This was the song that played at my great grandmas funeral. It was her favorite song ever. She wanted everyone to dance to this song, but I was to sad to do that. I was just sitting there, looking up in the stage and imagined that my great grandma was dancing with my great grandpa that passed 10 year prior, finally back together and having the dance of their afterlives right there on stage as spirits. I miss her a lot, loved her stories about the prairie days and the dust bowl. RIP 🪦

My mom watches Gunsmoke and she used to watch it when younger with her parents too so that fact makes this song stand out out with the Gunsmoke reference in the beginning. Love this! Boot Scootin’ Boogie is real country music. Not the pop-rock country you hear today. Brooks and Dunn are amazing. They brought country line dancing back for everyone. Ronnie’s voice is one of the best in country music. It’s no wonder they are in the country music hall of fame. They belong there.

I was fortunate enough to see these guys in concert second row at a pavilion in Maryland around 1995 and was blown away! They are true country music superstars. Ronnie Dunn is a true Tenor! " Let the Horses Run". It's unbelievable how the years fly by! It seems like that was yesterday! Ronnie Dunn, resembles and reminds me of a great friend and mentor who I spent many Summer's with on a massive dairy farm in Union Grove, North Carolina. I busted my ass on that farm doing endless work. But, for a twelve year old boy it was healthy! Union Grove, North Carolina, the best fiddlers convention...my grass is blue! Simply, great memories!!!

I remember about ten years ago, I was a lowly Deck Seaman in the Navy, steering the ship in the middle of the night, and I had been doing so for about three or four hours. I was dead tired, and asked to switch to another station, and the watch supervisor declined. He then began singing the chorus of this song, in order to irritate me, and it worked, knowing that am a die hard city slicker. My blood began to boil, but later, I saw the humor in it.

I remember hating this song upon release. Years later, I realized I was being dumb and it's just a fun, fantastic song. Nowadays, I turn it up every time it's on.
In western Canada, learning to line dance to this song is (was???) part of the curriculum. You can't pass grade 4 without learning to boot scoot n' boogie.
We had something like that in Texas, just not as important. Our P.E. teachers in elementary and middle school would teach us line dances whenever we didn't have an exercise to do that day, and this was one of the songs they used for us
I don't know about other states, but in the north-east of America, we have a line/square dance part of the phys-ed curriculum for 6-8th graders. this was one of the first songs I learned in sixth grade and i can still remember it to this day because we would do it at our middle school dances, and the entire gym would chant "one, two, click click, front, back, side, hitch" (moves of part of the dance) as we were dancing. 😂
