original number font + letter font thing is true.

I’ll forever feel the Lightning missed an opportunity at the start of the- go with a Honolulu/ lighter electric blue. It would help them pop visually on the ice, even when they have black sweaters. The blue is the same color code as the Leafs. Meh.

I don't actually think I like it so far. That logo on there feels a bit off. Nice they have a black jersey, but they could do better I think.
It’s probably the weird Fanatics crest application. It’ll look way better on the Adizero jersey. Do better, you say, but then offer no specific ideas? 🤔
@@icethetics haha, well I just think they could've used a better crest, and potentially had different striping (though for the striping, seeing better angles could change my mind perhaps). But my feeling initially would be to take the outer circle away from the logo (so no extra circle with writing) and make the lightning inner circle bigger. But I still think it would be an improvement over this full logo here to use their main logo instead, or even an old logo (like their original alternate logo where it doesn't say Tampa Bay).
I guess it also just makes me feel like it's their old Bolts third (which I mostly hated because it said Bolts, so at least this is better, but still wasn't crazy at all about the rest of the jersey)
This should just be Tampa's primary jersey, and the Leafs should definitely get rid of their black jersey, have 100+ years of retros to choose from that are way better.

I have my tickets for the Isles/Rangers game, got my flight and lodging sorted out and just think it's peculiar not to see any renderings for any of the teams yet. My friend blames Lou, I think it's probably to do with the supply chain and Adidas having one foot out the door. It's just a missed opportunity for Christmas, and would've been cool to see it drop during the Winter Classic.
And the All Star sets.

I will be very surprised if this is a new Third jersey. Why is it in stores before unveiling? Also I have seen Lightning jerseys on fans that players never wore. I think there was even one in the NHL online shop recently.
Yeah, not my first rodeo. Since you’re new here, I should point out I’m not going to report on a fashion jersey. Only what gets worn in games. I confirm with trusted sources who are in a position to know before I publish things like this. This particular store put the jersey on display early by mistake. Oops. Happens from time to time. I owe you an apology, it looks like this will be the new Lightning 3rd jersey, i said your video was fake or at least the pic of it on the rack. I guess i was kind of hoping this wouldnt be the Jersey as i was so looking forward to a black Jersey but i am not a fan. I will tell you why cos i know you like people to elaborate, my 1st issue are the laces. Adidas had said they had gone away from the lace design that was used by Reebok i cant remember their exact wording on why maybe it being more friendly around the neck i just dont like it. 2nd i dont like the front logo, i like it as the shoulder logo but this looks like the design of their practice jersey. I do like the victory stripes i really love the attention to detail of the collar with the years and color of uniform they won the stanley cups in. I too am a Lightning fan and had been looking forward to a black jersey but now i am sad 😢😂 i will be at one of the games that they will be wearing it so maybe it will look great in person and maybe on a rack doesnt do it justice. Sorry for the long winded explanation.

My family are saying I will like it in person so we will see. I have an idea - black jersey with black striping and black collar. Logo on the front will be black with black accents. Black letters on the back with some dark grey outlines for visibility. Black on black with black - it's what all NHL branding departments seem to secretly dream about.

It's just so boring. Tampa could have some of the best branding in the league if they didn't insist on going with this minimalist, corporate design aesthetic they switched to with their rebrand.

@@icethetics I see what you're saying for sure. I guess if I had to give some suggestions I would just say to return to what they had in the early '00s. I love the jerseys that 2004 team won the Cup in, and teams like Buffalo and Calgary have proven that sometimes all a successful rebrand is is a return to what they wore in the past.

NGL, the actual TBL jerseys are dogwater. As a Panthers fan, it really makes me sad that it's not the classic 1990s one, or even the late 2000s one, rather, it's a Maple Leafs wannabe design. They're extremely similar in design. Don't even get me started on the logo. Why, why does every NHL team need to rebrand their logo into some sort of minimalist, corporate crap? I guess even as "a fan of Tampa Bay's mortal enemy", I can say that this jersey looks cool, but nowhere as cool as the classic 1990s jersey. And it really looks like the alternate Maple Leafs jersey, so that's 3 jerseys based on the Leafs.
I expect some heavy slander for being "a Panthers fan", "but where 3 cups?" and "bum franchise" and all that, it's part of hockey chirping, but I feel I can just throw my 2 cents on the table. Wish that the Cats actually brought some cool alternate uniform to this season, cannot believe bros didn't cash in from that SCF.
