I came and stuck around here because your videos hit a very good balance of information and brevity. You clearly are both very passionate, wanting to get some interesting information across, but also clearly value my time, and must take considerable effort to keep your videos tight or have it in you naturally from all your years of work in journalism. I think your recipe videos are a great example of this, most other outlets would take twice or so as long to impart the same or less information that is actually useful and interesting to me. Since when I assume your shift to semi retirement started (I don't fully know when it actually was) this hasn't really changed, and if anything I greatly appreciate your intense nerdiness and enthusiasm about stuff like the aquariums and the garden net on a pole. Nerdiness in the positive sense, knowledgeable and passionate about something, which most everyone is about something. I hope to see more of it!
I was listening only for the second half and thought he was calling me out, “hey where are you going?” when I went to stop video after ad started. I stayed and watched out of obligation haha. Love your vids! Glad you know what you want and need!
I've come to realize that I'm basically just into a bunch of stuff you are also into, plus I really respect your view on a lot of things; as such, I'll probably watch your video on any topic. I hope you find that pleasant rather than pressuring. Enjoy your semi-retirement!
Good for you Adam! I searched you out because I hadn't seen you in a while and something I was watching had a flash of one of your videos, so I went to look. Now I know why I don't see you but you had mentioned that about a year ago. I'm surprised at how fast the algorithm abstained you from my feed and I now see all the videos I missed!
Happy you're in such a healthy place. 😊 I do really miss the podcast, and I hope some of the other projects you're taking on will involve more of you getting random "journalistic" thoughts out into the world.
Adam, as a somewhat unmanaged-declining father about your age with 3 young sons, I wonder if the greatest good (should you happen to be looking for it) could be found in "CZcams/internet accessibilizing" psychological well-being for your mostly young male audience the way you did for cooking recipes. I have seen a few of your videos trending that way, most notably with your psychologist brother. I wonder if giving younger men or Gen X-ennial fathers like myself "the language" for finding their own psychological equilibrium wouldn't feel like a fulfilling use of your internet pulpit. Maybe that could look like you broadcasting a therapy session (that does sound crazy though), or talking about the vulnerabilities of being a young father and what that means vis a vis that we may be more painfully aware of what we are passing on to our sons psychologically that our fathers may not have been considering passing on to us (generational trauma and all that). I think giving young men a framework to seek therapy or modeling how non-threatening it can be might be a very valuable use of your abundant reach. Not to get too rambly, but to quote you, "anyway, you get the point". Keep doing what you do brother!
I like how real that you get to be when you’re not searching for new things. You’re good with where you’re at. Also I like monospaced fonts, serifs semi-preferred but monospacing more important
I wouldn’t necessarily call this semi-retirement as much as no longer keeping on the grind. No need to constantly try to make money, just using your platform for the things you want.

You've been so kind to share your personal growth with us, and while I used to really jam to your science-y deep dive videos, the healthiness and positivity you've been sharing lately has been a real balm.
I so want to see you make more videos about non-food science stuff! I came here originally for the food science, but I do really want to hear about your garden and fish tanks. Good blessings on semi-retirement.
Hey Adam! Fun video format and glad you got to straighten things out concerning your semi-retirement. Long term watcher & subscriber here from Quebec, Canada. All the way back from your cookie video I think! I'd love to see you make a video on Poutine. You've been really specific about cheese in the past and cheese curds are such a huge part of what makes a great Poutine. Thought this would be a topic you would enjoy diving deeper into and maybe try making some of your own - provided you can procure the right cheese or even make it yourself!

