    You're SO good at explaining things. Thank you for these videos! As someone who's just getting back into riding as an adult, they've been so helpful. I was always taught to use a crop on the inside shoulder. Is that another appropriate use, or do you think I was taught wrong?

    • @jazmineszlari414
      @jazmineszlari414 Před rokem

      I was taught the same the whip should be inside but I think in every place its different somewhere you have to rise on the outside leg when trotting and somewhere you must have your whip on the outside

    Hey i need your help badly. I m Kamna from India. I ride horse but my height us short. I m 5'1 . I think that's a major drawback because my feet never stay in stirrup. It always come off when I change from canter to trott. Moreover I can't understand the hip movement in sitting trot. My instructor is very strict I don't want to be embarrassed daily. Please help 🙏

    • @jordanrumrill5022
      @jordanrumrill5022 Před 4 lety +3

      Hey! If your feet don’t stay in the stirrups you might want to fix the stirrup length to one that suits you’re legs better. Also, really try and keep your heels down (especially with canter to trot and trot to canter transitions), and that will really help keep your leg in the stirrup. I used to struggle a lot with the sitting trot, I used to bounce around a bunch but my trainer always says to sit back in the saddle, almost on my tailbone and that helps keep me from bouncing. You should also stay nice and relaxed so you’re not tensing up because that leads to bouncing. I think of it like an inflated and deflated basketball: when it’s tight and inflated, it bounces, when it’s flat and deflated, it doesn’t bounce. So make your glutes like a deflated basketball, relax and you won’t bounce and it will be much much easier to move your hips with the horse. Once last thing, keep your heels as far down as they can go because this keeps you anchored in the saddle. Sorry this is so long but I hope it helped😂😁

      @@jordanrumrill5022 Ok one more question. What can we do if your horse runs very fast and getsbout of control. I tried to remain on saddle and played with bit but it didn't work out. What should we do in these situation

    • @jordanrumrill5022
      @jordanrumrill5022 Před 4 lety +2

      Kamna Malik definitely keep your heels down. Like I said before it really helps keep you anchored in the saddle. Also, sit back deep in the saddle because the more you’re leaning forward the more it encourages your horse to go faster. Another good thing is to do lots of half halts. Just pull the reins and then release the pressure, pull then release, pull then release over and over until your horse slows down and stays slow. I’ve also found it very helpful to talk to your horse. Say things like “woah” and “easy” in a calm voice and that can help in slowing them down. Lastly, stay relaxed and calm because your horse can feel when your tense and nervous which in turn makes them nervous which can then lead to them taking off and being hard to slow down and stop. I’m happy to give more tips if you need them:)

    • @horseconfused
      @horseconfused Před rokem

      I feel the same, I refuse to use the whip most of the time because I see that even grazing my horses hairs with it it will get annoyed, but on some horses they’re fine I suppose, but if you’re scared of hurting it, remember That it is only a tap on the shoulder or butt, it is not in any way painful it is a communication signal to tell them what you’re trying to do, it helps you communicate properly with the horse, not hit it or make it scared
