- Thanks for clicking on QuickTech.
In this video we show you how to change and adjust your airbrush’s needle packing using the screw drivers included with the Iwata Professional Maintenance Tools Set.
The Needle Packing Set (sometimes called a seal), is an important airbrush component as it prevents paint from traveling from the color cup into the airbrush body.
We include two sizes of Needle Packing Screw Drivers with the Maintenance Tools, so you can use them with any Iwata airbrush.
Why QuickTech? There’s no shortage of how-tos and tutorials on the internet but airbrushers are still searching for solutions to common problems. That’s why Iwata created the QuickTech Experience. Before disconnecting your airbrush from the air hose:
1. Make sure your compressor is off.
2. Then hold down the main lever to release any stored air.

You Have Got to be kidding with this tool kit ! A Hundred Dollars for 4 screwdrivers and plier. thats crazy!
No it’s not. It’s specific machining you are paying for that allow you to remove parts correctly without damaging them. It’s better to have the right tools than to have to replace an airbrush because you used the wrong tool and broke it.
I just got this set and it’s amazing.
You won’t find specific tools like this in a hardware store.
I have an HP-C and the needle packing seems to be a rubber o-ring, is it the same procedure for an HP-C as the one shown in the video above? Also, is the screw driver only offered in the kit? I don't need all the other tools and kit is kind of pricey.
It is the same procedure for that model. If you have any issues please reach out to us at iwata.support@iwata-medea.com. At this time the screwdrivers are only offered as part of the CL500 Maintenance Kit.
Good day. Are these tools exclusive for Iwata airbrushes only? Can these be used for other brands?
The soft jaw pliers will definitely work for other brands. The screw drivers and air valve guide were designed to work with Iwata models so we cannot guarantee that they will fit other brands.
We include two sizes so there is a good chance it may be compatible.
Which needle packing screwdriver should I use for an Iwata HP-CS? Is it the 1.2mm or 1.4mm screwdriver thats included in the maintenance kit?
Hello! The 1.4mm needle packing screwdriver works for Iwata Eclipse HP-CS airbrush. To see a full listing of models go to www.iwata-airbrush.com/professional-airbrush-maintenance-tools.html?list=Search%20Listing
Thanks for this video I've been wondering since I got my brush how the needle is sealed. How long between replacing packings is typical? I'd figure several years is normal life.
Wondering where to get that screwdriver lol
Thank you for watching the video! To answer your question- unless an airbrush is soaked in solvents (which we do not recommend) it is unlikely the needle packing will need to be replaced. It is more common that users will want to adjust the packing for more or less tension in the movement of the needle and these screw drivers are the perfect tools to make those adjustments.
@@Makross_82 These are sold as part of our Professional Maintenance Tool set www.iwata-airbrush.com/professional-airbrush-maintenance-tools.html
Do all HP-CS have the needle sealing ring as mine does not appear to have it were my HP-C plus does?
Hello, There may be many differences among various models. See a full parts break out for HP-CS in the user manual here chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/www.iwata-airbrush.com/mm5/graphics/00000001/ECL101-IM.pdf
Hi, if I buy a neo or eclipse could I use Universal needles or nozzles? or does it have to be from IWATA? I live in a place where I can't find replacement parts online.
There is no universal sizing among airbrushes. Needles and nozzles have different lengths, tapers and diameters and impact performance of the individual brush. For this reason, we recommend only using the recommended replacement parts specifically for the brand and model of the brush or performance may be impacted.
@@iwatamedea1 thank you for the information and reply. By the way bought an iwata eclipse, best descion I ever made!
I have a Iwata HP-CH and i keep having paint get in the trigger i just bought the brush and changed the needle form a .3 to.2 changed the nozzle and the needle but wasn't sure if i need a new needle packing set or not? Plz help :(
Yes, you will want to change to the smaller packing size part I1257. Give us a call or email if you need further assistance! www.iwata-airbrush.com/blog/contact-us/
Does the Iwata NEO have replaceable needle packings?
Yes it does. You can find the part numbers here on our Parts Finder Tool www.iwata-airbrush.com/airbrush-parts-finder.html#!#selected_model=NEO&selected_model_number=CN
@@iwatamedea1 Thanks for the info.
Hi there, with me the teflon part of that nut has not come out, only the brass. The teflon seems to be stuck in the airbrush and the needle will not move through it properly anymore. Any idea what i can do?
Hello, you don't mention what iwata model you have and that is relevant as different models have different internals. On our website we have a form for submitting a technical question. In the form you will need to provide the model (engraved on the side of the brush) and year of purchase. Please take some good pictures that show what's going on and upload those to the form. This will help us give useful suggestions. Click this link to the form, scroll down to a fillable section. www.iwata-airbrush.com/blog/troubleshooting/
I cannot get the packing screw out its like it won't turn. Is there any other way to get it out
Usually they come out easily but it seems there's always an exception. Reach out to our tech department at support.iwata-medea.com
Unfortunately, the expensive maintenance kit does NOT include a needle packing screwdriver that fits the HP-B (not Plus). So now my Iwata airbrush (HP-B) sits in pieces as no similar tool fits. Very disappointed.