Honestly your chanel was the one to really awaken my view on cooking being manageable You've always had one focus "you choose what you want, but be informed, and there is an easier route" To be honest I'm quite happy with the amount of things you've left us with, I can see myself doing a bunch of experiments like you to discover what weird things I'm into And I've always liked your personality too, it was a selling point and would probably continue to be that, the semi retirement is such an adam regusia coded move that this may be one of the only instances I would want to tip 😂😂 (we don't have a tipping culture here, usually giving extra money means that you consider that person family and wants them to do well) Best regards and hope you'll experience many neat things
I'm reminded of the story about George Clooney after he did Batman Forever he went to his accountant and was told that if he never worked another day in his life he would be fine so from that point onward George only took on projects that he was passionate about and no longer looked for the big pay day at the cost of his own happiness.
I forget if it has a name, but there’s an idea (that I believe in) that whether you have a lot of work or a little, that work will always fill the time that you have. Have you found this in your semi-retirement?
Keep it up, Adam! You are our uncle from the internet, who brings a bit of brightness into our lives then and now! And man 1012 pull-ups are amazing (I chuckled, thank you!). You do you! ...and we'll just go with it! stay healthy!
I love the video in hearing your perspective. I have to say I was a bit shocked about the podcast going away. It seemed at the time you started it as a passion project. I prefer the videos so nothing's changed for me, just surprised I guess.
Hey Adam, you do whatever you want. I feel you. My company loaded a bunch of BS projects on us this year for no needed reason. My supervisor said, "I know it's more work, but we can all grow. And we all want to grow and improve, right?" No! I don't. I'm 53 and been doing the same job, damned well I might ad, for 15 years. I don't need to grow! I just need to maintain. I'll be quitting this job shortly, I'm sure. Enjoy your semi-retirement. You're my kinda people. And I'll still stick around to see your one video a week. I've learned so much from you over the years.
I was actually so used to content creators making things sporadically that it didn't occur to me that your podcast had stopped until you said it. The only thing I thought was, "Huh. He sure is doing a lot of research on that next podcast episode."
I'm not as interested in your newer content, and that's okay. Nothing is going to take away from the fact that you're the reason I discovered cooking as one of my favorite hobbies, saved hundreds of dollars on food costs (so far), and have been better able to maintain a healthy weight and dietary balance. So thanks, Adam. You've done more than enough.
The overly-casual vlog style camera combined with Adam's usual choreographed smooth flowing speech is such an odd change of pace that I genuinely love.

Man I thought that dealing with mortality was easy when I was 12, the thing is, it was easy because I didnt even start living yet there, I had not even started to build my own life, now in my early twenties I see not only what I have, what I want to get, and what I will probably get, but also what I will loose once I start to approach the end of my life and, it becomes hard, hard to let go, basically what I see is adam accepting this and slowly letting go, and I congratulate you, on this side where Im just starting to grow I imagine what it would feel to let things go too and I feel like it will be hard, but I guess with the years I will prepare myself mentally and Im glad I can see people wiser and older than deal with that reality in real time, I think it will make it easier when my time to let go arrives
I still miss your podcast though... It was my absolute favorite. And I thought you did it because you enjoyed it, because the money generated should be much less than the money you're than make. I really hope you decide to create more episodes, on the schedule that satisfies you most. Enjoy life, my man. You earned it!
As always, I enjoy your perspective and how clearly you can articulate yourself and the thoughts you have. But you also don't owe anyone an explanation, just do you Adam :))
Personally, I'm happy for you. Good to see someone who worked hard actually get to relax after a while. While I've missed the podcasts and more frequent videos, I still appreciate the weekly-ish updates whether it's about plants or cooking or fish. This past week I've made the broccoli pasta from the last video twice already so I'm definitely still getting a lot out of the Adam Regusea channel, which is a lot more than I can say for other food channels that have chosen the path of perpetual growth...
I'd love it if you did more videos/podcasts on non cooking-related topics. My friends and I really love your videos/pods on music, specially the metallica one!
