      If it was such a big thing, why are nations happy to play in a tournament held in Qatar?
      Players from your club are going over there and are being paid for it. Yet how many have spoken out against Qatar?
      How many psg players have spoken out about Qatar?
      If its OK for all of them to go and make money, why shouldn't Beckham?

    The response to Beck's red card in 1998 is honestly one of England's darkest moments in our football history. I truly believe that. Yes I'm a Utd fan and yes Becks was a childhood hero but regardless of who you support, you can't hide from the fact as a nation, we let ourselves down terribly in that moment. To have the career he had, to go and do the things he did, he's an England legend and we can't ever allow what happened, to happen again.

    • @temporaryuseraccount0012
      @temporaryuseraccount0012 Před rokem +4

      He did arguably cost England that game (and therefore the tournament) with that totally unnecessary act of petulance. So, there's also that. Did some England fans (who weren't also Man United apologists) go too far in his condemnation? No doubt. However, Becks has never really been very apologetic about what he did to get that red card.
      Yes, he now admits that he regrets getting the card. But, he should have come forward straight away after England's exit from the tournament and publicly apologised for having being so reckless and he would probably have earned more forgiveness from a lot more of the public, much sooner.
      For the record, I wasn't one of those who condemned him afterwards. I just thought he was a bloody idiot for reacting the way he did in that moment. But I also thought he should have made more effort to genuinely apologise to the fans, and could understand the emotions of others, since he didn't take responsibility and apologise for his actions.

      If the English FA, UEFA, FIFA and the UK government aren't condemning Qatar either then it seems the footballing world is happy to ignore the obvious problems. Same as in Brazil and South Africa and Russia.
      Sad but true. What's even worse is that I know I'm still likely to watch an awful lot of the matches and in the moment forget all the suffering that is going around it.

      So genuine that he campaigns for UNICEF yet takes millions to keep his gob shut on the ethical issues surrounding qatar. He's either thick in the head or immoral, and I wouldn't count out the prior.

    I love the overlap,Carra episode up there as the best (and I’m a United fan) but this is a case of not really reading the room! (Basically the final 5 minutes)

    The not winning with England question is always interesting but think of this.
    The Brazil, French, German, Italian and Spanish, Argentinian teams between 1998-2006 were full of world class players our players were good but just think of the legends on the international stage in that period

    Beckham never got past the quarter finals in five tournaments. Hardly a legend. Now, in our last two tournaments we’ve got to a semi and a final.

      He is a legend. But you’re right that he didn’t get far enough in competitions for England. None of that ‘golden generation’ did. What a waste of time they all were. I know people hate Southgate’s reign, but I’d take Semi finals and finals over getting knocked out in the group stage or lose to Iceland any day.
