In this clip, Bert Kreischer opened up about Oliver Stone optioning the rights for a movie on his life story after Rolling Stone did a write-up about him being the biggest party animal at the time. The movie never came to fruition, and Bert's team felt that his story had been turned into "Van Wilder," and they wanted to sue. Bert decided against suing at the advice from his then-manager, which he explained ended up being a great decision. He then explained how he started performing shirtless, which you can hear about in full above.

The fact that Bert decided to NOT sue over the Van Wilder story is exactly what kind of guy he is. How many of us regular joe’s would have begged for an opportunity like that. The similarity’s in Van Wilder vs Berts real life story accord to the Rolling Stone article are very striking.
Other than "guy stays in college for a long time and parties alot" there really isn't many similarities at all.
There is no doubt the article inspired the movie but Bert's life is nothing like Van Wilders.

Bert was a fucking nobody then so I assume lower end money. Also, the only similarity between Bert and Van Wilder is a guy who stayed on college years longer than he should have and liked to party. As much as this may sound true, it’s not. My dad is the writer and creator of the original Van Wilder. At the time, he and his writing partner had no idea who Bert was. The concept of the story was based on one of my dad’s brothers in his fraternity nicknamed Scooby who stayed in college for 7 years at CSUN
I knew a half dozen “Van Wilders” at least. I knew a guy that was in from 89 to 2003 on the same degree. He loved partying and the ladies. I myself did a respectable 5 1/2, dual major so I wouldn’t feel like such a scum bag, and would lay those vagabond experiences up against anyone. Thank God we didn’t have cell phones.
It was actually written about me! 7 years at a junior college! First name basis with all the admissions staff. Partook in a partay or a hundred, cant recall.

Van Wilder SUCKED, it was promoted as the next Animal House, not even close. The joke with the bulldogs balls , WAAAAAAY to over the top and seemed like the writers were trying too hard for laughs . I give it a half star.

There's proof that it's mostly true. His classmates have verified it's validity and maybe a couple of them would be willing to lie for him, but if it was bullshit it would 100% have come out by now.
Just because nothing like that has happened to you doesn't mean it's bullshit. Im sure you have stories you could tell that a lot of people would think were fake. And the same applies to me or anyone else. Also, c'mon, he was named the #1 party animal in America. They didn't just pick some random guy to give that title too. He was a wild dude in college. There are other stories involving him that are equally as insane that people tell all the time.
I was skeptical at first too, but after seeing pictures, seeing his classmates validate the story, and also hearing stories about other people who were in Moscow around the same time... it's really not hard to believe. His story is actually pretty tame in comparison to a lot of other shit that went down around that time in Russia.