Adam. Thank you so much for every single video and word you have ever provided for us. I truely feel like you are one of the greatest CZcamsrs, not by veiw count but by morality, awareness, and honesty. I very much look up to and admire you . I have a huge respect for the way you have handled your CZcams channel lately, for basically exactly what you explain in this video. One of this biggest problems with our world is how people are able to collect and hoard insanely massive amounts of resources(aka money) that they have absolutely no need or legitimate use for other then to collect more resources that they do not need, while others are suffering because they genuinely need those resources. The way you view your retirement is how I wish the rest of the world would view it as well, you have earned pretty much everything you need to get by and be happy living a life that makes you happy without hurting others in the process. For you to continue working towards “growth” would just be an absurd and immoral hoarding of resources that you have no use for, instead you are doing the moral thing, you have taken what you need, and now your channels only purpose/goal is to express yourself, not to maximize clicks and views to maximize your own income that you have no need for. People like Mr BEAST and graham Stephen could learn a thing or too from you and our world would be much better off for it. I hope to one day be half the person you are Adam, thank you for everything you’ve taught me and I can’t wait to see where your channel goes(topic/content wise not number of views)now that it is driven truly by your joy, passion, and curiosity.
I'm just in my mid twenties, but I see this a lot with my uncle's and dad. Somehow, mostly my male family members. They are in their 50/60ies and are now really focussing on how to enjoy their time instead of making life easier/more pleasant over the long time (either monetary or physically)

I was terrified that you were on the toilet for a moment there in the acupuncture scene.
I’ve been watching from the start and I just want to say, I greatly enjoy your content in the semi-retired phase
Tis the season of CZcamsr retirement 😅 glad you're still here
I was listening only for the second half and thought he was calling me out, “hey where are you going?” when I went to stop video after ad started. I stayed and watched out of obligation haha. Love your vids! Glad you know what you want and need!
Thanks for clarifying.
I was a bit confused.
Adam, i really do miss the more frequent uploads but I am glad you are getting a break!
Adam why he pulls himself up and not the bar.
Adam Ragusea's Retired is the name of my Bauhaus cover band, but we only play about twice a week.
I've come to realize that I'm basically just into a bunch of stuff you are also into, plus I really respect your view on a lot of things; as such, I'll probably watch your video on any topic. I hope you find that pleasant rather than pressuring. Enjoy your semi-retirement!
Like I've said about and to other Channels, I'm here for the way you tell the "story" if it's something about something I enjoy it's a plus.
I do really miss the podcast, and I hope some of the other projects you're taking on will involve more of you getting random "journalistic" thoughts out into the world.
You really got me with that "where are you going this is the ad". Perfect timing
what a legend!!!
your style of narration is really something special.
Semi-Retired Adam be lookin hella buff
I hope that people don't misinterpret, "managing a state of controlled decline.", in the same way they did about the retirement thing.
Love your approach, Adam. So glad you're taking for time for yourself and your family and that you're making content that you want to make ❤
I wouldn’t necessarily call this semi-retirement as much as no longer keeping on the grind. No need to constantly try to make money, just using your platform for the things you want.
Love you Adam. I hope things get better/continue to go well. I appreciate the hours of entertainment you have provided me over the years.
I live between Maryville and Knoxville so I'm in your neck of the woods. Don't go anywhere. We love you!
cheers mate. good for you! love your content for a long time and this natural evolution is wonderful.
You're living the dream, Adam! My dream, anyways, and I'm grateful that you're sharing how the process is working for you.
I've loved the managed decline content and am excited to see how it continues.
A video a week is more than enough thanks the content is great I also wish I could find time for doctors appointments maybe when my kids get a bit older
YES! congrats Adam, this has been a fantastic explanation of the human side of content creation. Perhaps you could also share/shout out content creators, be it writers or bloggers that inspired you to make the theme for the next videos? I'm looking to grow my knowledge about cooking and nutrition hence the ask. cheers!
This is your new best video as far as i’m concerned. More people need to get this way of life. Nice to hear 😊. Also keep with the acupuncture, drop the cupping 😋 there’s evidence of harm in it, and yes not much insight on the other so whatever you do you!
Growing includes stepping back
To every thing there is a season...
