- The Rodecaster Pro II & Duo each have VESA mounts which open up a lot of awesome options for adding a ton of flexibility into your setup. This video shows how I’ve been using the super long Vivo VESA arm with my Rodecaster Pro II.

Episode 385: Elevate Your Audio (Literally) - Krátké a kreslené filmy
My favourite thing about your videos is the subtle smugness of nailing a terrible pun, knowing that there's a collective groan on the other side
😁 The real joke is how bad the jokes are
I ended up using an Elgato Low Profile Mic Arm and then replaced the ball to 1/4” screw at the end with a ball to vesa mount. Lets me adjust the height easily and has good cable management.
Tom, it was mostly because of you i bought pro2. Havent regretted a bit. I must tell you how much i like when you do these videos on home studio/ amateur studio topics. Keep up the good work. Thanks
Happy to hear it! I love the "home studio" world, so I'm always happy to dive into it. It's a fun, never-ending journey 😁
Ordered it to give it a try!! Thanks Tom
Nice! Hope you have lots of fun!
It's a great idea. What's funny is I've already done this. I had a dual monitor mount from Walmart (brand Onn if interested) I was no longer using that I took one arm off and attached it to my Rodecaster Duo. I'm telling you....Rode and Elgato are leading the way for content creators and audio creators. Granted yes it is stuck at one height but I have it at the height I want it to be at.
I bought the RCPII when it came out based on your recommendation. I love it...but I still don't quite understand its full functionality. Please do a video explaining how to use it. I keep coming back to your channel looking for that video. It would be amazing if you could show your DAW workflow too. Thanks for everything you do for the community!
I asked you about this the other day, was shocked to see a video on it aha.
Thanks Tom! :)
Big fan of the vesa mount option for the Rodecaster Pro II. This feature helped me to make the decision to upgrade to the RCP II. I use the Ergotron LX arm. It is overkill for this application, but I like that it moves smoothly. I also like that the arms for my displays are also made by Ergotron.
I have to admit I don't frequently move the RCP II because the cables are pretty close to the length I need where the RCP II is normally position -- I guess this is the balance between flexibility and cleaner cable management. But having the RCP II off the surface makes cleaning the surface easier.
Have a very happy new year!
Happy New Year to you too!
I definitely didn't care about the VESA option when the RCP2 was first announced, but once I tried it I could never go back.
This video elevates!! 🙌🙌
I like to take things to new heights.
Great walkthrough, I'm using a very similar arm but in the same way as in your example. Happy Holidays to Heather & yourself
Happy holidays!
The least we can say, is that it looks nice
If you have a gas spring monitor arm that allows for vertical adjustment, you might find that the Rodecaster Duo is too light to hold enough tension to keep the arm in place. It wants to spring up even if it's as loose as it can be. That's something I'd keep in mind if shopping for an arm for the Rodecaster. An arm like yours which can be raised or lowered on a post rather than gas spring tension is probably the way to go
I've struggled with those too! It can be tough to get the weight balanced well, but there's definitely something extra satisfying about the gas spring movement 😁
Genius idea to use a hacksaw to make the post shorter! I can see a few use cases for that! I love how they added the VESA mount to the RCP series. I wish they also had it for the Streamer X although I use the threaded mount for that! And I also wish they kept the threaded mount on the RCP Duo. That was a weird omission.
Yeah I was nervous at first, but it's been great! The hacksaw cut through it in just a few minutes.
Happy New Year!!!
Happy new year!!
The VESA mount is missing from my Vocaster Two and I’m working on a way to mount it to an arm. That’s a project I need to do soon. I really like the way your arm gets the RCP II and wires off your desk. Thanks for the video. It’s reminding me that I need to finish the project I’ve already started.
The cable management aspect is super nice. I'd be interested to know what you come up with for the Vocaster!
It surely allows the RCP II to reach new heights and the VESA mount doesn't even arm to much your VISA... (a)mount
Ok I can't even attempt to outdo this, it's brilliant 🥇
Tom you should check out the thronmax s6 mic arm. It’s a good competitor to the legato low profile arm!
It looks interesting! Thanks for the recommendation!
Tom, Like you I am a little fixated on color coordinating, though my color is orange. I haven't had much luck finding orange USB C cables that work consistently with the Rodecaster Pro II. Any recommendations on good sources for reliable USB C cables? Every purchase seems like a complete crap shoot.
Absolutely love the channel, whether it is the tech content, your puns and dad jokes, or bringing Heather in for an occasional spot. You're totally rocking it!
I will never not take the unwarranted credit for adding vesa to the OG RCP! Lol!😂
100% deserved.
🤣👍
I know this is an older video but, I recently bought one and I don't know if it's a user error or what I'm using but, I'm having a hiss problem from my device . It's noticeable when speaking and when touching the device . I'm wondering if I should send it back or could it be me doing something wrong . I'm using the rode podmic, rode nth 100 headphones , I have it connected to the front trrs port and on the back two ports . Could it be my gain?
Tom: Any suggestion for adapting the original Rodecaster for the same configuration?
I’ve heard that people have good luck using laptop arms (they have a tray like surface to rest the RCP on).
If you hadn’t cut off the post, could you possibly have mounted the arm upside down so it would have the part where you mount the Rodecaster on the part of the arm closest to the desk?
I think that would totally work, but in my case I like the lower segments closer to the post to make room for the monitor.
I was considering putting my Rodecaster Duo on a vesa arm, but for my setup it just won't work out too well. Great video though.
It doesn't work all the time, but wow when it does, it's great!
is there a solution for the rode streamer x?
Rather than using a VESA arm with the Streamer X, I've had good luck with articulating arms for cameras and monitors and stuff. I like this one because it has a clamp that's pretty easy to attach to a desk or monitor arm: geni.us/I2Xwn
Which model of the Vivo arm is this?
I don't know if Vivo has specific model names, but it's this one: geni.us/bOkzyk1
I have a rodecaster pro. I need a different option. I don’t have the mounting holes on the backside
You can use a “laptop arm” which has a little platform for the RCP to rest on.
@@tombuck thank you. Love the content. I love podcasting
literally obviously hahahahaha
So has Tom stopped doing lives on here?
I still do them, it just hasn't been as often due to my schedule being pretty packed, but it's something I'm really wanting to prioritize this year. 👍
