One of the best memories of my life, I was meeting my girlfriend on a snowy winter’s night, and she was walking out to me across the street from her house as I was trudging through the snow-buried sidewalk.
I can just remember seeing her coming to meet me under the orange glow of the street lamps with the snow falling all around us, and she looked like an angel, complete with an orange glowing halo above her. I’ll never forget that, because for a moment time went still and I could’ve died then and there and I would’ve been happy
This is everything.... if only we could have seen this through your eyes and heart.

from 2:29 to 3:11 it's one of the best musical experiences i've ever had. it's like a terrence mallick or a tarkovsky movie or a really powerful and glorious epiphany. the world becomes smaller, life is an rich and enormous existence and yet all things become much simpler, and everything is at hand's reach. i've come to love pretty much all of beach house's songs but this particular section, i will carry it to my last day, i'm certain.

Oh my God Terrence malick is my favorite director followed by Tarkovsky and Beach House is my favorite band! so happy to see other people relating the aesthetics between all these artists! That line is also my favorite part of the song. I think it could be interpreted differently from person to person but I see it as meaning a rising out of the state of depression and growing from it and becoming a more realized person.

This song is about two girls who were crushed by a derailing train in 2012. They were sitting on a bridge, with their legs hanging over the street below, and shortly before the train arrived one of them posted a picture of it to Twitter with the caption “levitating”. Knowing that context makes it even sadder.
I never knew about this. It sounds sad and dark.
I just found the news stories about that accident. It happened in Maryland, and the girls were both 19-year-old university students. Really sad.

A friend of mine lost his wife due to a violent incident that ocurred in his house when he wasn't around. She was 7 weeks pregnant. After some time, he talked to me about a recurring dream he was having; near his old house was a wooden area where he carved their initials in a big old tree a few years ago. In his dream, his wife (with a very terrifying appearance) was trying to coax him to follow her through the wood, until arriving to the previous mentioned tree. There, she would stand in front of him, but her eyes and face were different; kind of like the eyes of "the exorcist's demon" -who later I would know as Pazuzu-. Her face was gaunt, gray and with dirt, all of this according to his own words. Then, she walked backwards into the tree as she was trying to draw him towards too. I remember he said how he could feel the drowning sensation as if you were hit in the chest by a car at 160 km/h. It was a haunting experience; both for him (who was reliving the moment while he was telling me) and for me (as I can still remember perfectly the moment after, when this song came up, that he told me that it was one of his favorites as a way to change the subject).
He committed suicide 4 days later. That was the last time that I saw him alive. I usually skip this song because of this, even though I still add it in every single playlist that I make. Today, while I was preparing my breakfast, I was listening to one of those playlists when this song started playing. I couldn't change it because I was kneading dough. I started to feel a little uneasy but I did nothing. Now, after 2 years, I can't stop listening to it on loop.

I'm with you dude. I don't understand where the evil in this world comes from. I was abused as a child, but I would not ever hurt anyone, especially a woman or a child. I would give my live to protect women and children that I do not even know. The pain some people are forced to go through I can never wrap my fingers around. The people who commit those crimes are incapable of appreciating this movie that we are all miraculously in. We all need to respect and love each other.

At 3:11 begins the best part, I almost can feel how my feet start to leave the ground slowly, floating, levitating and feeling surrounded by an ethereal peace. Then I can listen to angel's voices singing "there's a place I want to take you...". I keep levitating with my eyes closed, almost crying until I reach the opened doors of heaven at 5:30

The song talks about an accident that occurred in Ellicott City, near Baltimore in August 2012. Two 19-year-old girls, Elizabeth and Rose, apparently known to Alex Scally, were crushed by coal from a train that derailed just in time. the bridge where the girls were sitting hanging out during midnight. It was a disaster. The girls were found under the carbon rubble in the same place where they were already lifeless, the rubble took weeks to be removed. During a time when my depression was at its absolute worst, I remember going on long walks around the outskirts of town at the same time every night, just as the sun was setting. I would always listen to music and I found this song in particular so therapeutic, just something about listening to this ethereal magic while walking through random forests and fields, and watching the sunset in a state of complete isolation made me feel so free. I’m so thankful I stumbled upon depression cherry, as usually I would stay away from modern pop (if you can call it that) but it instantly reminded me of bands like Slowdive and My Bloody Valentine, even certain material by Smashing Pumpkins. It’s amazing the impact good music like this can have on our lives.

Remember listening to this while going back home from my GF, as we are in a distant relationship. Remember crying to this song and realising how much I love her and that it's a true, pure feeling, I felt sad to leave her again, but at the same time I was happy to finally find that Other Half and to have serious plans about that one person. I was smilling and tears just wouldn't stop dripping... Next time we were together I played this song in our room, we held our hands in a slow dance-like move. It felt like... levitation.