Adam, love you and your videos, whatever you decide to do. So glad to see you with such a healthy outlook on things, as an empathic person I could feel the pain you were in and was so concerned.
Good on you. Hope you enjoy your life more. I do Hope you start the podcast back up though. I loved it. Even if it's only every couple of weeks.
Ever since i saw your macaron video I've loved your content even the obscure histories of pork eating or smoking foods its a little sad seeing less of it but i can always count on you to bring us interesting videos and ideas. Genuinely you are one of the people i look up to. ✨✨
Love your channel. I'll probably still keep watching even if you fully stop uploading, maybe rewatch some of your podcasts.
Glad to see you are doing stuff you care about and taking care of yourself :)
The placebo effect works better when the sham treatment is more unpleasant and invasive. Fake surgery works better than saline injections, which work better than big sugar pills, which work better than small sugar pills. If nothing else, acupuncture is probably a great way of activating a ton of placebo effect.
And the evidence is that "nothing else" is exactly right, or as close to right as we have for anything moderately well-studied.
Thats a lot of words for saying you're lazy
Been reading up on your FIRE. Good for you.
You. Are. Amazing.
Thank you!
I see Adam has managed to have his shirt off again.
Had a great time running errands with you today
I enjoy this mindset and i look forward to more interesting and out there videos that are not bound by the need for growth
Mate, you'd said you'd had success, which gave you unexpected financial security, and were going to be laying off the treadmill, and make more occasional stuff about crabs and aquaponics etc. Bloody brilliant. As you've always said, you do you. Always look forward to your vids on whatever they're about. Bloody good for you 👍
I'm very happy that you can do this Adam, do as many videos as you want they are always a pleasure to watch!
Honestly your chanel was the one to really awaken my view on cooking being manageable
You've always had one focus "you choose what you want, but be informed, and there is an easier route"
To be honest I'm quite happy with the amount of things you've left us with, I can see myself doing a bunch of experiments like you to discover what weird things I'm into
And I've always liked your personality too, it was a selling point and would probably continue to be that, the semi retirement is such an adam regusia coded move that this may be one of the only instances I would want to tip 😂😂 (we don't have a tipping culture here, usually giving extra money means that you consider that person family and wants them to do well)
Best regards and hope you'll experience many neat things
You're looking great these days Adam! :) I hope your semi-retirement keeps treating you well!
Thank you Adam, I think this is such an important message with the modern media/economic landscape
It is the speaker that introduces ambiguity, not the listener.
Well that’s getting saved to eloquently remind myself of my life goal going forward.
This is very much a "The Format" kind of video. John Greene would be proud.
I was actually so used to content creators making things sporadically that it didn't occur to me that your podcast had stopped until you said it. The only thing I thought was, "Huh. He sure is doing a lot of research on that next podcast episode."
Adam thanks for sharing, your honesty, and whishing you the best for however life takes you. 🙂😎❤
Big John Green vibes on this video. Can't wait for the eventual collab, where I learn about aquaculture and how 1.3M people die every year from a preventable disease (tuberculosis)
You have achieved my dream. One day i wish to be successful enough to not care about growing. Good work, always loved your videos.
I continue to admire you for your decision to semi-retire, and my wife and I look forward to watching many fun things that you do in semi-retirement!
I still miss your podcast though... It was my absolute favorite.
And I thought you did it because you enjoyed it, because the money generated should be much less than the money you're than make.
I really hope you decide to create more episodes, on the schedule that satisfies you most.
Enjoy life, my man. You earned it!
This video made me chuckle, Adam wants to be indifferent but he can't.
I thought it was pretty clear about “I’m not going to upload as much”
But hey that’s just me.
You've positively influenced my life in many ways, and I'm happy that we, as a group, are so able to return the favour.
I'm just in my mid twenties, but I see this a lot with my uncle's and dad. Somehow, mostly my male family members. They are in their 50/60ies and are now really focussing on how to enjoy their time instead of making life easier/more pleasant over the long time (either monetary or physically)
